IS claims it killed Kushtia homoeopath n Tribune Desk International terrorist group Islamic State has claimed that its members killed homoeopathic doctor Sanwar Hossain “for calling to Christianity.” “Fighters from the Islamic State assassinated a doctor who called to Christianity in Kushtia, western Bangladesh,” IS-affiliated Amaq news agency said in a brief Arabic message yesterday, AFP reports quoting US-based jihadi activities monitoring website SITE Intelligence Group. On Friday morning, Sanwar along with his friend Saifuzzaman, a teacher of Bangla department at Kushtia Islami University, were going to his bungalow outside the town on a motorcycle where he used to run a free Friday clinic. 22 killed as Roanu strikes n Tribune Desk Cyclonic storm Roanu left a total of 22 people dead, hundreds injured and damaged many dwellings as it struck coastal areas yesterday. Of the 22, 11 were killed in Chittagong, three in Bhola, three in Noakhali, three in Cox’s Bazar, one in Patuakhali, and one in Lakshmipur. Md Shamshuzzaman, upazila nirbahi officer of Banshkhali in Chittagong, told the Dhaka Tribune seven people were killed in Chhanua and Khankhanabad unions. “They died of wall and tree collapse, and drowning.” One of the seven victims was identified as Tahera Begum, 35, of Chhanua union.
