Tiger happenings By Curt Guillory

A major part of any LSU Tiger program is being active in the community. So, it should come as no surprise that when LSU basketball head coach Will Wade wanted to institute a season of giving that he started at previous schools, it was warmly received. Coach Wade, along with the rest of the team and coaching staff, took 25 children from the Baton Rouge Boys and Girls Club on a Christmas shopping spree. According to Coach Wade, “To come out and give some those kids a little bit better Christmas maybe than they would have had is a great thing.” While the children picked out toys from their wish lists, the spirit of giving was not lost on them as one child picked out a rose for him Mom. Yes, your heart is smiling.

It’s hard to have a conversation about career sporting excellence without mentioning Seimone Augustus and Sylvia Fowles. Adding to their already illustrious careers, the two former Lady Tigers were among the 29 recently named to 201720 USA Basketball Women’s National Team pool. Members of this pool will be named to the 2018 USA World Cup Team. Augustus and Fowles are in good company as collectively the twenty-nine-member pool has amassed 100 gold medals, two silvers and four bronze medals in official competitions. That’s some serious hardware. Great job ladies. You are the pride of the bayou!
