INDIVIDUAL, COMMUNITY AND IN-BETWEEN The Covid-19 pandemic changed our lives forever, people losing jobs, suffering from the virus and many other things but there were many positive situations too. The way spaces we were perceived changed in many different ways and the need of semi-open and open areas to increase interaction in the spaces increased prolifically.

Process

The major inhabitants in the Multi Dwelling Housing would be families, students and young professionals who are designers and artists, with opportunities to build a social student life where the students can interact and learn from the professionals in co-working spaces.The ground floor unit includes spaces for home businesses for artists, and designers to accommodate clients.

Using the concept of stack ventilation, the unit remains comfortable during the day, and the lighting in the living space and kitchen remains diffused due to the cantiliver of the double floored unit.

The concept is to increase the open spaces for the residents in the housing to enhance the overall comfort in the space and orienting the units in such a way that it improves the interaction between the residents and the access to the office spaces in the unit is given separately to provide privacy to the residents.

INDIGO MUSEUM Taking in consideration the context of the site while designing an instituational project could increase the importance of itself with the vicinity.

Therefore, the design aims to respect and increase the importance of the existing heritage site while making interesting spaces through intersection of planes in the plan and disproportioning the volumes created from it.

Process

Converting the fluid form of the river in the vicinity into a solid geometric form and intersecting it with a basic rectangular form creating eccentric form through multiple iterations. The final form takes in account the river and the heritage building and thus increasing the significance in the context.

REVITALIZING THE DIGNITY OF LABOUR With the daily exploitation of laborers on daily basis, the proposal encourages a sense of ownership amongst laborers through the change of space dynamics.

Building their own settlements unites laborers and brings secured association with their epicenter – The banyan tree – where the community thrives. The panels offered to the laborers give them an opportunity to adopt the module in their own way bringing their own individuality and yet bringing togetherness along.

Material exploration of timbercrete ripples itself beyond tangibles – influencing the environment through innovations that empowers labourers by acting as an economy generation toolkit.

The proposal benefits through community cohesion and stands as an example of how people unite …maybe with just a conversation.
