Friends are a blessing from God and one of God’s greatest gifts. They are demonstrations of God’s grace in our lives and when we fall, they are here to pick us back up.
I have been blessed with many friends throughout my life. Some have been there when I needed them the most ; during my greatest tragedies and loss. Then what a joy that my friends brought when they were with me to celebrate life’s joys and accomplishments. From a young girl to a seasoned senior, my friends have been with me.
Now as I am living my last season of life I find myself thinking about the friends that currently surround me with love and support. I have friends that support TiMMark Angels, from this magazine to the events such as Prayer on Main. I am not worthy of their love so their dedication can only be attributed to God’s grace on my life. I have long time friends that love me as I love them “no matter what”.
“Dear Lord, Thank you for my Friends” and cause me to be a blessing to them as they have been to me”

Matt. 7:12 – “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Luke 6:31 – Do to others as you would have them do to you.
The way I like to say it is simply…TREAT OTHERS THE WAY
It doesn’t focus on the negative side but on the positive side.
Some people believe that it means don’t hurt others if you don’t want to be hurt. But it’s actually given to us in a positive way, to always treat others the way that you want to be treated.
The golden rule really goes against everything that the world tells us. Think about it, if someone hits you what do you do? Not should you do, but what do you do? HIT THEM BACK HARDER. You hit me, I hit you back harder. You hurt me, I hurt you worse. You embarrass me, I’m going to get you back even worse.
The world’s NOT SO GOLDEN RULE is to get them before they get you or get them back worse than they got you. But the heart behind Jesus’ words is that we are to deny our own selfishness and choose to treat others the way we want to be treated.
THIS IS HARD…the heart of the golden rule is that we treat others the same way that we want to be treated. Not the way they deserve to be treated. Not the same way that they treated us. Not the way they treated our friend.
Many times, this requires us treating others BETTER than they are treating us. This is tough and so outside of the norm in our world!
To fully understand the heart of the GOLDEN RULE, we have to see the full thought of Christ as He shares it, listen to the full lesson here: Luke 6:27-36 – “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.
“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”
You see when we are good to the people that are good to us, that doesn’t prove anything. When we love the people that love us, that doesn’t prove anything. But, when we extend kindness to those that have never extended it to us, then we are impacting people and acting out this great lesson.
Do you realize how much society would change if all of us began to live by this concept?
Cure for bullying, abusive relationships loneliness and being left out
GOLDEN RULE
Cure for dealing with our children, tough teachers, parents and those in authority…Golden Rule
The Golden Rule is God’s answer to our problems.

Me lastimaste, yo te lastimé peor. Me avergüenzas, voy a recuperarte aún peor.

CASA of Liberty/Chambers Counties recruits, trains and supervises Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers to advocate for children involved in the child welfare system and improve their well-being.
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers provide a consistent, stable, caring adult, and a reliable resource for children and youth during times of great uncertainty and transition when removed from their homes which research shows improves mental health outcomes, regardless of the circumstances of their case.
Having a CASA volunteer gives children and youth greater hope and optimism for a brighter future, which are strong protective factors that support positive mental health.
Mental and behavioral health support is the largest unmet health need for children and teens in foster care, with
up to 80% experiencing significant mental health needs due to the complex traumas of separation from family and culture of origin. CASA Volunteers work with legal and child welfare professionals, educators, and service providers to ensure that judges have all the information they need to make the most well-informed decisions for each child.
CASA of Liberty/Chambers Counties serves 100% of children removed from their homes due to Abuse or Neglect in Liberty & Chambers Counties.
233 children were served last year by 91 volunteers. CASA partnered with 282 parents to help address critical safety needs. Family reunification is 103% more likely in cases served with a CASA compared to cases that do not have a CASA assigned.
CASA volunteers not only advocate for children and youth within the court, child welfare and school systems, but also form connections with them that can last for years. A number of young people who age out of the foster care system will maintain a relationship with their CASA volunteer into adulthood.
We are currently expanding our CASA to partner with our communities to build strong networks that provide all families with parenting supports through seminars, group discussions, and individual sessions. We believe every child deserves to grow up in a safe, stable and nurturing environment and that every family deserves to thrive.
In late April volunteers, staff, and board members of CASA of Liberty/Chambers joined with BACA, Bridgehaven, CPS, the Liberty County District Attorney’s Office, and others in a Candlelight Vigil to commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week and Child Abuse Prevention Month.
In 2024, CASA will celebrate 15 years of service to Liberty & Chambers Counties. In our 15 years, we have a documented impact on over 2,000 lives.
If you would like to know more to help individual children or to help us in other areas, please feel free to call our office at 936-334-9000 or visit our website at www.casalctx.org or email us at info@ casalctx.org.

