Cyberoam Launches CR10wiNG Wireless Security Appliances for SOHO Cyberoam CR10wiNG is built on the same CyberoamOS that powers other high-end NG series UTM appliances. It is centrally manageable via Cyberoam Central Console (CCC) and Cyberoam’s on-Cloud Management Service and is compatible with iView – Cyberoam’s Open Source logging and reporting solution.

C

yberoam has launched CR10wiNG, the “fastest and most affordable UTM appliance” with built-in Wi-Fi capabilities for the SOHOROBO markets. The CR10wiNG wireless appliance supports 802.11 nbg standards and up to eight virtual access points. It delivers UTM security features over WLAN to offer enterpriselevel security and meet the requirement of mobility in this segment. Cyberoam CR10wiNG offers high performance with firewall throughput of 400Mbps and UTM throughput of 60Mbps. The wireless networks in organizations face huge risk of information theft due to their inability to trace users, especially guest users, within the network. Additionally, lack of IT security staff and budgetary

constraints make it difficult for the SOHOROBO segment to find security solutions that are adequate, cost-effective and easy to manage. Also, organizations with distributed networks, remote and branch offices, especially in sectors like retail stores, logistics and transportation, and Utility distribution centers, demand mobility within the network and need network security, secure remote access, and secure Wi-Fi for walk-in customers. CR10wiNG, based on Cyberoam’s patented Layer 8 technology, allows administrators to apply User identitybased security policies to gain visibility over user activity and also manage Guest Internet access in the network. CR10wiNG supports multiple virtual access points that create independent,

segregated networks in the same physical area for separate teams like sales, marketing, guest users, and more. This offers secure authentication and prevents rogue clients from connecting to networks where they don’t belong. “CR10wiNG is designed for small and branch offices to offer secureWiFiat par withwired security. It enables a leaner Wi-Fi security infrastructure to organizations by replacing both Wi-Fi router and firewall with a single appliance. For remote offices with limited connectivity options, CR10wiNG also offers 3G/4G USB support,” said Abhilash Sonwane, Sr. Vice President- Technology & Products, Cyberoam."

7 success mantras for channel partners The partner fraternity is facing a lot of challenges to sustain their business. But of these challenges are inherent. How can they deal with these challenges and increase their sales? Here are a few key tips that will help them to grow their business.

C

hannel partners are facing the rough storm for about four years, now. Regular conversations with the channel partners reveal that they are facing a lot of competition from the internet. Especially the ecommerce has burnt a hole in their pocket. Their business has also suffered on the global queues; mainly the demand for PCs, servers and traditional software has struggled to pick up after the recession. Business buying fluctuates every time. Changed user behavior and their love for variegated devices every second day keep the channel guessing on what really could be the market sentiment. Earlier predicting demand was easy, since the choices were limited. Moreover users

10 01-15 JUNE 2015 | DIGITAL TERMINAL

knew that they had to buy only PCs and laptops if they have to access the internet. Today, the PC has moved out of the picture as an Internet-access device and also a primary access point. Rather it has become a storage console for your personal and professional data. Your primary device is either your smartphone or your tablet. The question arises: Will the channel business shrink further? There can be several answers to this. However, the near time analyses points at more competition. The industry has not yet taken a stance and direction to decide their fate. Maybe the time will tell. However, the second thought points towards their key role in driving the market. There are a lot of reasons for this. They have the expertise, the

knowledge and above all, the physical reach. And these are their personal assets which no one can steal, at least not any time soon. What do the channels really need to do to save their territory? What are the effective steps they can take to step up into an action mode once again? In our opinion, an outsider will never tell them. The answer lies in their psyche. The problem is that the channel has forgotten the aggression, the will to face the problems boldly and the love for adventure to take business risk. They are still living in their comfort zone. Partners have to come out of the comfort zone and face the reality. Stopping others from doing business is not their solution. It is like putting curtain on your weaknesses.

