How to choose a style for drawing?

Everyone is always talking about finding a style for drawing. But what is it, and how do you find this style? All people have different ideas and views on life, different preferences, and characteristics. Still, I believe that you shouldn't push yourself too much into a box, because it's better to develop in a versatile way. Therefore, you need your own style to make your works stand out and be recognizable.

Don't be afraid to try something new. This is how you will be able to broaden your horizons and understand what you like. If you've been drawing with a pencil for a long time, try pastels, watercolors, or acrylics. Tastes change all the time, and that's okay. If you used to love watercolor, you may not like it now.

Draw people, portraits, animals, landscapes, etc. Try to set aside some time for this every day. This way, you will improve your skills and understand what is more interesting to you, and what colors, details, and techniques resonate with you. What inspires you? In this way, over time, you will realize what is "yours".

1. Experiment 2. Draw a lot

3. Look at the works of other artists

I recommend creating a board on Pinterest or some other platform where you can store works that you like and which inspire you. Also, try to choose works that are related to what you would like to create.

4. Analyze your own work and that of other artists

Look at your drawings and think about what you like about them. Maybe it's a particular detail, color, or technique. Do the same with your favorite works by other artists. Compare what they have in common. Then you can take some ideas and combine them in your own work.

5. Keep developing

When you have realized in which direction you want to paint, of course, you need to continue working on it. Spend more time drawing, taking part in various challenges, and taking courses that relate to your style.

6. Enjoy the process and draw the way you feel

Don't just draw what you think others will like. Draw what is right for you. Try to express yourself, your emotions, and thoughts. It's also really important to enjoy the process of creating your work because it motivates you to work even harder.

Art therapy

Art therapy is a type of psychotherapy based on art and creativity. This technique is based on the use of artistic methods to treat physiological disorders and improve mental health. There are many types of art therapy, for example isotherapy, bibliotherapy, music therapy, drama therapy, dance therapy, puppet therapy, sand therapy, sculpture therapy, phototherapy, etc. People have relied on art for communication, self-expression, and healing for thousands of years. But art therapy did not become an official program until the 1940s.

4

The benefits of art therapy

Many people do not understand their emotions and cannot express them, and it is difficult for them to establish contact with themselves and others. There may be many reasons for this, but it is possible to find and solve these problems in the creative process. Through art, people can better understand themselves, their emotions, desires, and goals. It is also a great way to increase selfesteem, learn self-expression, resolve family conflicts, and improve communication skills. A study found that even less than an hour of creative activity can reduce stress and have a positive impact on a person's mental health, regardless of artistic experience or talent. Also, people who have experienced emotional trauma, violence, or anxiety can benefit from creative expression, as art therapy significantly reduces symptoms of trauma and depression.

History

The term "art therapy" was invented by the artist Adrian Hill when describing his work with tuberculosis patients in sanatoriums. Art therapy works mainly with unconscious processes. The famous psychoanalysts Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud are at its origins. They noticed that a person expresses hidden desires and emotions in art. In 1938, the British doctor and artist Adrian Hill was treated for tuberculosis at the Midhurst sanatorium. In parallel with the main procedures, Hill painted the surrounding landscapes and discovered that creativity distracts from the disease and improves mood. Later, he was invited to teach drawing and painting to other patients, including many soldiers who had returned from the war. The classes significantly helped to reduce their psychological stress. Adrian Hill noticed the positive impact of creativity on the patients' condition and he introduced the concept of "art therapy". Later he described his work with patients in the book Art Versus Illness.

Misconceptions about art therapy

Some people believe that art therapy requires artistic ability. But people of all ages, even children or teenagers, can benefit from it, and it is not important to have talent. Art therapy is also different from a regular art class. During the lesson, people learn different techniques and focus on the result. The goal of therapy is for people to recognize their emotions and express them through art. They pay attention to understanding their feelings and inner world.

What to choose: selfstudy or a course?

When trying to learn something new, such as drawing, we find that there are different approaches to doing so. We can learn on our own and manage our time and resources, or we can find a specialized course that meets our needs and expectations.

While both methods will provide you with relevant knowledge and skills, the results may differ. Thus, we face the question: "What is the best way to learn - self-study or live online education?". Of course, you can learn on your own, and people do it every day. But everyone has their own needs and learning criteria. There are several important factors to consider when choosing a learning method. It all depends on time, cost, accessibility, relevance, and motivation.

