Still Praising God.

I just read this little bit of history on a facebook post and though I have always known of A.A. Allen I had never heard this story and I am still praising God. During one of his healing revivals in Birmingham, AL, a mother from Knoxville brought her son for prayer. David was almost three years old and had been called “the most underdeveloped boy ever born in Tennessee.” He was paralyzed on his right side, blind in one eye, deaf, and mute. He couldn’t even crawl because his limbs were like twisted sticks and his feet were deformed. He had twenty-six major diseases or defects in his body. His mother had been told by one doctor “only God can help your boy now.” David’s mother took that statement literally and although it cost her all she had, she drove the 250 miles alone with her boy to get him to the revival. What happened at that meeting is called the “greatest miracle of A.A. Allen’s ministry.” As Allen held the boy in his arms and wept over him, suddenly two bright blue pupils appeared where once there was only the milky-grey of blindness. His limbs began to morph like putty into the correct shape. His tongue, which had hung out of his mouth limply before, snapped inside his mouth, and he began to call out his first words “Mama! Mama!” Then he took his first steps to go embrace his mother. He was completely healed! Spontaneously, with no one praying for them, every person in a wheelchair stood up altogether, totally healed. Every person in a stretcher got up the same way. People began running to the front so they could throw their hearing aids on the altar. Then came the glasses. Then came the walking sticks for the blind. Every single person was healed as the glory of God rested under that tent that night.

Heal, Rest, and Recover in the comfort of your own home! MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER AMBER SHERROUSE BSN, RN,CNOR Why I started Rise Nursing Concierge PLLC: I love caring for others and always have. I love being a nurse, it is my passion. I have been a registered nurse for 14 years now and have had the pleasure of caring for so many wonderful patients. Although I have loved working in the clinical and hospital setting I've always felt that something was missing. I've always felt that I should be and could be doing more for my patients. So many times I'd clock out of work feeling like I'd been rushed to get patients in and out or feeling like I wasn't able to truly make a difference for them. I felt like the focus was more on charting and paperwork than on patient care. I knew I wanted to do something more I just didn't know what. So I started doing some deep reflection and praying and asking God to show me a way that I could use the gifts and talents he gave me to help others in a more meaningful way. That's when he showed me I could be doing so much more for my patient than I was currently doing and the idea for a concierge nursing business came to me. I began to see a growing need in the medical field for more genuine quality care. With more and more patients having outpatient surgeries and shorter hospital stays there was a growing need for nursing care in the home setting after discharge. So many times my patients would be discharged from the hospital or clinical setting and have no one to take them home or properly care for them when they got there. I also started to notice that there were many patients who didn't want to burden family members and friends to help them with their recovery or taking them to and from their procedures. This is when I thought I could make a difference and bridge the gap. As a surgical nurse I have so much knowledge and skills in this area. Surgery and medical care is also a very private and personal affair. That's why I focus importance on giving discreet one on one care to my clients. I am now able to spend as much time as needed with my patients and give them top notch care with all the extra attention they deserve!

Reconciliation From Across the Street by Rickie Bradshaw In the wake of the recent racial divide in America, we asked each other, “How can we work together to bring healing to America’s ethnic division while also bringing glory to God?” To answer that question, my friend Don Allsman and I of Reconciliation Fellowship, created a path of concrete steps that lead to unity using the acrostic “SENT.” The word “sent” is important for several reasons. The Father sent Jesus “so that:” the world would know the love of the Father (John 17:21-23); the world would be reconciled to God (2 Cor. 5:18); we could be sent to represent Him as ministers of reconciliation (Jn. 20:21). Ethnic reconciliation then is a means toward an end, “So that” His work can be accomplished. Therefore, it must be approached as Biblical Reconciliation. Here is a four-step roadmap toward a “So-that”end. S – START Foundationally The first part of SENT is Start Foundationally. We don’t start with our current historical context or what we hear in the news, but with the foundation of God’s Story, His Kingdom purpose. We recognize that the work of reconciliation is spiritual warfare because we are joining Jesus in His work, the epic conflict between two Kingdoms cited in 1 Jn. 3:8: “the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” He is defeating the enemy by assembling a family from every tribe, tongue, people and nation (Rev. 7:9). We are being built into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus himself being the cornerstone (Eph. 2:19-22). This is the foundation from which we start. E- EQUIP Historically Next, we need to be equipped to know the historical context of our ethnic division, to be educated about our 400 years of conflict. Therefore, we need to be equipped to skillfully talk with those having a different point of view. By doing so, we equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the Body to maturity (Eph. 4:12-13) not to divided up. As we become equipped in our ability to listen to one another, we can break the cycle. N – NAVIGATE Incarnationally The next step is to develop relationships with people of another ethnicity. Just as Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us (incarnated), we need to enter into relationship by doing things together. We need to press into a friendship, to navigate incarnationally. T – TEAM Collaboratively The last step of SENT is to Team Collaboratively. When the other steps are followed, it can lead to collaborative works of righteousness to the glory of God. As we do, reconciliation and unity become a byproduct of working together. The Church plays an important role in reconciliation. Examples include joint worship services or retreats, forming a volunteer team to go into a public school or doing prison ministry together. The most common way to be ministers of reconciliation is to make friends “From Across the Street”. Pastor Rickie Bradshaw has served as Pastor of First Southwest Baptist Church for 35 years and is also presently serving at 89.3FM KSBJ Radio as Prayer Initiatives Director. Pastor Rickie is also known as an international speaker on Transforming Revival, City Transformation and Criminal Justice Reform. He also served 25 years as a Church Consultant for Union Baptist Association in Houston, Texas. He has also been active in the Criminal Justice Ministry at various levels serving as Area Director for Prison Fellowship Houston as well as After-Care Program Director for Inner Change Freedom Initiative, Prison Fellowship USA He received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2016. Rickie Bradshaw is married to Dreka for 39 years. They have seven children and fourteen grandchildren. If he has any time to spare, he loves working in his garden.

