David’s House Ministries began as a house for 10 men with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Having been blessed by incredible prayer and financial support from many, David’s House has seen remarkable growth. Currently, there are 43 men and women who call David’s House their home. Another 9 women live in homes in Grand Rapids and David’s House provides the supported services needed for their daily living. Due to the faithful support of many, families know that their loved ones will be cared for and loved during their time at David’s House.

Your gift empowers David’s House to provide the facilities and care that we strive to provide. This will make a difference, not just today, but for the long term care and support of residents. The following pages showcase a few of the things that your support can help cover.

LEAP? LEAP stands for Life Enriching Activities and Programs. At David’s House, we want to provide meaningful activities and opportunities for our residents to engage with each other and with the community.

On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays we get together to learn new things and work on our health and wellbeing. These activities include exercising, working on cooking skills, learning Spanish, and giving back to the community by making cut and tie blankets, decorating bags for Kids’ Food Basket, stamping coffee sleeves for Roots Brew Shop, and volunteering at Beer City Dog Biscuits.

Our vision for LEAP is to expand our community outreach, increase the number of volunteers coming to David’s House, expand our programming, and be able to cook lunch together each day in our community room. We believe the residents who live at David’s House have gifts that should be shared with the community and that life-long learning improves quality of life.

We also think it’s important to have fun!!

House Parties We love to party - Christmas, birthdays, etc...! Residents enjoy opportunities to celebrate with housemates.

Events DHM Outing Every year we hope to attend a Whitecaps game that all residents, staff, and family members are invited to join. This is a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy eachothers company while watching the game.

DHM Summer Camps Every summer we have 3-4 church youth groups out to David’s House for a full day of activities with residents and working on service projects for the campus. We enjoy planning a summer camp experience for residents while the youth are here such as yard games, sprinkler water activities, lunch together and more!

COVERS THE COST FOR 1 SUMMER CAMP

Friendship Club Twice a month gathering with the entire community to worship with our friends. Each time there is a brief lesson and a chance to talk about all the wonderful ways God is working in our lives. Residents lead the praise and worship time.

Arts In Motion Arts in Motion comes to David’s House during the snowy months. They hold improv classes, help residents write songs, create art, and play musical instruments.

Activities Summer Concert Series Each summer, local artists come out to David’s House and put on a concert. All are welcome to attend! Residents enjoy listening to the artists perform and often sing and clap along under the overhang at House 3.

House Activities Each house has its own outings that residents are welcome to go on if they would like. Past outings have included ArtPrize, Robinette’s, the movies, bowling, going out to lunch, and the beach! This also includes arts and crafts supplies for residents to enjoy.

Gloves and Cleaning Wipes Gloves and cleaning wipes are crucial items that are used multiple times a day to protect both residents and staff. It is common to use 2 or more pairs of gloves when assisting a single resident with routine personal duties.

ESSENTIALS Provide Safe Transportation to Appointments for Residents All residents have routine visits to the dentist, doctor, and medical specialists.

Laundry 43 people have a lot of laundry.

Everyday we wash dish towels, bedding, and personal towels.

Add in clothing for 43 people and we go through a lot of detergent.
