NIRAS VOLUME 5 [5.1] 80 Light Sources for Industrial Plants

(Robert C. Rosaler, 2004)

What about light color (in degrees Kelvin) and CRI? Does any job area require hand-eye coordination, reading,or differentiating between parts? If so,you probably need a white (4000K) light source and a high CRI (65 or higher). If an area is simply for storage, you may be able to get by with a low color temperature and lower CRI. Be careful though. Lower-CRI lamps, such as highpressure sodium, can contribute to mistakes made in part selection or shipping errors. Once you have determined your facility’s needs, you can choose a light source that will achieve the results you require.