Superintendent Dr. Todd Stephens had the vision to create a unique learning opportunity for future leaders and develop a program for junior-level students to learn about government leadership and how to be leaders of their community. The Magnolia ISD Student Leadership Program was founded in 2012 and continues today to develop young leaders.

The district's commitment to this program fosters these young leaders to develop a passion for making a difference and how each one of them can make an impact in their community. The leadership program focuses on leadership development, the civic awareness of local, county, and state government processes, profit and nonprofit leadership, Fortune 500 business coach, and etiquette.

Their senior year focuses on a capstone project, which usually involved getting students and staff to register to vote along with a service day in Magnolia. MISD Serves Day is a district-wide community service project for students, staff, parents, and volunteers to come together and engage in numerous projects to meet the needs of our community. U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady has been a part of this program and shared his story about the importance of giving back to the community. He stated, “If I can leave you with one piece of advice, it would be to be independent, be optimistic, have faith in God, and give back to the community in which you live.”

www.magnoliaisd.org

Dr. Todd Stephens has been with Magnolia Independent School District since 1999 and was named Superintendent in 2009. Prior to being named Superintendent, he served as the Assistant Superintendent of Magnolia ISD with responsibilities for the supervision of the District’s Curriculum and Instruction Department as well as Leadership Development within the District. Dr. Stephens has 39 years of experience in education, serving 22 of those years in Magnolia. Dr. Stephens grew up in Temple, Texas, and was a product of the Temple Independent School District. Upon graduation from Temple High School, he attended Abilene Christian University where he earned a BS in Education. He continued his education and earned a Master of Education Degree from Tarleton State University (TSU) in 1997. While at TSU, he served as a member of the initial cohort group of the New Century Educational Leadership Program (NCELP) at Tarleton State University. In 2007, he received a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Prairie View A&M University. During his postgraduate studies at Prairie View, he was a member of the first doctoral cohort in educational leadership at Prairie View A&M University. Dr. Stephens and his wife, Becky, live in Magnolia and have been married since 1981. They attend Conroe Church of Christ. Becky is a retired teacher. They have two children, Sam (graduate of Sam Houston State University) and Holly (graduate of Texas Tech University).

The Future Is Bright In Splendora ISD

Dr. Jeff Burke, Splendora ISD Superintendent

Splendora ISD is poised for tremendous growth in the very near future, with over 3,500 students headed our way in the next 3-4 years. With this growth comes new challenges and new opportunities. We continue to pursue our mission of Cultivating Exceptional People, and the additional influx of new students, new families, and new staff present opportunities to serve at a greater level. As the school of choice in our community, we are focused on building positive relationships with our students and creating and designing quality learning experiences for them. These include continued focus on our Early College program, a valuable partnership with Lone Star College, expansion of workforce certifications and career and technical education, and a commitment to engaging every student, both in the classroom and across all of our clubs, extracurricular, and co-curricular activities.

