On The Water
Discover the natural beauty surrounding South Carolina’s waterways by floating through rivers, ponds and lakes.
Though many of our state parks boast beautiful waterways, several additional lakes and rivers flow through the Olde English District.
The Catawba River
This dam-controlled river runs more than 200 miles from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Atlantic Ocean. Several calm stretches of water run through Chester, Lancaster and York counties, offering many floating opportunities.
Bonus: Whitewater Area | Great Falls
The Long Bypass
This whitewater area in Great Falls will allow skilled paddlers to access the natural whitewater of the Catawba River. For more information about access points and visiting details, scan this QR code.

Fishing Creek Lake
This body of water stretches along the banks of the Catawba River. What was constructed as an artificial reservoir for regulating river flows now offers boating opportunities for water enthusiasts.
LAKE MONTICELLO
This 7,000-acre lake includes areas designed with fishing, boating and swimming top-of-mind.
LAKE WATEREE
This nearly 13,000-acre lake touches three counties (Chester, Fairfield and Kershaw), but the main access is at Lake Wateree State Park in Winnsboro in Fairfield County.