Through a structured system, it is possible to save a lot of time because online courses contain all the most important information at once. Thus, students do not need to spend time and effort searching for relevant information and tasks on their own. With self-study, you have a flexible schedule and can manage your time at your own discretion. But if you lack motivation and discipline, this flexibility can turn into a disadvantage. While some courses require a specific syllabus, others allow you to study at your own pace. This way, you can get to the desired results faster.

6
Time

During your course, you will most likely interact with other people. You will have a teacher who will check your assignments and analyze your mistakes. You will also often have the opportunity to communicate with other students. When studying on your own, you won't have someone to explain and check your work. And while self-study may seem a bit isolating, you can still make it more interesting or even find communities of other students who are interested in the same thing where you can find fellowship and support.

Course tuition can be expensive, especially if you take several courses at the same time. Meanwhile, you can find information on your own for free. However, books and other selfstudy materials can also cost money.

6
Interaction Cost 7

Relevance and data flow

There is a lot of information available in the public domain, so you can search for data at your own discretion and choose your own focus. However, the materials may be outdated and difficult to understand. Courses are aimed at a specific target audience, so the information is designed to meet your needs and achieve your goals. You also don't need to do any research, as the materials are prepared by the course developer.

Accessibility

Self-study gives you unlimited access to the information you find, so you can choose additional topics and assignments according to your needs. Access to online courses can be either unlimited or time-limited. Although the student receives only a certain portion of knowledge, it still speeds up the achievement of the goal.

The learning process is diverse and can be adapted to meet your needs. Self-study is a great way to get started. You can take your time and figure things out on your own. Online courses, on the other hand, offer a dose of relevant knowledge at a steady learning pace and save time. Different learning methods have their own advantages and disadvantages that need to be taken into account. Therefore, you should choose what is best for you.13:13

Art in Ukraine during the war

In this difficult time, people need art and culture. It can't stop the war, but music, paintings, literature, and films can help spread information and support citizens.

Right now it is noticeable how people have united during the war. A huge number of museums and works of art have been destroyed, but all citizens are trying not to grieve or despair. Therefore, it is very important to restore culture during the war so that the world does not forget about these events and to show Ukraine's national identity.

9
"Art helps the world not to forget about the war in Ukraine"

Art has a great influence on our surroundings, as many people find salvation in art in times of trouble. It is a huge psychological support. Some people use it, and some create it because for many people it is a way to express their feelings, calm down and show the war in more detail from different perspectives.

For example, here is one of the quotes by Andrea Grill: "Art and culture are powerless in the face of war. No one will write a book or do research when bullets are whizzing by. But they give you the strength to endure the unbearable, not just to accept it, but to think about it and to live through it."

In Ukraine and abroad, artists try to raise the morale of the military, encourage citizens and tell the truth about the war in Ukraine through their work, as information is conveyed to people through culture.

10

Also, creativity is a great material support, because in this way artists help to raise funds for the army. For example, Ukrainian music bands and singers hold charity concerts to support the Armed Forces and Ukrainians who suffered during the war. Artists continue to create works and sell them, sending money to help our army. For example, digital art is also becoming more and more popular today, and you can often see paintings about the war in Ukraine on the Internet, which also helps people raise money.

Today, the works of our singers, directors, painters, and other artists have become powerful tools in the fight against Russian propaganda.

Why is art important for child development?

Art is important for children, especially during their early development.

The importance of engaging children in various types of art is often underestimated: parents believe that it is better to teach their children something else than to develop their creative abilities. However, creativity promotes a child's self-expression, develops creative thinking, and strengthens self-esteem. Art expands a child's ability to interact with the world around them and develops brain capacity in early childhood, as well as skills for communication. It can be a key way for a child to express themselves and be surprised.

Art encourages children's creativity

Creativity is about expressing your own ideas, trying new things, and experimenting. The arts develop a child's creativity, and the best way to do this is to provide a variety of materials and give children time to create on their own instead of telling them what to do. After all, creativity is an essential skill that helps prepare children for the difficulties and challenges of the modern world. Creativity helps children to find innovative solutions to problems and promotes the desire to discover new things. Art is an experience that requires free thinking, experimentation, and analysis.

