Country and people. Mutters is a place where everyone wants to be… Time and again our guests express their great desire to return to Mutters after their first visit. Mutters is surrounded by tranquil mountains, which makes it a perfect place to relax. Mutters has been twice honoured the Tyrol’s most beautiful village award. The tramway takes you everywhere: Innsbruck, Stubaital, Nordkette. Over the course of the year, the serene mountains surrounding Mutters transform from a world of phenomenal hiking into a marvellous skiing paradise. Lånd und Leut´. Nach Mutters zieht es einen… Nach Mutters, so sagen unsere Gäste immer wieder, zieht es einen. In diese Bergruhe, in der man richtig ausspannen kann. Als schönstes Dorf Tirols wurde Mutters gleich zweimal prämiert. Die Straßenbahn bringt Sie überall hin: nach Innsbruck, ins Stubaital, zur Nordkette. Die Berge von Mutters selbst wandeln sich im Jahreslauf von der Wander- zur Skiwelt. Und überall herrscht typische Tiroler Gemütlichkeit. Besonders hier bei uns im Seppl.

Das BumsaschieSSen

Bumsa-shooting

Die Bumsa, ein großer, 200 Jahre alter, aus Fassdauben hergestellter Holztrichter ist der Verstärker, durch den am 5. und 6. Dezember mit Vor derladergewehren und Schwarz pulverpatronen geschossen wird. Der Nikolausbrauch, beidem nur unverheiratete Burschen mitmachen dürfen, ist uralt, wird aber nur noch in Mutters praktiziert.

A “Bumsa” is a large 200 year old wooden funnel horn which is made from wine barrels. It serves as an amplifier through which you shoot large muzzleloading rifles and black powder cartridges every 5th and 6th of December. This is a very old tradition on St. Nickolas’ Day, which at resent time is only practiced in Mutters. Only unmarried chaps are allowed to participate in the shooting.

So guat: Der Tiroler Einschlag in der Seppl-Küche „Essen und vergessen, des muaß man können“, so sagt man jedenfalls bei uns in Tirol. Dass das mit meinen Gerichten gelingt, bestätigen unsere Gäste immer wieder. Mich freut das. Denn ich achte streng darauf, nur frische einheimische Zutaten von bester Güte zu verwenden. Das Fleisch etwa stammt aus dem eigenen Bauernhof. Ich koche am liebsten, was bei uns immer schon auf dem Speiseplan stand: Feinstes aus Tirol. Und all das Neue, das ich ausprobiere, hat ihn auch, den unverkennbaren SepplEinschlag.

Andreas Hofer

In Mutters hatte Andreas Hofer, der es 1809 mit seinen Tiroler Standschützen gegen den Franzosenkaiser Napoleon aufnahm, sein Hauptquartier. Der Freiheitskämpfer war gewiss kein Kostverächter, und die kernigen Mutterer Spezia litäten hatten es in sich: Hofer blieb der einzige, dem sich die Französischen Truppen gleich mehrmals geschlagen geben mussten.

Mutters was the headquarters of Andreas Hofer, who fought with his Tyrolese marksmen against the troops of the French emperor Napoleon. The freedom fighter was fond of good food and he esteemed the specialities of the local cuisine: Hofer was the only man who defeated the French troops on several occasions.

Delicious: The Tyrolean influence on the Seppl-cuisine “One has to be able to eat and to forget” – that’s a typical saying in Tyrol. Our guests confirm time and time again that this is possible with my delicious dishes. Of course, I am always delighted when hearing that. I take care that only fresh local ingredients of the finest quality are used in my meals. The meat originates from our own family farm and I prefer to cook meals which have always been on our menu: delicious Tyrolean food. Moreover, all of our new dishes have the distinctive Seppl taste.

Gemütliches Holz im ganzen Haus, ein uriger Speisesaal, die originale Bauernstube. Und überall das, was wir besonders mögen. Ein Hirschgeweih von der Jagd, Blumen aus dem Garten, bodenständiger Luxus im Tiroler Stil. Die Aussicht reicht vom Tiroler Unterland über die Nordkette, das Hafelekar, zur Serles und ins Stubaital. Unser Haus haben wir so eingerichtet, dass wir selber nirgendwo anders wohnen möchten. Wirklich gemütlich.

The little man from Venice

Jeden Lenz kam einst ein Venedigermandl nach Mutters. In den hiesigen Höfen wurde es sehr gut verpflegt und verbrachte dort gemütliche Bergsommer. Eines Tages versprach es den Bauern einen Schatz, der im Klobn-Schrofn, einem Felsspalt, versteckt war. Im nächsten Frühling aber wartete man vergebens auf das Mandl, und der Schatz liegt immer noch im Schrofn.

A little man from Venice came to visit Mutters every spring. He spent wonderful mountain summers vacationing in the local farmhouses of Mutters. To show his gratitude, he promised the local farmers a marvellous treasure, which he hid in the “Klobn-Schrofn” mountains above Mutters. He told the people of Mutters that he would reveal its hiding place the following spring when he returned. However, the next spring came and the local people waited for the arrival of the little man from Venice, but he never came, and the marvellous treasure remains hidden to this day.

Wellness in the Alps

The mineral springs at Ochsenberg

An indoor swimming pool with panorama view of the Alps, a sauna area including Finnish sauna, steam bath, Rasul bath and infrared cabin, health baths in wooden tubs and the tea bar: we use fresh spring-revitalised water. We also invest a lot of time to find out what is best for you during your stay at Hotel Seppl. -Bereich.

