Learning with Us

Early Years and Key Stage 1

Moving on to Key Stage 2

Children can first join us in one of our Reception classes at Henry Hinde Infant School.

When pupils reach Year 3 they will have the opportunity to move on to Henry Hinde Junior School.

In the Early Years and Key Stage 1, we set down the foundations for a lifetime of learning and place a huge emphasis upon the key skills of literacy and numeracy.

Building upon their time in the Infants, we encourage children to foster critical thinking skills through a broad and balanced curriculum at Key Stage 2.

We believe that children learn best when we build on their natural curiosity, thirst for knowledge and enthusiasm for learning, so we encourage children to learn through play, developing their knowledge, social and communication skills along the way.

Our curriculum is designed to provide inspiring and engaging experiences that help our pupils to build the knowledge and skills required to become independent, lifelong learners.

Learning outdoors is also a key feature of our approach, with dedicated outdoor learning spaces and Forest School provision to facilitate every part of learning.

We encourage every child to achieve the highest standards of learning and presentation and to be confident and express themselves clearly and imaginatively. We want our pupils to explore and experiment, to experience the joy of learning, and apply the knowledge they have gained to reach their full potential throughout their lives.

We are incredibly proud of our pupils and take every opportunity to celebrate their success. Good progress, hard work and good behaviour are also rewarded in a variety of ways.

“Our curriculum is designed to provide inspiring and engaging experiences.”

“ There is something for everyone to try, learn more about and build their talents in.”

Outstanding Opportunities

We are committed to making the most of opportunities to broaden our pupils’ horizons – both in and out of the classroom. Music, art, drama, dance and sport are all important features of life at Henry Hinde. We offer a range of cultural trips and residentials for the children to enjoy. In addition, we hold regular themed days and charity events as well as hosting inspirational guest speakers and author visits. Our exciting programme of events and activities encourages pupils to explore the world around them and there is something for everyone to try, learn more about and build their talents in.

Pupil Support

Inclusion

The wellbeing of every child is the most important aspect of any school and a young person who feels supported, confident, happy and safe is likely to thrive.

Henry Hinde Infants and Juniors are proud to be inclusive communities. We aim to enable all pupils to achieve their potential academically and personally, whatever their needs may be.

Pastoral care, guidance and support is at the heart of our provision for all of our pupils. This includes closely monitoring each child’s progress and acting swiftly with additional support, where needed, to keep everyone on track to succeed.

We pride ourselves on high-quality teaching that meets the needs of all children. This may mean that there are times when children need additional support or a different programme of work.

Successful pastoral care is a partnership between the school and home, so we work hard to build successful relationships with parents and carers and provide many opportunities for families to share in the educational experience. This includes regular newsletters and letters to parents, as well as parents evenings, school productions, sports days and other school-wide events throughout the year.

We will use our best endeavours to ensure this provision is put in place for those who need it, and welcome the involvement of parents throughout this process, working together to achieve the best for every child.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.
