Adam Strange Born October 30, 1989 (age 23) Place of birth Moscow, Russia Height 1.60 m Weight 52 kg Occupation Gymnast Education Southern Methodist University, Spring Creek Academy Parents Anna Kotchneva, Valeri Liukin Zodiac Sign: Scorpio Anastasia Valeryevna “Nastia” Liukin is a retired American artistic gymnast.

She is the 2008 Olympic individual all-around Champion, the 2005 and 2007 World Champion on the balance beam, and the 2005 World Champion on the uneven bars. She won a total of 5 Medals at the 2008 Olympics, tying the record for most won by an American gymnast. Four years after she won the all-around individual gold medal, whereas Gabby Douglas won it for the USA at the 2012 summer Olympics. After the Soviet Union dissolved, she moved to the US at the young age of two. Both of her parents were champion gymnasts for the Soviet Union, and they were huge supporters of her throughout her competitive life.

IN THE WORLD OF CHEMISTRY A friendly personality and a passionate lover of Science, this week we shine our light on Ripak Kundu. He started as a teacher of Chemistry for classes 8 to 12 in European Standard School (ESS) and is currently continuing his job there.

When asked about why he decided to take up the profession of teaching, Kundu says “It was all for my students and I wanted to teach them what I have learnt. Learning has no limits, so as I learn every day, I want to pass on my knowledge on to my beloved students.”

A keen lover of sports, when free, Kundu plays badminton, listens to music and also goes fishing on vacations. Eager to create an institution of chemistry in the future Kundu says “Chemistry is a subject that fascinated me throughout my life. Thus I want to open an institute in the future where students will be taught chemistry individually and with proper attention. It will be an institute with mixture of both theory and practical education and that too with the most equipments available.” sama e deen

American Paddlefish Polyodon Spathula

The name Polyodon is derived from a Greek word, meaning “many teeth” The American Paddlefish produces up to 600,000 eggs in fast-flowing waters every two to five years.

The Paddlefish is capable of surviving for about 20 years.

The fish cannot be caught using bait as they feed off plankton so other methods of fishing like snagging is used.

The appearance of the paddlefish resembles that of a shark, particularly their tail fins.

Paddlefish eat microscopic plants and animals (plankton).

PET TIPS

Keep em off!

Cats have a habit of scratching furniture.

We all know that scratching is a form of exercise for cats, unfortunately that excuses won’t work with our parents. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Read on more to find out how you can keep Fuzzy a way from the furniture.

Shoo!

Whenever you see your cat scratching on carpets or furnitures, yell at them.

You could say NO or shoo to scare them.

That way Fuzzy will understand that their actions have upset you. Be a little patient while you are at it. It will take time for your pet to get disciplined.

Toys

Provide more toys for your cat so that it keeps them away from the furniture.

Give them something which has a rough surface like a ball or an old rug. You could also crumple a piece of paper, make a hole on any one of the edges and attach a long string to it. Dangle it in front of

your cat, and he/she will be jumping with joy.

Patience

As mentioned before, this will take some time for both you and your cat to master.

If all else fails, gently sprinkle water at your cat when they scratch furnitures.

Whatever you do, DO NOT pour water on them, it’ll just make them mad and they won’t listen to you at all. Also, they might end up scratching you.