There an ancient natural spring with healing water at Ochsenberg. In 1900, the farmer Anton Pfurtscheller had built the Lourdes Chapel at the cemetery in thanks for the healing of his wife. Even now a small resting place with a view to Innsbruck is reminiscent of the wondrous healing. Protection and strength are two features which can still be felt at that place, where the cold (6 °C) and slightly bitter tasting spring water flows into a stone basin. The quality and the strength of this refreshing water are still evident even months after it has been filled into a glass bottle.

Die Heilquelle am Ochsenberg Am Ochsenberg gab es seit je her eine Quelle mit heilendem Wasser. Schon vor 1900 ließ der Bauer Anton Pfurtscheller zum Dank für die Heilung seiner Frau die Lourdeskapelle beim Friedhof errichten. Heute noch erinnert ein kleiner Rastplatz mit Blick hinunter auf Innsbruck an die wundersame Heilung, und immer noch spürt man das Schützende und Starke des Ortes, an dem die 6 °C kalte und leicht bitter schmeckende Quelle in ein Steinbecken mündet. Der Wert und die Stärke dieses Labsales zeigt sich auch noch nach Monaten in der Glasflasche.

A herrliche Rua: Mutterer Träume in Naturholz Im Seppl schläft man wie ein Murmeltier. Im wahrsten Sinne. Mitten in der gesunden Luft der Nordkette, mit Panorama-Balkonaussicht und in natürlichen Materialien. Unsere Doppelzimmer, Suiten und Appartements sind aus heimischen Hölzern, etwa aus herzberuhigender Bergzirbe. Mit allem Luxus – geräumig, mit Dusche, WC oder Bad, Bademänteln, Haarföhn, Toilettenartikeln, Kosmetikspiegel, Handtüchern, TV, Radio, Telefon und Weckeinrichtung. Schlafen ist im Seppl ein Traum. In der Mutterer Gegend erzählten Ammen und Mütter ihren müden Kindern immer schon vom Pechmandl, das in einer Büchse Baumpech von Zirmbäumen mit sich trägt. Damit schleicht das Pechmandl heimlich hinter die Kinder und streicht ihnen Pech über die Augen. Dann fallen ihnen sogleich die Augen zu und seliger Schlaf kommt.

In the region of Tyrol, nurses and mothers have always told their tired children about the little pitch man, who carries the pitch of Swiss stone pines in a tin. The little pitch man always sneaks behind children and unknowingly smears the black pitch on their eyes. They then fall to sleep immediately.

Zum Gernhobn: Unser Stadtl am Inn

Unsere Gäste schätzen die nahe Lage und gute Verbindung zu unserer Landeshauptstadt. Mit der Straßenbahn ist man in 20 Minuten mitten in Innsbruck. Die 120.000-Einwohner-Stadt bietet jede Menge Unterhaltung: Einkaufen in Altstadtläden und modernen Einkaufszentren, ein tolles Nachtleben, Museen und Sehenswürdigkeiten, unter anderem die Bergiselschanze und die Hungerburgbahn von Zaha Hadid, und jede Menge Kultur. Stadt und Berg sind nirgends so nah!

Our guests appreciate the proximity and public transport system to our regional capital of Innsbruck. You can reach the city centre of Innsbruck within 20 minutes by tram. The city has a population of 120.000 inhabitants and offers a great selection of entertainment opportunities; like shopping in old town shops and shopping centres, an exciting nightlife, museums and sights which include the Bergisel ski jump and the Hungerburg mountain railway by Zaha Hadit. City and mountains are as close as nowhere else!

“Tyrol is like a rough coat, but it warms very well”, said Emperor Maximilian around 1500 about his favourite region, Tyrol. He was well aware why he made Innsbruck the centre of his politics: silver and copper of the mines in Schwaz ensured him wealth, the coins of Hall ensured money, the region was his favourite hunting and fishing area and the Tyrolean people loved him.

Kaiser Maximilians Bauernkittel „Tirol ist ein grober Bauernkittel, aber er wärmet gut“, meinte Kaiser Maximilian um 1500 über sein Lieblingsland Tirol. Er wusste genau, warum er Innsbruck zum Mittelpunkt seiner Politik machte: Das Silber und Kupfer der Schwazer Bergwerke schenkten ihm Reichtum, die Haller Münzen brachten Geld, die Gegend boten dem Jäger Fischweiden und Jagdgründe und die Tiroler, die liebten ihn.

Skiing: Olympia Ski World Innsbruck

Zur Olympiade 1964 gab sich Innsbruck fortschrittlich: Zum ersten Mal wurde Kunsteis für eine Bobbahn verwendet, ge gen Fön und Wärme hatte man vorsorglich 20.000 Kubikmeter Schnee für die Pisten in der Axamer Lizum bereitgestellt. Bei der Zeitmessung wurden die Hundertstelsekunden einge führt. Übrigens wurde auch das Olympische Feuer zum ersten Mal in Olympia entzündet. Und: Bei den Zuschauerzahlen wurde die Eine-Million-Marke geknackt!

In order to be prepared for potential warm weather and wind, over 20,000 cubic meters of snow was provided for the slopes of Axamer Lizum.
