It is recorded that 26,975 ‘pesantrens’ have been established in Indonesia as institutions for the community to seek religious knowledge. However, the inability of some pesantrens to accommodate students has led Muslims to pursue knowledge without a teacher. Hajara’ is designed to be a safe and tranquil place for Muslim students to deepen their knowledge and to shape each user’s perception by cultivating a sense of modesty to form a harmony between the teaching materials and users’ behavior through the created spaces.
Located away from the bustle of the city, with relatively easy accessibility, it is hoped that Hajara’ can become a comfortable place for those who wish to pursue knowledge in a serene environment.

The site prioritizes the contour axis and offers a wide panoramic view.
In religious educational building design, qibla axis placement is pivotal.

The site is divided into three zones along the contour axis, according to the elevation.
The masses are superimposed to enhance accessibility and connectivity. The void creates communal space and reduces bulk.

The number of floors is reduced according to it’s slope shape to minimize ground load and embody simplicity.
The dormitory masses is rotated to the direction of the Qibla, optimizing views and defining solid and void spaces.

The concept of Biophilic Design is applied as a supporting concept in this project. Humans are born with a mission as caliphs to preserve nature and other creations of Allah. The application of biophilic design is expected to create sensitivity among the inhabitants of Hajara’ towards nature so that they can carry out their mission in the world well. In addition, technologies such as PV panels, self-watering green roofs, and rainwater harvesting are also employed as gestures to preserve nature.

Malioboro Street has played a pivotal role in shaping the socioeconomic landscape and administrative fabric of Yogyakarta, tracing back to the colonial era. Serving as the city’s imaginative axis, this historical street has developed through purposeful enhancements of key civic aspects over time, resulting in its transformation into a bustling hub of economic activity in the heart of the city. This has naturally made it a popular route, bustling with visitors.
When welcoming guests, Yogyakarta’s community is renowned for their profound sense of ‘ngajeni’ (respect) creating an environment where visitors experience genuine warmth and comfort. In light of these considerations and objectives, this hotel adopts the concept of Yogyakarta hospitality. Here, the ‘ngajeni’ ethos is not merely evident in the hotel’s patrons but is also expressed in the architectural space itself, characterized by simplicity, reverence, and a heartfelt ambiance.
This project aims to create an environment distinct from the bustling atmosphere of Malioboro, while maximizing the design potential to minimize carbon emissions from the building and emphasizing its cultural essence.

Artotel Batu Belig is strategically located between two of Bali’s most vibrant areas, Canggu and Seminyak. These areas attract a lively crowd, including digital nomads, making the hotel’s location a strategic point for those who thrive on dynamic energy yet seek spaces of respite. The project aims to blend this bustling atmosphere with a sense of calm, offering a ‘home away from home’ for travelers.
Artotel Batu Belig is divided into two main areas: the front houses all the facilities and communal spaces, while the rooms are located at the back of the site. This layout ensures that the communal activities—workspaces, social hubs, and leisure areas—are lively and accessible, yet the rooms remain peaceful and undisturbed by the noise.

The Sixth Station is located in Cilandak, centers around uniting a traditional Joglo house from Solo with a contemporary new structure. The owner, an avid art collector, seeks a design that seamlessly integrates the Joglo and their artwork collection. The design approach focuses on abstracting elements of the Joglo to incorporate into the new building, ensuring that the new structure complements rather than competes with the traditional house. The result is a harmonious balance where the new building becomes a subtle backdrop, allowing the Joglo to remain the focal point of the home.