Humble ISD welcomes incoming kindergarten students to elementary campuses this fall – the Class of 2036.
What should parents of these new Humble ISD students be ready for in their first year of kindergarten?
Jill Honeycutt teaches kindergarten at Foster Elementary School. She was the 2022-2023 District Teacher of the Year, and has answered questions for you.
How can parents help prepare their child for kindergarten?
Honeycutt: Kindergarten is an exciting time as students begin to learn to be a part of a community outside of their family. The most important thing that a parent can do to help prepare their child for kindergarten is to help them learn to interact with others. Practice taking turns and sharing. Encourage
your child to use their words to express their feelings and have conversations about the details of their day. Read books together and then discuss with your child what they liked best about the story.
What can your student expect in their first year of kindergarten?
Honeycutt: Kindergarten is a year of incredible growth! Your student will learn to read, write, and develop foundational skills in math and science. Kindergarteners are naturally curious and they learn to observe the world around them and draw conclusions based on their experiences. This is the beginning of your student's educational journey and they will learn to take ownership of their learning! They will begin to understand themselves as a part of a larger learning community and see how their presence and contributions are valuable.
Students entering kindergarten must be five years old on or before September 1 to qualify for kindergarten. Registration is open now and parents can register by visiting humbleisd.net/kindergarten
The Humble ISD Education Foundation offers “Kinder Club” for all students entering kindergarten. With a donation of $20 your child will get a Kinder Club shirt with his/her graduation year and a drawstring backpack with educational goodies!
Above, students enjoy playing at Park Lakes Elementary School’s new safari-themed playground.
Kindergarten is about developing social and emotional skills through play that will serve our students well their whole lives. It is focused on the developmental needs of our youngest learners. The goal is for our youngest students to build friendships, stay creative and innovative, build skills and love learning.

Cleveland Independent School District (CISD) is proud to offer a range of exceptional Career Tech programs that empower students and equip them with valuable skills for their future careers. In this article, we highlight three standout programs: Culinary Arts, Welding, and Robotics. Let’s explore the remarkable achievements and opportunities that await the talented students of Cleveland ISD.
Under the leadership of Andi Pope, the Culinary Arts program at Cleveland High School has achieved tremendous success both regionally and statewide.
At the district level, the students competed in various categories, including Employment Application Process, Culinary Arts, Commercial Baking, Restaurant Service, and Career Pathway Showcase. Their exceptional performance led to remarkable positions, with the team securing 3rd place in Employment Application Process, 1st place in Culinary Arts, 4th place in Commercial Baking, and 2nd and 3rd places in Restaurant Service. The students’ achievements were further recognized as two of them were elected as District Officers for the upcoming school year, highlighting their leadership skills and dedication.
In addition to their success in competitions, the Culinary Arts students often showcase their talents at local events. Recently, the students participated in the highly anticipated Taste of Cleveland event. Competing against 30+ other businesses, organizations, and churches, Cleveland ISD Culinary Arts demonstrated their culinary expertise. Their signature dish, the Mini Beef Wellingtons, captivated the taste buds of attendees and garnered recognition. At the conclusion of the event, Cleveland ISD Culinary Arts was honored with the prestigious Best Overall Food award, cementing their reputation for excellence.
Under the leadership of Jim Baxter, the Welding program at Cleveland High School has achieved remarkable success and recognition.
Throughout the 2022-2023 school year, the welding students amassed an impressive total of 63 certifications, solidifying their expertise in the field. These certifications include various levels of proficiency in welding techniques such as SMAW and GMAW, covering areas like plate welding and pipe welding. Their commitment to excellence has not gone unnoticed, as the students secured a staggering $139,500 in scholarships.
Bryan Ramirez, a junior in welding II, emerged as a standout competitor, participating in nine Level III competitions. He showcased his proficiency by earning five certifications per AWS, including achievements in plate welding and pipe welding using SMAW and GMAW techniques. Ramirez’s exceptional performance was rewarded with $29,500 in scholarships, a testament to his skill and dedication to his craft.
Israel Briones, a senior in welding I, made a significant impact despite it being his first year at CISD. Briones quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with, starting in Level I and earning certifications in SMAW and GMAW plate welding. His determination propelled him to advance to Level III, where he obtained a certification in SMAW pipe welding. Briones secured $1,500 in scholarships, reflecting his remarkable progress and dedication.

