Midival Punditz is the brainchild of childhood friends, Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj. In 1997, after being bored with the remix and Bollywood driven music scene in India, the boys started producing original electronic music and sending out demo tracks to labels and other producers. Simultaneously, their monthly parties, Cyber Mehfil started becoming hugely popular and soon achieved cult status. Other artists and producers in the US & UK quickly recognized their efforts. Word spread about the boys, and they came to be known as ‘The new sound of 21st Century India’. It was in 2000 that Six Degrees Records, home label of producer friend, Karsh Kale, became interested in signing the Punditz and by 2001 they were the first electronic music act from India to ever sign an international album deal. Since that time they have produced extensively with Six Degrees records viz. 3 studio albums, a remix album and a compilation. They have been featured internationally, on over 50 Compilations, across the globe. Their most recent release ‘Hello Hello’ has been received with much critical praise. The real magic of the Punditz artistry is captured in their live performances. After touring extensively all over the world, the Punditz have styled a unique and revolutionary live act that is electronic but yet Live and has room for jamming, innovating, remixing and creation while on stage; thus making no 2 live shows the same. Their performance also features a video background, which is synchronized with the music and captures real-time images and clips of the band performing on stage. The Punditz have pioneered this unique live setup and their performances are unlike any other electronic act. They have most recently started a music production unit for film with longtime collaborator Karsh Kale. Their first project under this banner is the Bollywood film Karthik Calling Karthik starring Farhan Akthar and Deepika Padukone. Midival Punditz have moved from strength to strength and each year their pioneering work adds to the Punditz arsenal that now stands tall in a global electronica market.

Techno trance, or something that most of admires of this sound like to call, “psychedelic techno” entering again trough big door of speakers on many respected events around the globe. Big labels today, like, Boshke Beats, Nachstrom Schallplatten, Horns and Hoofs, Traum Schallplatten, Digital Diamonds, Kompass Musik, Wonkator, etc…, release more and more of this sound and presenting to scene a lot of seniors and juniors who step in to the world of fearless differences in nowadays music. We, from Soundmute recordings, trying to keep same tempo of support with our contribution to this beautiful story. Last year was highly productive and a lot of releases was born and with them a new energy on stage and the dance floor. Polish producer and one of the best today, Jurek Przezdziecki, publish his maxi single on Boshke Beats with amassing remixes from artists like, Robert Babicz, Adam jay, Excizen, Max Pollyui and Alic. This strong record was played by many respectable DJs and i believe from a lot of fans on home stereo. Digital record “Ego Tripping” maxi single from The Rockitman with remixes. One serious releases that point on this scene as sweet threat to “ruin” many club and festival floors. Digital Diaonds comes, with Kino Oko, Frechbax and new Alic compilation from series of “Digital Family”, in 3rd edition. Do not think twice with plying these tracks, cause you loosing your precious time for enjoy. Horns and Hoofs “droped” for us one retrospective VA as warm up for new releases with Progus, Deto, Glen, Fuzzion, Kino Oko and Max Pollyul. Label that I like to call “Vinyl Plantations”, Nachstrom Schallplatten, have 8
a biggest treat on plastic for all serious DJs who spin by touch, not by click. Very strong selection. Even for some of artist that I never heard of, my ears are!!! Do we need something like that? Hell YEAH!! Big release was full length studio album from Excizen project by name of “Beauty will save the world”. Heavy tunes with fusion of mechanical beats, fat and dub basslines with twisted moments inside. One of greatest refreshment was project by Cristopher Gruning & H Kim. Also Taras Vinichenko aka Tar Beat, showed some moves trough his maxi single with his friends that helped by remixing original theme of “Tortuga” EP. Collaboration of Cybered and Opsy and united forces from Opsy & Excizen as REZOLUT and their debut EP called “Earpolluter”. New sound, is all I can say!!! Of course, on the top of the cake comes Extrawelt with amazing achievement on Cocoon recordings, 2nd album “In Aufruhr”. A lot of great tunes all of you can check from newest OPSY “Mature Behavior” DJ set which is available for download on official Soundmute recordings web site. The fact that, 2011 offered a lot of good releases from mentioned style, is undeniable, as much as fact that their influence is equally inevitable. Entering in 2012 with this style will bring much more then we can expect. So stay tuned and welcome new world chapter of electronic dance music. - interview 1) Can you bring us all into your world of music making for a moment, and tell us how you first came into making trance? Our story is actually mutual, we both I (Osh) and Ilan started to listen to Goa Trance music back in the mid 90’s when the Goa Trance movement was just starting to take effect across Israel, and when the parties were very underground and smaller then today. 2) Where does your love for this specific genre of progressive trance come from? Our inspiration comes from many things, we usually inspired from beautiful places we get to travel and visit, from different kind of music, that can be ambient, chill out, rock and anything that sounds good enough to get influence from, we also love to take inspiration from festivals and parties we get to play in. 3) What makes your current project unique from ones in the past? Ilan: I am part of a PsyTrance band, called Numb (together with Liran Shimson), our album is almost ready, and will be released on Noya Records (Xerox record label), during the beginning of 2012. 