12

Art helps to develop cognitive skills

Art gives children the opportunity to explore the world, learn and make decisions. It allows children to draw their own conclusions and they realize that a problem can have more than one answer. Instead of following specific rules, a child's brain starts looking for different solutions. During experiments, children also learn how to handle art materials and find new ways to cope with unexpected results.

Art opens up opportunities for self-expression

Artistic activity is one of the best ways for children to express themselves. Children express what they feel and think about the world through their art. In this way, they can express their thoughts, feelings, and ideas that they do not have the words to talk about. Through different types of artistic activities, children can reflect reality as they feel it and unleash their imagination and interests.

Art develops physical abilities

As children use different materials in the process of creating a drawing, they improve their control over their hand muscles and materials, thus developing fine motor skills. Children learn how to hold pencils and brushes correctly to draw a picture, work with scissors, glue paper, etc. Art lessons also help children develop patience, perseverance, and discipline.

6
13

Art develops social and emotional skills

Art has a positive effect on a child's mental health, as it helps to calm down, reduce stress, and learn to understand and express their emotions. Creativity also allows a child to develop a sense of individuality, self-esteem, success, and appreciation for the work of others.

It should be remembered that the most important thing in art for children is the process, not the result. It is in the process of working on a drawing that a child learns to accept his or her mistakes as a chance to create something new and unique. It is important to give children space for fantasies, experiments, and self-expression, as in this way they can really develop many necessary skills.

Fluid art

Fluid art is a popular type of abstract painting that allows you to create unique paintings using liquid acrylics that flow across the canvas and create fascinating color effects. Materials for fluid art are primarily acrylic paints, medium, and canvas. With this simple painting technique, even beginners can create wonderful artwork, because fluid art does not require special skills and a lot of academic knowledge. You will learn the basics of composition and technique, and then you can let your inspiration run wild and start creating fabulous patterns. Abstract acrylic paintings give you the opportunity to experiment with color combinations, as this material is ideal for finding bold solutions in art.

The fluid art technique has become very popular and the creation process is quite simple. It is necessary to prepare the materials and pour the paint in such a way as to get a beautiful drawing. The peculiarity of this style is randomness. When creating a painting, it is impossible to fully control the movement of colors and liquids, which allows random combinations to create unique effects. While traditional painting requires hard work and training, with fluid art, you can create paintings immediately after learning the technique. Since this is a type of abstract painting, you can experiment a lot and not worry about mistakes, because every movement and tilt can create unique lines, spots, and patterns. Painting with liquid acrylics does not involve working by example. This technique is intuitive and experimental, as there are many different techniques of filling and color combinations. But it is impossible to visualize the result in advance.

15

The History of Fluid Art

The technique of liquid acrylic painting was first used by the Mexican artist David Alfaro Siqueiros in the 1930s. He is considered to be the first to experiment with liquid acrylic and discovered unusual effects when fluid colors interact. He called this effect "accidental painting". This technique became the basis of the works of some famous artists, such as Jackson Pollock, who started with "accidental painting" and developed his technique, becoming the most famous abstract expressionist.

Fluid art is a new kind of painting that could not have appeared without the invention of acrylic paints. Acrylic paints, unlike oil paints, are water-soluble. In general, since the late nineteenth century, several revolutions have taken place in the world of painting, which have forever changed the methods and techniques of painting. Previously, mixing paints required extraordinary technical skills and artists made them themselves using their own recipes. Later, oil paints were sold in tubes and synthesized compounds were used as pigments. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Otto Röhm invented acrylic resin, which quickly turned into acrylic paint. This revolutionized the art world and made it possible to acquire a more affordable and less complicated medium for work. Acrylic paint soon gained popularity and became the most popular paint in the world. Acrylic paints are used for painting, fabric decoration, interior design, etc.

"Acrylic pouring is an abstract art. The resulting effect is impossible to repeatthe shapes, colors, and depth are created in a new way every time"

Dutch Pour

Paints of different colors are mixed in separate cups. The canvas is filled with a background paint, most often white, which is distributed over the entire surface. Next, the paint is applied to the canvas in lines or puddles, after which more background paint is poured on the sides of the line to facilitate blowing. Most often, the paint is blown with a hairdryer, directing it in different directions. Then, the resulting drawing can be corrected by breathing. The result is very beautiful and delicate. In order to get cells on the colored stains, you can heat it with a construction hairdryer or a burner, use a special medium, or simply add silicone to one or all of the paints.