Our teachers, staff, and leadership continue to work tirelessly to serve our students and families. Even though these last two years have been challenging, to say the least, we recognize and embrace the responsibility we have been given to build critical thinkers, agile and adaptable learners, and committed citizens who will further our democracy. We remain dedicated to our mission, and even though the narrative about public schools turns more and more negative, we are proud of our school district and our community. We know that we are accountable to the hopes and dreams of our parents and students and work extremely hard to give every student an avenue to realize their strengths, talents, and potential. As Superintendent of Schools, I am committed to ensuring that our district remains innovative, future-focused, and ready to serve every student who walks through the doors of Splendora ISD. The future is bright in our district, and I want to welcome all of the new families and students who are making Splendora ISD their public school district of choice. 20

The Problem: Anger The Solution: Jesus Christ

by Dr. Alan Kitay

Anger is a strong emotion that expresses our displeasure when an expectation or need is not met. It is characterized by a series of reactions that are chosen because of how we perceive the situation and our unmet expectations. The reactions include emotional, verbal, and physical responses. There are also different levels of angry responses: One can be peeved, miffed, disappointed, raging – but all of these have as their root anger. Many say that anger is a God-given emotion that, like all components of man, was corrupted in the fall. However, how many times did Adam and Eve argue in the Garden of Eden before the fall? While the Bible acknowledges anger, it does not condone anger. Let’s examine this Biblical perspective. Guidelines for Anger Ephes. 4:26-32 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: [27] Neither give place to the devil. [28] Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. [29] Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. [30] And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. [31] Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: [32] And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. The Apostle Paul starts this teaching by acknowledging that anger exists, and then gives specific guidelines for the times when anger manifests itself. We are to be angry but not sin. Anger is to have a time limit. And, we must remember that being angry can give the devil an opportunity to gain an advantage over us. Paul then gives directions for how to manage three manifestations of anger: work, speech, and spirituality. Then, he gives a better way for handling anger - Put it away from you! Instead of guarding our hearts and behavior against anger, Paul has a better solution - Put it away from you. He says, “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:” What a unique concept. There is a way of behaving when one does not get what is wanted or expected, and it doesn’t have to be with anger. Instead, Paul says that we can deal with the unmet need or expectation with kindness and forgiveness. “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another…” And then he goes on to give us the proper motivation for behaving this way, “…even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you...”

Many balk at this concept and say that it is not fair; but consider this question, “Was it fair that Jesus Christ, the perfect righteous son of God, suffered and died for our sins?” If He was able to forgive us for our many sins, shouldn’t we, as followers of Christ, do the same thing? Jesus asked this question, “Why do you call me Lord, and then not do the things that I say?” The Bible also tells us, “In everything give Him thanks.” The word everything means, well, everything. This includes the good times and the bad times, what we want and don’t want. In other words, we cannot be angry for the things that we are thankful for. If we understand that all things work together for good, then what reason do we have to be angry? Wow! Imagine your life without anger. THE MIRACULOUS DREAM CREAM

While serving as a Navy Corpsman, Luster Martin came up with the ingredients of a cream that would change the way we look at diaper rash and skin irritations including fungus and yeast infections. They used it in Navy dispensary where Luster was stationed. It was very popular with Navy mothers but when he was discharged from the Navy the recipe for the salve was put away. As Luster went on in his career, becoming a Nurse, working in hospitals and as CEO in hospital administration, the thoughts of this super cream stayed with him, as he recalled how it worked so perfectly for those families.

His career continued in the health care field, eventually becoming involved in the Wound Care business. Again, he was faced with overseeing the treatment of wounds that were devastating to patients with diabetes, and other diagnosis’s that produced skin inflammation. The dream cream was constantly on his mind and after retirement, he dug out the paperwork with the list of ingredients and began his journey to protect the soft skin on a baby and guard against the dryness and rough spots wearing a diaper can cause. As a result, Baby Dream Cream became a reality. After sharing the samples with friends and family, he was now convinced that the cream had incredible results in protecting and healing the rashes of the babies that have used it. He uses natural ingredients and allows for the sweet aroma to become a part of the demand for the salve itself. Luster says that by combining ingredients like Lanolin, White Petrolatum, Hydrogen Borate, and light Mineral Oil which are 100% natural and Pure you come up with a formula for the irritated baby bottoms which works like no other. Adults with irritated skin and rashes are benefited greatly with unbelievable results as well. This product consists of natural ingredients and directly impacts the soothing and healing process for the baby’s sensitive skin. It has a light citruses fragrance that adds to its appeal. Luster relates that “it has been a great experience to meet the needs of little ones who depend on their parents to protect them each step of the way”. Not only does Baby Dream Cream build up a silky barrier on the baby’s bottom, it heals very quickly and removes the inflammation that occurs with a painful diaper rash. In addition, Baby Dream Cream has been used as a healing cream for ordinary skin irritations, burns and itchiness from bug bites. As of now, his investment has given him an opportunity to meet the needs of many little ones who suffer the sting and hurt that diaper rash can cause. Luster stated, “Healing is the part of healthcare that creates the feeling you have accomplished a valuable effort in making each day better for someone else”. His tenacity in this project will certainly prove successful as he goes forward with this purpose in mind.