1

Recognize your strength

2

A I ccording to a study, an

estimated 70 percent of companies earn most of their revenue through indirect channels i.e. from dealers, agents, VARs and distributors. If this is the case, your grudge about competition and ecommerce is baseless. You must understand that market size in last four years have gone up. It means your business has not come down. The problem is most of the channel partners are not realizing the resources they have. Balaji Rajagopalan, Executive Director, Technology, Channels & International Distributor Operations, Xerox India, suggests, “It is just not about selling but more about maintaining the relationship with the end customer. Xerox equips the partners to not only sell but also provide other value-added services to the end customer. This is where one can make a difference, by being with the customer and Balaji Rajagopalan, Executive Director, help him in tough Technology, Channels & International times.” Distributor Operations, Xerox India, Rajagopalan further adds that nurturing relationships with existing customers helps the partners achieve 60% of the business from repeat purchase which clearly shows our prowess in not just selling but also servicing the customers where and when required.

3A

Use social media

smart businessman is the one who never forgets his customers. In order to increase sales and stay in touch with consumers or prospective consumers, the partners should use new media such as Facebook,

Ecommerce: An offshoot of channel, not enemy

t is a baseless fear in the minds of partners that ecommerce is their enemy and has eaten up their business. In our opinion, ecommerce is an offshoot of the channel business and an integral part of the community. The partners need to take into cognizance a host of facts while declaring ecommerce their enemy. Most of the vendors which used to depend on distribution network of traditional channel have begun to sell on these online platforms. This is because they think that ecommerce is the new channel. In our opinion, the channel players can give the ecommerce business a whole new dimension. This is the route you have to take also. You have the expertise, the knowledge and the reach. You can have your e-commerce platform built or partner with the ecommerce players to deliver and supply products. In short, it is the time to embrace ecommerce and not confront it. In the event of confrontation, you will be the sole loser. Ecommerce players do not know the market in your area. You do. Plus you have the network of partners. So use all of this to expand your business and sell more products. In conversation with DT, Sudip De, VP at ADATA Technology, points at this when he suggests, “Apart from the mundane work that a partner does he needs to Sudip De, VP at ADATA Technology, keep an eye open to the changing market dynamics and emerging business scenario.”

Twitter, LinkedIn and WhatsApp. You can create groups to regularly stay in touch with the customers. Plus try to address all customer queries arising out of these media. You can offer deals to the members of groups on these platforms. It is a smart and effective way. Your customers will recall you whenever they have to buy which you offer.

Adopt a cumulative approach

G

oing further, the partner community needs to embark on a fresh journey that guides them into the future. They need to shun the archaic thought of doing business in the name of a few brands which they sell. It is time that they endeavour to deliver value rather than a mere piece of hardware. A good suggestion S.Sriram, CEO at iValue emerges when S Sriram, CEO at iValue, says “Partner needs to graduate from brand/product/solution approach to consultative approach to understand and address customers business and IT challenges. This approach will help them deliver more value of relevance to their customer needs along with much wider and deeper engagement with each one of them, pushing up the value chain to help them grow profitably at a healthy pace.”

Respect customers

o n e a r e t h e days when customers had to depend on you to buy products. They have multiple choices today. In short, it is better that partners try to communicate w i t h customers in an effective way and establish a valid

of our products so that they would be interested in coming back for our company’s products and services.” A proper communication with customer allows you to understand the customer requirements, Pankaj Jain, Director, ESET India also says, “Partners can sell more by understanding the requirement of the customer and then suggesting the solution accordingly. Understanding customer’s pain points and then suggesting

dialogue. Try to educate them and give them adequate information about the price, the configuration, the service support and the vendor behaviour. Giving his nod on this point, Sanjay Pradhan, MD, Maxsecure, says, “Our message would be to communicate well with the customers and educate them about the benefits

product accordingly has been one of the best-selling tactics.” Jumping into the discussion, Atul Jain – VPChannel & Sales, TP-Link, opines, “Partners can sell more by joining hands to provide consumer the better technological products by mapping their requirement. For Atul Jain – VP- Channel & Sales, TP-Link, example, if your customer wants to invest in an SUV and you sell them a 4 seat car, it is not a praiseworthy approach.” In nutshell, the partners can increase sales significantly if they try to be honest and try to move out of their comfort zone. The time is running out. The world will not wait for them. No one is their enemy expect their own thinking and archaic approach.