There are a variety of techniques for pouring fluid art. For example:

Puddle Pour Flip Cup

The key to creating a work is layering colors. Prepared paint of one color is poured onto the canvas in the form of an even, neat puddle. The first color creates a base, in the center of which a smaller amount of prepared paint of another color is poured, and then another. However, it is important not to overdo it with the number of colors. Ideally, use three or four colors. In addition, white will look good in any combination. You can stretch the pattern across the canvas with rocking movements or blow the paint with a hairdryer.

Paints of different colors are mixed with a medium in separate cups and then poured into one glass. But using this method, the colors do not need to be mixed. You can also add a drop of silicone oil to create "cells". Put a canvas on top of the glass, then turn it over and slowly lift the glass. Then you need to move the canvas smoothly so that the paint is evenly distributed on the surface. Also, instead of pulling the cup straight up, you can quickly pull it at an angle to prevent drops from falling on the filled painting.

Dirty Pour

Paints of different colors are mixed with medium and other auxiliary substances in separate cups and then poured into one cup. In a separate glass, the colors need to be mixed a little and poured onto the canvas in one motion. Then you need to smoothly rotate the canvas so that the paint is evenly distributed on the surface. When the picture stretches, you will see patterns appear in the paint. This technique is very similar to Flip Cup, with the only difference being that the colors in Dirty Pour are mixed, while in Flip Cup they are simply layered on top of each other.

How to start creating Fluid Art paintings

To get started, you need to purchase all the necessary materials and prepare them in advance to concentrate on your creativity and not be distracted in the process. To create a painting using the Fluid Art technique, you will need acrylic paints, medium (you can replace it with water or PVA glue), and canvas. Before you start applying liquid acrylic, you need to prepare the canvas. To do this, you should completely paint it with undiluted acrylic paint. You can paint the canvas with white paint, or choose another color that will become the background for your painting. You need to choose a color palette. You can use a few colors, or ten. Choose at your own discretion. I recommend looking at works on websites or social media and getting ideas for your palette. To prepare the paints, pour the required amount of paint of the selected colors into separate glasses and mix with water, medium, or PVA. Depending on the painting technique you choose, you can either leave each color in different glasses or mix all the colors in one glass. Using the technique, start creating a painting. To protect your painting, you can then varnish it. Allow the painting to dry completely so as not to spoil the composition, and cover it with a thin layer of varnish with a wide brush. Your artwork is ready!

"When you read the smart words of others, your own smart thoughts come to mind"

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*uck

We live in a culture that is obsessed with overly optimistic expectations. Since childhood, we have been imposed unrealistic ideals that we strive to achieve no matter what. Constantly chasing success and happiness, we try to avoid any negative experiences. However, negative experience, according to Mark Manson, is extremely valuable: it frees us from the mirage of happiness. You just need to understand that life cannot have only bright colors. That's why it's important to take everything calmly and carefully. In the book, we learn that we need to stop trying to be positive all the time and finally become better and happier.

Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel

The process of thinking is very important for us. But how does our brain work? In the book, we learn that there are two systems of thinking. Based on research in cognitive and social psychology, Daniel Kahneman reveals the secrets of the human brain, describes unconscious biases, the properties of intuitive and conscious thinking, and the role of emotions in value judgments. It often takes us a very long time to make a simple choice, and often this choice can be wrong. Thinking, Fast and Slow will teach you how to use your limited attention resources efficiently, make decisions under conditions of uncertainty, and improve your own judgment.

Colors in art

What is color in art?

Color surrounds us everywhere, and in works of art, artists use it to depict and describe a subject. It is a very important component of a painting because artists use their knowledge of color to convey the atmosphere, light, and depth of a picture, and to emphasize the plot. If used correctly, colors can convey a mood and evoke an emotional response from the viewer.

Each color has a specific association. Revealing the meaning of colors in drawings can be quite difficult because today there are many theories and approaches to interpreting color symbolism that explain the choice and use of a particular color in a drawing. Researchers recognize that colors reflect a person's emotional state, feelings, mood, and relationships. The color in a drawing can indicate the presence of a balance in life spheres or tell us that there is no such balance.

