Scenic State Parks
State parks brim with flowers, old-growth forests line ancient waterways and the natural world does important work while you take a few days to drink it in.
ANDREW JACKSON STATE PARK
196 Andrew Jackson Park Rd | Lancaster
“Andrew Jackson State Park is a unique park that offers a little bit of everything: history, outdoor recreation, camping, and art, all located in one spot. Many visitors are surprised that Andrew Jackson is connected to South Carolina when they visit. They are surprised to find an Anna Hyatt Huntington sculpture not displayed at Brookgreen Gardens. More and more each passing day, they are surprised to find so much green space just south of Charlotte. It really is a great place to work your mind and your body.”

Chester State Park

“Chester State Park is a great place to get away and relax. One of my favorite things to do is to hike to the Civilian Conservation Corps-built spillway. The Caney Fork Falls Nature Trail follows the shoreline of the 160-acre park lake from the historic CCC-built boathouse to the spillway. This is a great opportunity to view wildlife and migratory birds. If I'm looking for more activity during a hike, I take advantage of the park's 9-hole and 18-hole disc golf courses. By utilizing these courses, I can take a hike and practice my disc throws at the same time."
