DUBAI

Dubai is a cosmopolitan oasis, a futuristic cityscape that towers over the Arabian Desert. It is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf and is one of the seven emirates that make up the country. With a population of 2.106 million It is extremely well known for it’s warm hospitality and rich cultural heritage, and the people are welcoming and generous in their approach to visitors. With year-round sunshine, intriguing deserts, beautiful beaches, luxurious hotels and shopping malls, fascinating heritage attractions and a thriving business community, Dubai receives millions of leisure and business visitors each year from around the world. Burj Khalifa, an 830m-tall tower, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. witch is currently the world’s tallest structure by a long shot. At its foot lies Dubai Fountain, with jets and lights choreographed to music. On man-made islands just offshore is Atlantis, the Palm, a resort with water and marine-animal parks. With plenty to see and do, Make Dubai next on your bucket list.

Bucket List

Palm Islands in Dubai The three largest artificial islands in the world are located just off the coast of Dubai; a major urban development to add a significant amount of upscale beachfront property to the area. Each of the islands is shaped like a palm leaf, with a trunk connected to the mainland, fronds extending from the trunk, and a crescent (a breakwater encircling the trunk and fronds). Of the three planned, the Palm Jumeirah, at 5km square and near Dubai Marina, is the only one open yet, connected to the mainland by a freeway bridge and a monorail and sporting marinas, luxury resorts, and upscale shopping areas. There are endless water-sport opportunities as Dubai has some of the whitest and sandiest beaches in the world. Ocean temperatures range from 22째C in winter up to 35째C in summer. Try a Banana boat or parasailing or other watersport activity.

Dining The beauty of the food in Dubai is that you will probably find cuisine for every taste. The top hotels in the city all have at least one restaurant each serving (most commonly) some form of international cuisine - Italian, Japanese, Indian and so on.

18

Dubai is essentially a desert city with superb infrastructure, liberal policies (by regional standards), that became popular for its excellent tourist amenities. Just 5h from Europe and 3h by air from most parts of the Middle East, the Near East, and the subcontinent of India, Dubai makes a great short break for shopping, partying, sunbathing, fine dining, sporting events, and even a few sinful pleasures. It is a city of superlatives: for the fastest, biggest, tallest, largest and highest, Dubai is the destination. It has the largest immigrant population in the world.

Nightlife As Dubai has grown from a small town into a bustling city, so has the nightlife scene. Most 3 to 5 star hotels have bars and nightclubs for those interested in the nightlife. World-class DJs frequent Dubai’s nightclubs, and many A-list musical celebrities are adding Dubai to their list of tour dates.

Halloween Groaner

True Stories From The Butterball Turkey Hotline, where people call to get advice how to cook a Turkey from the experts... Thanksgiving Dinner on the run. A woman called the Butterball Hotline to find out how long it would take to roast her turkey. To answer the question, the Talk-Line home economist asked how much the bird weighed. The woman responded, “I don’t know, it’s still running around outside.” Tofu turkey? No matter how you slice it, Thanksgiving just isn’t Thanksgiving without turkey. A restaurant owner in California wanted to know how to roast a turkey for a vegetarian menu. Then there’s the time a lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn’t find one big enough for her family. She asked a stock boy, “Do these turkeys get any bigger?” The stock boy replied, “No ma’am, they’re dead.”

A man was walking home alone one night when he heard a “BUMP... BUMP... BUMP...” behind him. Walking faster, he looked back, making out an image of an upright coffin banging its way down the middle of the street towards him... BUMP...BUMP...BUMP...” The man began to run toward his home, and the coffin bounced after him faster... BUMP-BUMP-BUMP!!! He ran up to his door, fumbled with his keys, opened the door, rushed in, and locked it behind him. The coffin crashed through his door, with the lid of the coffin clapping BUMP... BUMP... BUMP... on the heals of the terrified man. Then the man rushed upstairs to the bathroom and locked himself in, his heart just pounding. With a CRASH, the coffin broke down the door, coming slowly toward him. The man, while screaming, reached for something, anything... all he can find was a box of cough drops which he hurled at the coffin... and suddenly “the coffin stops.”

Question: What’s the most popular Holiday Wine? Answer: “I don’t like Brussels sprouts.”

Gifts for friends for free Author Unknown

True friends are not fussy or judgemental. They care

not what you are worth or what you own. And they certainly understand the meaning of your friendship, and whatever you may give as a present comes from the heart. Here are some of the most heartfelt gifts you can offer good friends, without a bit of monetary investment.

5) THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT A simple and sincere, “You look great in red,” “You did a super job” or “That was a wonderful meal” can make someone’s day.

1) THE GIFT OF LISTENING... But you must REALLY listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response. Just listening. 2) THE GIFT OF AFFECTION... Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends. 3) THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER... Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say, “I love to laugh with you.”

6) THE GIFT OF A FAVOR... Every day, go out of your way to do something kind. 7) THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE... There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others. 8) THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION... The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone. Really, it’s not that hard to say “Hello” or “Thank You.”

4) THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE... It can be a simple “Thanks for the help” note or a full sonnet. A brief, handwritten note could be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life (although it may cost a stamp if you mail it)