What is color theory and how it works

Color theory is a set of principles that define the relationship between colors and the physiological effects of certain color combinations. Color theory is a fundamental basis of knowledge for artists to understand the relationship between colors, mixing and matching guidelines, and how we perceive them.

A color wheel is a circle made up of different colors that help us understand how they relate to each other and how they can be combined. Traditionally, the color wheel is divided into primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. Primary colors are blue, red, and yellow, which cannot be formed by any combination of other colors. Piet Mondrian, for example, used primary colors in his abstract painting "Composition with Red, Blue and Yellow". Combining primary colors, we get secondary colors, green, orange, and purple. A mixture of primary and secondary colors gives us tertiary colors, which usually have two-word names.

23

The history of studying color

The phenomenon of color has been of interest to mankind since ancient times. People have tried to explain this phenomenon, to find out its impact on the brain and mind. Attempts to develop a theory of color date back to the times of Plato and Aristotle. Scientists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Isaac Newton, and Hegel were also concerned with color issues.

The first known theory of color is associated with the name of the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle. He believed that all colors come from white and black - light and darkness. Aristotle argued that all colors are formed by mixing white and black in different proportions. So he developed a linear system "from lighter to darker". Aristotle's linear sequence can be observed throughout the day: white turns yellow at noon, then changes to orange, then red. After sunset, red turns purple, and then night falls with its dark blue, almost black sky.

In the 1660s, the English physicist and mathematician Isaac Newton began a series of experiments with sunlight and prisms. He developed the first color wheel with seven colors and demonstrated that pure white light is composed of seven visible colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. These colors make up the visible spectrum, the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that the human eye can see. Having experimentally substantiated the existence of the colors of the rainbow, Newton paved the way for other scientists to experiment with color. His work has led to breakthroughs in optics, physics, chemistry, and the perception and study of color in nature. Since Newton created the color wheel, it has become one of the most powerful tools available to artists to explain the relationship between colors.

Green in the picture is associated with the natural meaning of green, which represents stability and progress, and symbolizes development, growth, and prosperity. It is also the color of harmony, balance, and security. It is calming and refined, with great healing power.

Blue is the color of the sea and the sky, it has the property of cool space and openness. It is a soft, calming, and caring color of safety, dreams, harmony, and trust. Sometimes it represents wisdom and steadfast character. But blue can also be associated with melancholy and the presence of distance, alienation, and reflection.

Purple is a color that characterizes spirituality, truth, and quality in a positive way. It is a royal and dignified color. However, on the other hand, purple is the color of fear, decadence, and the fading of life. It can evoke feelings of disappointment, depicting gloom and sadness.

The psychology of color theory

Each color has its own special meaning and influence on human life and behavior. Therefore, we can use psychological triggers to influence how we want the viewer to perceive the picture.

Red symbolizes passion and love, selfassertion and strength, excitement and impulsiveness. Red emphasizes an uncomplicated personality with a thirst for life. In a drawing, it can also signify emotional tension, danger, anger, and a desire for revenge. In the physiological sense, red is associated with blood.

Orange is a cheerful color and symbolizes inexhaustible energy, strength, freedom, and creativity; it encourages travel and self-discovery. This color always has a beneficial effect on human life, as it inspires optimism and shows the joyful aspects of life. It can be assertive, dynamic, and spontaneous, and it signifies youth and fearlessness.

Yellow is associated with the sun, warmth, joy, and positive emotions. It creates a sense of hope, happiness, and wisdom. This color characterizes originality, joy, cheerfulness, and freedom and evokes an optimistic sense of well-being and natural light.

How can artists sell their work today and earn money?

There's a common stereotype that making money as an artist can be quite difficult. But in today's world, artists have many opportunities to earn money. Knowing about the different ways can help you diversify your sources of income and achieve your financial goals.

Work to order

Painting to order is a very good option. You can promote yourself through social media or become a freelancer on an exchange. The most popular exchanges are Upwork, Fiverr, and Freelancer. An artist is asked to do something unique and individual for a client, according to their brief. You will need to start building your portfolio so that potential clients can see examples of your work. Orders can bring in a good income, especially if you have a good reputation and an impressive portfolio. You can also ask for feedback after the work is done, which will increase the chances of getting an order.