4) Is there any one destination in the world that has made a mark on your music career in particular? If so, where? It’s hard for us to say, because we always get feedbacks from all kind of people from many different countries. 5) In one essence,one vibration,what word best describes your music? Organic 6) We are very interested in hearing about your most memorable moment in all of your performances? The best moment you can get from any event, usually happens when the entire experience of the event gather all the people in the party / festival to become one. Words can’t describe this feeling. 7) Are there “spiritual “ aspects involved while playing /producing /recording your sounds? How does this effect your listeners on an energetic level? It’s hard to say actually, because music in any kind of genre always change and develop, by sound and techniques. 8) What other talented artists among you inspire you to create? Sure there is, were both very spiritual people, energies effects us, and making music for us it’s to express our self in the studio, and playing our own music is giving a message trough it, we actually believe in creating music that could fit to the mind, soul and the dance floor. 09. What artists in your own music genere inspired you to make your own music and how did you go about releasing your first album? We get inspired from all kind of electronic producers, if we can mention few it will be, Ace Ventura, Zen Mechanics, Liquid Soul, Rocky, and some more. We love to work in our studio, trying to developing our own sound and style, about our album, still no plans for 2012, but we have some releases schedule for 2012, that will include our music on labels such as, Echoes, Iboga, HOMmega, and more. 10. 1. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself- and how you became involved in the Psytrace/Goa Trance music scene ? Yaniv ben Ari ,Born in Haifa 1978 ,Got into trance around two hours after he took it in 1998. Married, lives in Tel Aviv city,no kids yet. 2. What inspires you the most as a Psychedelic World Music artist ? I just love this community, i met many dear and talented ppl from all corners of the world which im also working with. 3. Do you have any other side projects that you are currently working on? Well i just finished a double U-Recken studio album called”A light at the end of the World” that needs to go for mastering. 4.Tell us please about the Tree Of Life Festival ? I have NEVER workd as hard on anything as we work on this baby Tree now...not joking! 5. Use one word to describe the overall essence of your sound? Passion. 6. Please share your favorite moments in psytrance clubs, festivals,parties,etc. with our readers? Ozora 2010 set with that Mist in the valley was very amazing experience. 7. What do you think the future holds for this psytrance music? It will always be there and its growing bigger,we are still very depended on political things,and i hope that we will use this power we have to become something they cannot stop. 8. Are there spiritual connections linked to your tracks? how do they influence you energentically while performing? I dont know why, but im very connected to the feelings of the global world, thats whats inspire me most when i make music 9. What inspired you to make your own music and how did you go about releasing your first album? I decided to build a studio but had no money, so i did my first Party along with 3 other partners and we booked Blanka, Panic black and white & Time luck,music that at this times was simply ow. guess it was ment to be. coz two days Later i had a normal computer and monitors,so i could seat down and wright tunes.

-Z- (alpha & antagon) THE PROJECT: It´s just 3 years ago, that Alpha and Antagon started their 1st sessions. In the meantime the EP “All Consuming Fire” and right after the album “Revo” were released as well as different trax on different compilations. The concept behind the project is still the same: playing with different styles (EBM, Industrial, Dark Psychedelic Trance) without copying images, but to merge things together for a unique sound. For sure, a lot of artists want this, but the project has really developed a “-Z-Sound”. This was and is proved since the beginning with surprisingly a lot of live gigs all over, from small clubs to big festivals like VuuV-Festival (ger), O.Z.O.R.A.(hun), Boom-Festival (por), Universo Parallelo (bra), Spirit Base (aut), Psycrowdelica (ger) etc. Both artists have a long and different background in the Psytrance Scene, but are congenially joined in a musician project, which let them experience and develop without borderlines. Maybe this is the secret, that the sound of -Z- (alpha & antagon) is working in multi-style-festivals as well as in Modern Psytrance (socalled Dark) events. All products have some collaborations with other cool artists from the scene like Ocelot, Penta, RMX of New Model Army. This tradition is continuing on the new album “Gospodin” with Kindzadza (rus), Cosmo (slk), Paratox (ger) and Che Guevera (arg). LIVE: Important to know is, that -Z- (alpha & antagon) do it double: the product is the product + live performances are different. In 2012 the guies are working on some gigs -specially selected and spread over the year- with very interesting artists, who support the -Z-Sound with 2 more elements: the groove (drums) and the plank (the guitar). For that reason we are happy to announce Johann Bley (drums) and Tim Schuldt (guitar). In the moment -Z- (alpha & antagon) are even trying to get in touch with some more cool guitar-players, because all of the friends artists are heavily involved in a lot of projects. THE LABEL: Signing Sangoma Records is a new step forward under the name of synergy. One labelhead Dasksinamurti is a wellknown friend and the other head Gata Freak will become a new one. All of this group are open in style developments, testing new spheres of music and finding ways of spreading the tunes.
