EXPANDING HORIZONS

“Dilworth’s mission is remarkable – to provide fully funded scholarships for students from families who have an aspiration for their son to excel, but whose circumstances may be a barrier to him fulfilling his potential. There’s nothing like it on the NZ educational landscape.”
Dilworth Headmaster, Dan Reddiex dilworthannualappeal.nz

What is the Annual Appeal?
James and Isabella Dilworth gave an amazing gift over 130 years ago, founding an endowment that would go on to establish our School and support fully-funded scholarships for approximately 500 young men each year.
Running a school like Dilworth involves significant costs, and often, smaller projects simply can’t be funded.
As part of our vision to develop young men of good character, achieving personal excellence, who flourish in life, we are beginning to build a strong and positive culture of giving at Dilworth.
The new Annual Appeal will expand, enhance, elevate and enable impactful initiatives that are the ‘extra mile’ projects that mean so much for our students and staff.
What will the Annual Appeal support this year?
The money we raise for this year’s Annual Appeal will pay for specific initiatives that positively impact students’ learning and extend educational opportunities for our staff.
Your donation will support enhancements in key areas identified and recommended by our school community and endorsed by our Leadership Teams and Trust Board.

SUSTAINABLE LIVING & LEARNING AT THE JUNIOR CAMPUS
~$20,000
To meet the growing need to focus on sustainability and environmental best practice and reduce waste, students at the Junior Campus are keen to introduce a compost system, that not only uses food waste wisely, but teaches them in a hands-on way about recycling, composting, reducing waste and so much more.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION ENHANCEMENTS

OUTSTANDING TEACHER DEVELOPMENT
~$40,000 ~$25,000
Success breeds success! Enhanced resources are urgently needed to support the pursuit of excellence in our performance sports teams. Plus, the sports department is looking to upgrade our scoreboard on the #1 rugby field.
These important sporting resource enhancements will benefit the next generation of Dilworth sportsmen and their supporters.
Everyone knows teachers are at the heart of every school!
This project will allow outstanding teachers to travel and attend exceptional courses, beyond the limits of existing professional learning, to remain at the forefront of their profession. This project reinforces how important teachers are in the lives of all students at Dilworth.

MUSICAL TALENT ENRICHMENT
~$40,000
It is with great delight that we admit to having a problem... our students are so amazing that it is a real challenge providing them with the musical resources to fulfil their potential.
More musical instruments are critically needed to ensure every young man who wants to, will be able to play in the orchestra, and can learn their favourite instrument or practice when they have time.

Members of the Trust Board, School Leadership Teams and others in the Dilworth Whānau have already made their donation pledges – showing their belief in our shared mission. This appeal is about all of us. I encourage everyone to take part — your participation, more than anything, shows the strength of our community and commitment to Dilworth’s purpose.”

$125,000
Let’s reach our goal together
While the Dilworth Trust’s endowment covers the costs of an excellent education, it’s the generosity of others that will enhance the impact and help fund some of the smaller ‘above and beyond’ initiatives – things that will make the Dilworth experience so special and unique for our young men.
$15,788 as at 30 June 2025
We are asking everyone in our community, from current Whānau and Staff, to Old Boys & Alumni, to Supporters and Friends of Dilworth, to kindly consider making a voluntary monetary gift to our new Annual Appeal.
Dilworth is going forward and expanding horizons. We are asking you to go forward with us, together.
Every gift counts no matter the amount
Many small gifts add up to a large sum. We are asking all our community to make a donation you can be proud of, and at a level you are comfortable with. No donation is too small (nor too large!).
We will thank and recognise our donors every year and account for all monies raised in our Annual Report, showing the positive impact. Actual amounts given remain confidential and donors may also choose to remain anonymous.

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give” Sir Winston Churchill

The more we can teach students about giving and caring for those less fortunate, the better. The new Annual Appeal will add philanthropic support to student-led service projects that help people in need.”
Richard van Dam, Director of Flourishing

10% of every gift goes to support others
Dilworth’s purpose and established culture of philanthropy will now be supported by the Annual Appeal.
That means every Annual Appeal donation not only supports Dilworth’s incredible mission, but also helps others less fortunate.
5% will support Old Boys in need via the Dilworth Old Boys’ Benevolent Trust each year, while our Service Committee students and staff will work to identify which charities will be beneficiaries of the other 5% every year.
That’s our social promise!