Sell your finished work

The first way to make money as an artist is to sell your work. Unlike custom work, this way you can simply post your finished paintings on the Internet, social media, websites, and blogs. In this way, customers look for work themselves. But selling original works involves many stages, such as putting them up for sale, promoting them, delivering them, and so on. You can set the price yourself, but you should do some research to find out how much other artists' works cost, your level of experience, the demand of your target audience, etc.

27

Selling art on Instagram

Instagram has become one of the most popular social networks for artists. But the more popular your Instagram account is and the more followers you have, the higher the demand for your art. By selling on Instagram, you are simultaneously showcasing and promoting your work and directing buyers into a sales funnel. If you want to get more potential customers, it's important to promote yourself and share your work to spread the word. So, post highquality images, publish regular posts, write creative captions, and use relevant hashtags.

Teaching art

Another way to make money as an artist is to share your knowledge and experience. But first, you have to decide what type of teaching is best for you: online or offline. If you want to help people with their studies and make money, then developing your own online course is a great option. This way, you can turn teaching into a form of passive income. Since you only need to prepare the material once, it can generate income over a long period of time. You can also offer drawing lessons or hold master classes.

Selling artwork as an NFT

If you are a digital artist, you can make money by selling your artwork as NFTs. NFT is a non-fungible token. Nonfungibility means uniqueness, originality, and the impossibility of replacing one object with another. Each NFT contains a digital signature that makes the token unique. This is a way to transfer unique objects from the real world to the blockchain. There are many sites where you can place your tokens. For example, some of them are OpenSea and Foundation.

Images for microstock

Microstocks are websites where authors post their works for further sale. It is convenient to work with microstock because the image remains in the system after uploading. You can place illustrations, clip art, web design graphics, vector graphics, comics, infographics, photos, etc. on the marketplace. For each sale, the author receives a monetary payment in accordance with the contract and tariffs. The low prices are compensated by the fact that the image can be sold an unlimited number of times. All sales are made online. The most popular stocks are Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, and Freepik.

Competitions and grants

There are many international programs and organizations that support artists and offer grants. You can search the Internet and find at least a few contests or programs where you can participate and win cash or other prizes. This is also a great opportunity to showcase your work and even gain fame, as participants and winners are often featured on websites or social media. However, this option is not a constant and reliable source of income, because grants and contests are not regular and you will not always win.

Neurographic art

Neurographics is a creative method of transforming the world, with the help of which you can change yourself and the surrounding reality. It is a graphic method of organizing thinking, transforming one's state and attitude to a problem in synthesis with the principles of art therapy, psychology, and art. Its task is to help a person not just comprehend reality, but to modify it and turn it into a new one, to start managing and influencing life.

Neurographics is used to:

⁃ work through anger, fears, and anxiety, and turn them into positive emotions

⁃ eliminate internal conflicts better understand yourself, your goals, and your social environment

⁃ relieve a person from suppressed feelings of guilt, anger, and shame and other emotions that have arisen due to psychological trauma

⁃ develop a non-standard approach to solving problems in the professional and financial sphere, in the field of career and business

⁃ plan events and changes for the better

⁃ achieve inspiration, find original solutions

⁃ build relationships with family, colleagues, and friends

Neurographics works due to the fact that a person's attitude to the situation, people, and life changes and is completely independent of the fluctuations of the outside world.

30

The language is based on 4 basic archetypes: a circle, a triangle, a square, and a special neurographic line, which allows you to change patterns and open up new opportunities on the way to a goal, transform existing neural connections, and create new ones. This is the main principle of neurographic art. Briefly, it can be summarized as follows: A circle is a positive principle that symbolizes harmony, safety, integrity, and trust. The square represents reliability, stability, strength, and organization. The triangle is an active life position, determination, and challenge. On the other hand, it symbolizes aggression, conflict, and danger. A line is a process, an aspiration, a movement. A line connects some elements of life and leads somewhere. It is necessary for connecting figures into a single composition and forming new neural connections in the human cerebral cortex.