Jacob Becerra, a junior in Intro to Welding, overcame the challenges posed by NCCER Core, a curriculum that limited his welding time during school hours. Undeterred, Becerra showcased his drive and motivation by staying after school three to four days a week to pursue his passion for welding. His perseverance paid off as he earned a certification in FCAW plate welding and was awarded $500 in scholarships.
Under the leadership of Brian Stafford, the Robotics program at Cleveland High School is making waves in the world of aeronautics and engineering.
The Robotics program reached an extraordinary milestone as the Aeronautical Engineering or drone class achieved a 100% passing rate on the FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone licensing exam. This remarkable accomplishment allows Cleveland ISD students to enter the workforce as highly sought-after drone pilots immediately after graduating high school, with starting salaries of up to $85,000 per year.
In addition to excelling in the field of drones, a student named Jorge Penna made history by becoming the first-
ever from Cleveland High School to pass the FAA Private Pilot Ground School Exam. His exceptional achievement earned him acceptance into the Pilot Program at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, widely regarded as the most prestigious aeronautical university in the world. This recognition not only highlights the student’s dedication and skill but also speaks to the quality of education and mentorship provided by the Robotics program at CISD.
Looking to the future, the Robotics program is set to embark on new ventures. Cleveland High School will be one of only 30 high schools in the country to participate in the groundbreaking Tango Flight program. Through this program, students will have the opportunity to build an FAA Airworthiness Certified airplane, specifically a Van’s RV-12iS. This hands-on experience will not only deepen their understanding of aviation and aerospace but also provide practical skills in engineering and robotics. The program, offered as a dual credit opportunity through WSU, will also present students with the chance to pursue FAA exam certification and avail themselves of a scholarship exclusively offered by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Recipients of this scholarship can receive $5,000 per year, renewable for up to four years, totaling $20,000.
Cleveland ISD’s Career Tech programs in Culinary Arts, Welding, and Robotics are transforming the lives of students and preparing them for successful futures. The achievements of the Culinary Arts students at SkillsUSA, the exceptional welding certifications earned by dedicated individuals, and the groundbreaking accomplishments of the Robotics program highlight the district’s commitment to excellence. By providing students with practical skills, real-world experiences, and opportunities for certifications and scholarships, Cleveland ISD is empowering its students to shine brightly in their chosen careers.

Recently, someone repeatedly knocked on our front door and it turned out to be quite an unexpected encounter. A persistent and determined individual insisted on being heard. When my husband opened the door, a man in uniform greeted him and said he was from our new alarm company.
The technician explained that his company had acquired our previous alarm system provider and as part of the transition process, he came to replace our control panel with a new one, all at no charge. To sweeten the deal, the technician assured him that the new company’s pricing would be significantly lower than our current bill. However, when my husband said that our existing bill was already below the technician’s proposed offer, he wanted to know the exact amount we were paying.
The technician left without receiving an answer to his question or my husband accepting his offer. Later, my husband contacted our alarm company directly and found out that they had not been sold, nor had a technician been dispatched.
Instances like these serve as a reminder that the enemy will try to use deception and temptation to draw us away for God’s plan for our lives. He will even make his plan sound good and look good but it is still a trap.
In Proverbs 14:15, the word of God tells us that “The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps.” One way we give thought to our steps is to use our God-given discernment. Discernment is like a “Spiritual Warning Alarm” within us to let us know something is not right with what we are hearing, something is not quite right with what we are seeing, or something is not quite right with what we are feeling.
Throughout life, we must remain vigilant and cautious to protect ourselves from those who seek to deceive and discourage us. Our ability to discern the truth is a gift from God and it is only by relying on this gift that we can hold on to the blessings that He has given us.

For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.” ~Cynthia Occelli
For our summer garden this year we decided to build raised garden beds to grow our vegetables in. After weeks of planning and building, we finally got the forms built, the seeds were planted, and we began to watch our garden come alive.
One morning while watering the plants, I looked at the different vegetables growing, each in their own row, and thought how each plant grows without comparing itself to the other vegetables beside it. The banana pepper does not look over to the tomato plant and say, “I wish I could grow as round and red as you are.” And the tomato plant does not say to the cucumber, “I would
like to be long and green like you.” Instead, they each just grow and develop into what they were created to be.
Just as in life, to wish you were someone else, is a waste of the person you were created to be. Like the seed cracking open to grow its fruit, your struggles have prepared you to be in the path of someone that needs to be blessed by what you can give. Nothing is more exciting than seeing your seed turn into something that blooms.
Here are a few things to keep in mind as you start planting seeds in your own life:
1. Seeds take time to grow.
A whole garden isn’t created overnight, and neither is the life you were meant to live. Some seeds can sit dormant for several years before something triggers them to germinate.
2. Seeds must change to grow.
A seed can’t stay a seed forever. When cared for with nourishing soil, rays of sunlight, and water, they change shape and start to become whatever it is they were meant to be. To really experience positive change, you too, must let go of your past and embrace the transformation that’s about to take place. Have confidence knowing you will take on a better form, even if it takes time.
3. When a seed flowers, everyone recognizes its beauty. Sometimes we have to weed out the negative thoughts that hinder us from growing into our purpose. In a flower garden or a vegetable garden, whether the plant produces a rose bush or corn, everyone appreciates it for whatever it is meant to offer. Continue to grow and just be you.
Like a beautiful flower attracts butterflies, your life will be a magnet to the right kind of people that will truly make it one worth living.