Create opportunities

I

f the market is not providing the partners more business opportunities, it is better that they step out and create business opportunities. Waiting for something to happen

7 O

is a lazy approach and indication that you do not want to come out of the comfort zone. Ankesh Kumar, Director, Marketing at Emerson Network Power, advises, “Partners must proactively reach out to the market and create a business opportunity for Ankesh Kumar, Director, Marketing at themselves rather Emerson Network Power than waiting for enquiries. They must devise a clear and well-defined objective to reach out to relevant customers and consult them on the best possible solutions. This effective customer acquisition plan will ensure increased business for them.”

Are you copying your competitors?

ne of the biggest problem with most channel partners is they are doing the business no different than their peers and competitors. The world has moved on. It demands change. You have to change, show uniqueness in your model and stand out from the rest. Seconding this point, Subhasish Gupta, Country Manager – India & SAARC at Allied Telesis, opines, “It’s all about focus. Think about what you do well, better than your competitors and which customers will value those things more than anything else and then focus on those customers. Transforming oneself with the change in the market scenario plus staying relevant is the key here.” He further suggests that it becomes extremely important to understand the ever-changing needs of the customers and to adapt and design the services and solutions in a Subhasish Gupta, Country Manager – India manner that stay relevant & SAARC with the changing times. If one cannot understand the

changing needs of the target audience it becomes extremely difficult for one to thrive and grow in the market. Staying relevant is important for channel partners. Shibu Paul Regional Sales Director – India, ME and SEA at Array Networks agrees, “For anybody to be able to sell and thrive, it becomes extremely important to transform one self and be relevant. Market conditions change more often than not and it is extremely essential to change and adapt to the ever changing environment. Being relevant to the market is necessary.” Re-designing the solutions and realigning the products in accordance to the customer grievances gives one the Shibu Paul Regional Sales Director – India, competitive advantage ME and SEA and makes it easier to be able to make one’s products reach out to a larger audience.

Global ICT Came together in Taipei for COMPUTEX 2015 The show was open for COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2015 from June2 – June 6. This mega event attracted close to 38,550 buyers from China, Japan, US, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Germany, Thailand, India, Canada, Australia, Philippines, a total of 165 countries.

F

or 35 years, COMPUTEX has followed Taiwan’s ICT industry in its role as the center of the changing global market. There are over 2000 individual ICT companies in Taiwan, and they team up with your favorite brands to create the finished product that ends up in the store. They are the reason buyers from all around the world come to COMPUTEX. According to a breakdown by the other co-organizer, TAITRA, of international buyers by region shows that Asian buyers account for 76% of COMPUTEX international visitors, followed by North American (10.6%) and European (7%) buyers. These numbers show that COMPUTEX is the most ideal platform for international exhibitors to enter the Asian market.

According to Deputy Secretary General Chang of the Taipei Computer Association—one of the co-organizers of COMPUTEX—there are roughly 1000 Taiwanese ICT businesses that only attend COMPUTEX and no other trade show; this is because the majority of these businesses are small/ medium-enterprises, and they value COMPUTEX as an important export platform. This year, COMPUTEX is joined by ASE, the world’s largest semiconductor company, and Haier, the world’s largest maker of consumer electronics. Also, ARM Holdings and BenQ participated as exhibitors for the first time. COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2015 attracted 38,550 international buyers from 165 countries. The top 10 nations by turnout were: Mainland China,

Japan, the United States, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Thailand, and India. There were notable increases in visitors from Bangladesh (120% growth from last year), UAE (26%) and Vietnam (79%). It is projected that total visitor count for all five days will exceed 130,000. During the show, TAITRA organized over 4000 1-on-1 procurement meetings to directly link buyers with our exhibitors. 204 companies from 30 countries came to COMPUTEX looking for industrial computers, purchase order systems, wearables, 3D printing, memory chips, and mobile phone accessories. the OEM and being at frontend we take the responsibility on product, support and deliverables we deal with. Even with some of our vendors having local presence partners always have the choice of getting a dual level of sales and service support from the vendors as well as us. In Tier II cities, customer satisfaction is most important at strategic level. As dealers are the faces for customers of various brands, educating dealers is a must. Educating dealer means providing an opportunity to gain deeper insight about nuances of premium peripherals market. Dealers understand emerging needs of customers and bring that in notice of vendors, which further help in creating a strong bond between the dealers and vendors.