When we begin to give meaning to the figures, consciousness fixes this connection, and we develop emotions about each figure. By creating compositions of simple shapes on a sheet of paper and connecting them with a line, we form an impression. In this way, we generate a simple graphic code of change for the mind. The neural connections are reconfigured, and we start thinking and acting differently, which naturally changes the way people treat us and our environment and makes it possible to make non-standard decisions.

Neurographics makes it possible to remove internal restrictions and form a new neural code that will meet the task at hand. By drawing, we change the impression of reality, form a new one, and begin to control the circumstances.

For neurographics, you will need a sheet of paper, pencils, and markers. Usually, A4 thick paper is the best choice for the work. However, some people choose large sheets of paper to give them more room for creativity. You will need colored pencils (preferably watercolors). Also, buy a black 0.4-0.5 mm liner (you can replace it with a thin felt-tip pen) and a 1-1.5 mm waterproof black marker. And of course, highlighters for the text will be useful, because they are faster to work with and the picture will be brighter.

"Neurographic art is a technology for managing your life through drawing"

How does it work?

Actualization of the problem.

You need to decide what you want to work with. Choose a topic that evokes negative emotions, internal contradictions, anxiety, and fear. The emotions that a problem or issue evokes are important here, it's the difference between what exists and what you want. Here you need to collect tension as energy, which should result in a spontaneous chaotic line on paper.

Smoothing out the corners.

An angle is a conflict. A circle is a source of power. Therefore, sharp angles and intersections of lines in a drawing indicate the presence of internal conflicts. To get rid of them, you need to identify all the angles that were formed when the lines crossed and smooth them, round them, and paint over them. This is where reality is transformed and psychological limitations are removed. When resistance arises, it is important to overcome it, because resistance is the unwillingness and difficulty of change. But our task is to remove the limitations of the individual, so all corners must be rounded! During the implementation, it is important to observe how the feelings and emotions that arose at the first stage have changed.

Unification, integration.

Next, you need to combine the individual parts of the drawing into single shapes by coloring them with markers or colored pencils. This work helps reduce internal tension and conflict, releasing positive energy that can help solve problems.

Borders and lines of the field

A neurographic line is a line that does not repeat itself at any point in its movement, and we lead it to places where we do not expect to see it. Put a marker on a sheet of paper, feel the contact with the paper, and start intuitively drawing the line. As soon as you want to change the direction of the line and you anticipate its direction, move the marker not where you want it to go, but change it to any other direction. By drawing a neurographic line, you combine the desires of the unconscious with conscious decisionmaking. You begin to lay new paths in your mind. The easier it is to draw a neurographic line, the more ready you are for changes in your life. Think about a topic that worries you and draw lines dedicated to these thoughts. In the process of drawing, the entire sheet is filled with lines that can overlap, collide, or merge. At the same time, attention should be focused on the drawing process itself.

You need to connect the drawing and the surrounding background with lines so that the drawing merges with the background. This is identifying ourselves with the issue that concerns us and merging with the environment. Next, we have to identify and draw the main lines of the drawing. This is where we get rid of the problem that seemed unsolvable at the first stage or solve it.

Verbalization

When the drawing is finished, you need to mentally return to the problem, talk about it again, and see what has changed. Think about the process and recall how you felt while doing the drawing. Did you feel relief and release at this stage and did the neurographic method help you feel better?

Unpleasant feelings, thoughts, and emotions can arise during the creation of a work. Since we are forcing our conscious and subconscious minds to unite and take new paths in search of solutions to a problem by drawing new neural connections, this causes resistance. Often, you may simply not like your work aesthetically, but over time, everything will normalize. If you continue to work calmly, you will begin to experience a state of calm and satisfaction. And you will gradually start to like the drawing more and more. But if a person does not fully understand the algorithm and does not understand the essence of the method, this can lead to an incorrect result.

Is it possible to draw neurographics on your own?

In general, you can draw it yourself. However, in this case, you are unlikely to get the desired result. And if you really want to work with neural connections, solve your problems, and come to new outcomes in life, you should take training or draw under the guidance of a qualified neurographic specialist. If you ask for help from an experienced instructor, you have a chance to make your work even more effective. Beginners are often in a hurry to draw all the problems in a row, not knowing how to build a sequence and system of work. It's hard for them to see what's missing in the drawing. But when a person is trained, they clearly understand the difference between just drawing and drawing with meaning.
