BB heist: Interpol team begins probe in Dhaka Rahman Rabbi and n Arifur Jebun Nesa Alo A team from Interpol has joined investigators in Dhaka to probe into the digital heist of Bangladesh Bank's funds at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The six-member team, led by Brad Marden – Interpol's coordinator of digital crime investigative support, arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday and started working with the Criminal Investigation Department yesterday, said CID Additional DIG Shah Alam. The Interpol team is providing the CID with technical support such as analysing materials including computers and documents that had been seized from the central bank premises, he added. The Interpol team, which consists of different nationals including officials from Interpol's Singapore office, would stay in Bangladesh and work with the CID until Friday, the CID additional deputy inspector general said.

Trump now presumptive GOP nominee n Reuters, Indianapolis Billionaire reality TV star Donald Trump completed his transformation from long-shot White House candidate to presumptive Republican presidential nominee after his commanding win in Indiana's primary forced his main rival Ted Cruz to drop out of the race. US media reports also suggested that Trump's last remaining challenger, Ohio Governor John Kasich, was also suspending his campaign after his dismal third place finish in the Midwestern state. There was no immediate word on this from Kasich's campaign, but he canceled a news conference in the Washington area and planned to make a statement later in the day in Columbus, Ohio. Inu: Media monitoring cell in the offing n Mohammad Al-Masum Molla The government has taken an initiative to set up a media monitoring cell to supervise news contents published by print and online newspapers, and blogs, Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu told parliament yesterday. “An initiative has been taken to establish a media monitoring cell to oversee the news reports published in the media,” he said while replying to a scripted question from ruling Awami League MP Pinu Khan during the question-answer session. Inu alleged that a section of news media and blogs were trying to create theist-atheist division in the society by writing against the sentiments of Hindus, Muslims and other religious beliefs. Claiming that the print and electronic media were enjoying full freedom, the minister said: “Taking advantage of the freedom, a section of media or online newspapers, social networking sites and blogs are instigating communalism.
