Dholera Airport to Replace that of Ahmedabad

The NDA government has given site clearance for the Greenfield international airport in Dholera to ease pressure on Ahmedabad airport and serve Dholera SIR. The airport is being built at a distance of 80 kilometers from Ahmedabad and 20 kilometers from Dholera.

holera SIR gains further importance as the NDA government has given site clearance for the Greenfield international airport in Dholera. This comes as good news and adds a positive note to the first smart city of India.

The neighboring city of Ahmedabad has an airport but owing to the rapid urbanization shall get saturated and needs an alternate to be developed soon.

As per reports, the Ahmedabad airport is expected to get saturated by the year 2020.

A 1700 hectare area of land has already been reserved by the Gujarat Government for development of this international airport, which will aid Dholera SIR.

This land falls between Pachham-Valinda-Pipli villages of Dhandhuka taluka of Ahmedabad district and has been given sanction by the authorities.

Shri G.M. Siddeshwara, the Minister of State for Civil Aviation confirmed recently to Lok Sabha that Modi’s government has given an approval to the site where the Greenfield international airport of Dholera Special investment Region shall be developed. As per a press release from the Press Information Bureau, the new airport shall be developed by the Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board.

The airport is being built at a distance of 80 kilometers from Ahmedabad and 20 kilometers from Dholera SIR. The focus remains to cover most of the important cities of Gujarat and the site has been chosen keeping the same in mind. People from the cities of Nadiad, Anand and

Bhavnagar shall have easy access to the airport owing to the vicinity from such cities.

The international airport of Dholera has been estimated to be a 1000 crore project and was the brain child of Mr. Modi from the days when he was the chief Minister of Gujarat. It is expected to replace Dubai as the global hub since the flight connecting Heathrow and Singapore via Dholera will involve lesser kilometers than the one via Dubai . The passengers shall travel 322 kilometers less via Dholera thus saving a lot of time making it a preferred route then Dubai.

The vast area over which it shall be built can allow it to have two runways with length of 2900

meters and 4000 meters thus giving it a potential to compete with most of the existing international airport set up.

Besides this airport, the government has also identified fifty other probable locations in multiple states where the small sized airports can be developed.

The cities identified in the vibrant state of Gujarat are Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Kandla and Keshod. Besides Gujarat, few locations in the territory of Daman and Diu have also been identified by the Modi government.

This development is sure to give a further impetus to the Dholera Special investment Region and attract more and more investors to invest into Modi’s dream.
