On May 29, students of the after school drama club and the music and dance club of Scholastica, Uttara enacted the story of “The Elves and the Shoemaker”in the school premises.

Television actor Mir Sabbir attended the show as the special guest.

Sirens

The sea was dark and foggy. The sailors were lost in the night, and did not know what was going to come next.

Then, suddenly, a beautiful voice sang to them. It was so warm and sweet, that the sailors lost their minds. They moved their ship towards the voice, but they couldn’t see anything because of the mist. They wanted to hear more, so they moved faster and closer.

Suddenly, they crashed into a huge rock! The ship started to sink when the

singing monsters came out, watching with an evil smile. The Sirens have won again.

Actually no, he was a brilliant man His name is Dr Suess, and he’s American He loved to write for kids and even drew If it wasn’t perfect, out of the window his drawings flew

Less is smart and the only option to protect yourself from the horrible heat of summer.

What you’ll need • A Pringles container or any other container that is as long • Cardboard • Art scissors • Paint Cut out half a circle from the cardboard and make a cone. Glue it to one of the ends of the container and paint that container with dark acrylic colours. For extra effect, cut out pieces of paper shaped like fire and stick them to the end of the rocket ship. Which came first: chicken or egg? Chicken – it has to come first to lay eggs to make more chickens.

A fresh egg will sink in water, a stale one will float.

Spin an egg. If it wobbles, it’s raw. If it spins easily, it’s hard boiled.

White hens lay white eggs, red hens lay brown eggs.

Brown eggs are bigger than white eggs but have equal nutrition.

There are 200 breeds of chickens.

Europe has farmed hens since 600 BC. An average hen starts laying eggs at 19 weeks of age and lays 300-325 eggs a year.

Hens need roughly 1/3 of a pound of feed, 10 ounces of water, 14 – 16 hours of light, and 24 hours to produce just one egg. 30 minutes later, she starts all over again.

What happens to a balloon when the air inside it heats up?

What you’ll need: • An empty bottle • Balloon • Pot of hot water (not boiling)

Instructions: 1. Put the balloon over the mouth of the empty bottle.

2. Put the bottle in the pot of hot water, let it stand for a few minutes and watch what happens.

What’s happening?

As the air inside the balloon warms up, the balloon starts to grow.

There is still the same amount of air inside the balloon and the bottle. The reason this happens is because, warm air takes up more space than the same amount of cold air; it is also lighter than cold air, when inside the bottle.

After a long nap, John woke up.

Surprisingly, he saw no one beside him, he was sure his mother was there when he'd slept. Looking carefully, John saw his mother crying in the corner. He was shocked and suddenly he sees himself lying in a hospital bed. “Wait, what? How is this possible?” he thought.

The Vanishing Pen What you’ll need: • A full sleeved loose jacket or shirt • An elastic string (a bit shorter than the length of your forearm) • A pen How to do it: • Tie one end of the elastic string to the end of your pen tightly.

• Tie the other end of your elastic tightly around your forearm.

• Now wear your jacket.

• Pull the pen out from inside your jacket sleeve and hold the pen while covering the elastic.

• Pretend to wave your hand while performing and let go as you open up your hands. The elastic being stretched out, will pull the pen back into your sleeve, making it invisible.
