Grindylows

In the county of Yorkshire, Britain, they say deadly monsters live in the deep lakes and ponds. They are ugly, greenish demons who like to drown anyone, and pull down whoever cannot swim. They have long fingers, sharp horns, and big scary yellow eyes. British folk called them

Grindylows, and more than anything, they love taking children down into the deep, cold water forever.

Scared? Don’t worry, because they are just stories to scare you. The lesson to remember is not to go too close to big waters. If not Grindylows, there are other creatures which can harm you; real ones. Rad Sharar

Dancing in the Rain!

This little kid was caught dancing in the rain. Look at the way he enjoys the rain! He smiles as if he is the happiest boy on earth with no problems at all. He dances in the rain without a care about the rest of the world.

Sometimes life might present you with problems but all you have to do is be grateful for what you have and go through the problems with a smile. A wise person once said, “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning how to dance in the rain.”

is also an awesome cartoonist. His name is Jim Davis.

Jim is famous for drawing kitties. When he was young, Jim and his brother had 25 cats! He loved them. Funny thing is, his wife is allergic to cats. But that didn’t stop him from keeping one in his home anyway! Rad Sharar

What Does the Firefly Have?

Once there lived in a forest, a little firefly and it would look around and think, “What do I have?”

It looked around and saw how the grasshopper hid behind the grass, and the butterflies had colourful wings.

What you’ll need • Paint and brushes • Tape • Ruler • Pencil • Craft knife • Bottle caps • Cardboard Instruction Paint the cardboard boxes and put them

on top of each other. Use tape to hold them together.On each box, measure and cut out a door. The cut should be one inch away from the sides; do this on three sides, the remaining side will become your hinge for the door. If the door seems weak to the touch, tape a smaller piece of cardboard on the inside to make it stronger. On each door, punch a hole and place bottle caps or anything that can be used as a handle. Make small holes in the bottle caps and put strings through them, tie a knot to hold the caps in place.

Remember this little kitty from last week?

Well, a few days back, Pusheen found an injured baby bird lying in my veranda and started playing with it, which eventually injured the bird even more. So, to the save the little bird, we locked Pusheen up and made her a home. When we unlocked

Armadillos are mammals that look like small rats with pointy noses, long sharp claws and bodies covered with bony plates like shells.

The word Armadillo comes from the Spanish, meaning “the little armored one.”

Armadillos can be pinkish, dark-brown, black, red, gray or yellowish in colour.

They have poor eyesight but are excellent diggers, climbers and swimmers.

They can hold their breath for six minutes under water.

They sleep 16-18 hours per day in their burrows.

•

Armadillos dig around in the ground for insects, baby birds, eggs, roots, fruit and fire ants helping out humans.

Four identical armadillos are born from one egg. They are called quadruplets.

•

Armadillos live 4-7 years in the wild and 12-15 years in captivity.

Pusheen from the washroom, she literally ran towards the veranda and searched for the bird. Upset over the fact that she had lost her “living” toy, she walked away calling to us in a low, broken voice. As for the bird, we took care of it for four days and made sure it was out of Pusheen’s reach!

The Rubber Pencil Quick Sand What you’ll need • One cup of maize cornflour • Half a cup of water • A large plastic container • A spoon

What happens First, mix the cornflour and the water properly in the container.

When you stir it slowly, the solution is drippy like liquid. If you stir it quickly the mixture gets harder.

You can actually poke it. If you add the right amount of water to the cornflour it becomes thick as you stir quickly. This happens because the cornflour grains are mixed up and can’t slide over each other due to the lack of water between them.

Stirring slowly allows more water between the grains, letting them slide over each other easily.

The “rubber pencil” is a super easy magic trick that’s really an optical illusion What you’ll need • A pencil with a rubber end • Lots of practice

Instructions You can fool all your friends and impress them by using a normal

pencil and making it look like it is made of rubber that wiggles and jiggles. All you do is hold the end (the rubber end) of the pencil with your index finger and thumb loosely. Hold it sideways, facing your audience and wave it fast, moving your hand up and down vertically and the pencil will start bouncing, and it will seem like it is bending. Faizah Aziz
