Process
For this project, I was asked to redesign Ma. Kurinbeege to curate a mixed - use building which caters to atleast 3 types of users and has public and private spaces.
Physical and digital site modeling proved that the dense urban fabric neededd room to breathe The desert needed an oasis.
So, how do I create an oasis in a hypothetical desert?
In architecture, too, an oasis can be reimagined: as a place of pause, peace, and sanctuary within an otherwise hectic environment
This project aims to embody that concept. After thorough site studies and interviews with community members, I carefully chose the types of spaces to curate. Each space is designed to offer a sense of respite for our community.
Close proximity to schools, shops
Narrow roads, high traffic, congestion, no trees
Improve drainage to prevent flooding Accident prone, threat of crime

An idea hub meant for networking and friendships is designed beside an arcade - both co-existing, yet separated by respective entrances. This allows for workshops or events held at the idea hub to happen regardless of the chaos present in the arcade and the laughter echoing from the board game area.

Co-work
In a city where energetic children want to play, and busy parents need to catch up with work, this kids’ club and co-work space synergy is the best of both worlds.
Kids’ club
Design features
In the co-work space, white clouds define the ceiling with minimal raindrop pendant lights, while the kids’ club plays with sunset hues and colorful droplets for a more whimsical take. A resin platform in the adult zone mimics a tranquil oasis, grounded by wooden plant murals that climb the walls above bench seating, offering a shaded, cocooned feel.
Revolving slats in the same frame as the swing doors allow easy transitions from the main workspace to the coffee lounge, meeting room and focus pods.
TYPE Dheena
On the kids’ side, everything is built for safe exploration - custom acrylic shapes form playful railings, a resin slide flows into an organic foam pit, and a climbing wall sets the backdrop. Columns transform into circular play tables, and swing pods add soft reading nooks. Frosted glass keeps things private without dimming the light.
Two different worlds - woven together under one shared sky.

An oasis reimagined
An oasis in the desert invites both a dip and a deep breath - and this 4-bedroom, 4-bath Airbnb mirrors that sentiment. You’re invited to sink into the sunken bath and the conversation pit, wrapped in calm and conversation.
Like an oasis offers breeze and green, this family-friendly retreat offers crossventilation throughout. Wooden revolving slats trace the exterior - folding open or shut on a whim, offering privacy from busy roads without sacrificing light or flow. The conversation pit features rotating windows and optional curtains, perfect for stargazing beneath constellation cut-outs carved into the false ceiling.
Stepped levels - up from the kitchen and down into the outdoor lounge - gently define space while preserving an open layout. Oak wood details, limewashed walls, a clay-plastered stepped floor, and warm wood-paneled ceilings all create a zen oasis for the length of your stay.

Fun fact: The finest oases carry seaglass... and even koi fish.
Perched on the highest level, this fine dining rooftop is a sensory oasis - Indoor seating peers through glass toward a fountain that spills into a pool, stepped into by organic stone forms. Outdoors, guests dine beside a wraparound koi pond woven into the terrace fence.
A cascade of sea-glass-like acrylic pieces, in soft turquoise, falls from the skylit ceiling down to the pond’s edge. Overhead, a second koi pond floats above over framed skylight panels aligned seamlessly with the beams and columns.
A fountain spills, water stirs above and sunlight dances through the seaglass facade in this oasis in motion.
TIMELESS
As the environment evolves, the essence of a place changes constantly. However it should never forget its origins
In an effort to ensure that our history is never forgotten, this co-working space features several pieces of our rich Maldivian history encapsulated in different areas.
As users circulate throughout the various spaces, the interior evolves from the use of more vernacular materials and forms to modern ones. As the name suggests, this co- work space remembers the collision of times.

HAVEN
Set against the edge of a busy public beach, Haven occupies a rare clearing - a pocket of quiet carved naturally by the island’s tree line. The site was deliberately chosen for its sense of enclosure; dense foliage shelters the house on all sides, creating a natural boundary between the private and the public.