ASTONISHING TESTIMONIALS

“I had to use a prescription cream for years for my yeast infection and it was slow healing. Now I use the dream cream and it heals up immediately.” “ I have Pompholyx (dyshidrotic eczema) which is a type of eczema that causes tiny blisters to develop across the fingers, palms of the hands and

sometimes the soles of the feet. It is so painful. The prescription cream the Dr. gave me did not help at all. I was so so thankful to discover this Dream Cream.” “I gave this dream cream to my boyfriend for his hemorrhoids. He was astonished at the results. “ “I have a lot of problems with yeast and this is all that I use. My husband loves it for all of his skin irritations. We don’t want to be without it.”

Baby Dream Cream™ is amazing! It has cured the one and only diaper rash my son has had. He’s only had one because the goo helps to prevent a rash. Anytime I notice his bottom turning red, I put on the goo and it soothes immediately. I’ll never use another diaper cream. I love Baby Dream Cream! My daughter started getting terrible diaper rashes after she turned one. It seemed like we tried every diaper cream on the market before we were introduced to Baby Dream Cream by a close friend! We tried Dream Cream for 2 days and her diaper rash was gone After trying other creams and seeing no results we started using Baby Dream Cream after every diaper change. Not only did it eliminate the rash, it has prevented it from coming back. https://babydreamcream.com/ Phone: (832) 741-1619 info@babydreamcream.com Kid-and-Kaboodle.com

Planting Hope by: Deborah Elum, Author & Speaker One of my relatives had given me a Calla Lily plant from the store where he worked. I was grateful that he thought of me but honestly, this plant had seen its better days. Both the leaves and the two flowers on it were drooping. It looked sad and hopeless. When I got home, my husband encouraged me to cut off the dead and broken leaves. After I trimmed it, it did look better. I bought a large planter, some potting soil, and replanted it. Then, I placed it in a room to give it the right amount of sunlight. I saw a new leaf beginning to grow in less than one week. Over the coming weeks, more leaves started to spout. Because I invested time and money into it, it looks happy and healthy. The plant reminds me of a story in Luke 10:30-37. Jesus shared a parable about a man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho. On his way, he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him, and went away, leaving him for dead. After that, two men passed right by him. Instead of helping him, they looked at him and crossed on the other side of the road. When a good Samaritan passed by, he took pity on him. He bandaged the man’s wounds. He even paid for him a place to stay at an Inn and hired someone to take care of him until the man recovered. Jesus asked the people listening to the parable, “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The answer is obvious, the good Samaritan. Jesus concluded his message by saying, “Go and do likewise.” Our neighbor is not just the person living next door to us but anyone we can help. So we must be willing to express kindness and the love of God to those in need. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.” Galatians 6:10 (NLT) “

Farewell Dear Mother By an Unknown Author

Somewhere in my heart beneath all my grief and pain, Is a smile I still wear at the sound of your dear name. The precious word is ‘MOTHER’, she was my world you see, But now my heart is breaking cause she’s no longer here with me. God chose her for His angel to watch me from above, To guide me and advise me and know that I’m still loved. The day she had to leave me when her life on earth was through, God had better plans for her, for this, I surely knew. When I think of her kind heart and all those loving years, My memories surround me and I can’t hold back the tears. She truly was my best friend, someone I could confide in, She always had a tender touch and a warm and gentle grin. I want to thank you Mother for teaching me so well, And though the time has come that I must bid you this farewell. I’ll remember all you’ve taught me and make you proud you’ll see. Thank you my Dear Mother for all the love you showed me. Although you’ve left this earth and now you’ve taken flight, I know that you are here with me each morning, noon and night.

Sticks and Stones...

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Do you remember this saying from childhood? It was one I heard often and wanted to believe. But the truth is: Words do hurt, and they hurt the most from people who are the closest to us. They can do lasting damage, and once they are out of our mouths, our words can never be put back. In a recent Sunday School lesson, I gave each child a small tube of toothpaste and asked them to squeeze it out onto a plate. When the last one finished, I calmly asked them to put all the toothpaste they had poured out back in the tube. They began to exclaim things like: “But I can’t!” “It won’t be

like it was before!” I then explained, “Your words have the power of life or death. Just like this toothpaste, once the words leave your mouth, you can’t take them back.” A few years ago, I hurt someone very badly in how I handled a situation and my words hurt them deeply. I did all I could to make it right, but unfortunately there are some relationships that cannot be fully put back together the way it was because of a word that cannot be taken back, or a mistake that cannot be undone. It took a long time for me to forgive myself. I know now that we often hurt other people because we ourselves have been hurt. Understanding the root cause of our behavior doesn’t excuse it, but it does lead to greater compassion and selfawareness, and empowers us to move forward. You can’t make anyone forgive you, but you can learn from it. Make the choice every morning that life-giving words will come out of your mouth. Use your words to heal, encourage, inspire, and love others. Use your life to give life to a world that so desperately needs it. You will never regret choosing a kind word.
