But wouldn’t you much rather change your means of watching them? It’s time you decked up your room with the kind of gadgets that make weekend movie marathons even more exciting! Yes, we are talking about home theatres, and no, it won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Here’s what you gotta do Patience

Keep in mind that you can’t do it all at once. Narrow down your requirements for building your home theatre. Since you are building one from scratch, focus on what you have, and what you’ll need.

Improvise

If you’ve already got a decent plasma screen TV and a DVD player, then it’s not much work for you. All you have to do is buy a mean set of speakers that’ll knock your ears out! And by speakers, we are talking about the ones that’ll ensure digital surround sound. Difficult, you think? Well, not at all! You can find a range of audio equipments that fits your criteria from online e-stores like Bikroy. com, Cell bazaar and Clickbd. Also check out shopping malls like Prince Plaza and Eastern Plaza. Preferable brands that would serve your purpose would be a Creative 4.1 which is available at a price of Tk3500-4000, and if you want to turn up the volume a little more than that, go for a Microlab 5.1, which is around Tk5000-6500.

Ambience

Last but not the least would be lighting.

What good is a home theatre if it doesn’t give out a soothing feel to those huddled up to watch the latest films? Go a little dim with red or purple lamps from Jatra.

Or go completely dark, to give it a cinema hall look.

Warranty

Unlike regular electronics distributors, you won’t be getting any warranty when you are buying stuff off the net. It might need repairing after a certain period of usage, so when the time comes, you’ll have to be prepared to throw in a little cash there. rubab nayeem khan

How about getting them printed out in the form of little movie tickets that they can bring to the party as an entry essential? Your friends will surely love to save the tickets as souvenirs of the party and this makes the tedious, sometimes tricky, task of who to invite, much more fun!

On the menu tonight

Keep it simple theatre food- stick to pop chicken, popcorn (you may want a variety here of spiced, buttered, etc.) and hot dogs. Messy food will distract your guests from the movie and ruin the ambience. Foods that are easy to plate and eat are what will keep the Hollywood fun going uninterrupted. You’d do well to serve the chicken and hot dogs for the interval and keep the popcorn, pop chicken and drinks going around from the beginning.

Effortlessly, Red Carpet With increasing focus towards diverse cultures and traditions, more and more girls are seen wearing full length, classy gowns to parties and other events. However, a new thing is sure to create some confusion among those who are more of fashion followers and less of leaders. Here’s a word out to all those fashion fledglings- you can be easy on the wallet as well as on the eyes. Here’s how

First things first

Decide what you want to wear. A full length red carpet look can have many different variations. You can do halter necks, full sleeves and a back that dips down to the waist, off the shoulder, strapless tube or a simple sleeveless dress with a high neck. Get your design right in your mind before continuing.

Next on

Decide on the material. You will want flowy material that falls gracefully.

Opting for satin is a no no. For weather like ours, the sweat stains can cause

you the embarrassment of a lifetime! Go for shimmery sequined chiffon that is available at Gawsia or Chandni Chowk.

You will need a lining for underneath so choose a soft material for that. Get a good amount of extra material if your dress involves a train.

Finally

Go to your tailor. Show him a clear picture of what you want and have him sketch it out for you for good measure.

If this is the first time you’re having a dress made, seek out tailors who have done this before. If this is a first for your

tailor, have him make a few practice dresses for you in cotton or jersey that you can wear around the house.

Flawless face

Every diva has beautiful skin! And every type of skin, however problematic, can look beautiful. All it takes, is some good exfoliating and cleansing. Once you pat your face dry, put on some tinted moisturiser (preferably with sun protection) to create a base that is flawlessly fresh. If this is a serious party look you’re trying to pull off, you could go for some light weight foundation but it’s best not to make that makeup article a staple.

Fearless flutters

All your eyes need are some liner and mascara. Do not line the lower lids of your eyes with kohl pencil. Instead, if you can get your hands on some white liner pencil, try lining your lower lids with it, to give a naked look to your eyes. Be careful to apply more on the outer corners of the eyes and smudge out the middle. Next, take your liner (felt or liquid), and with a

Make sure to have the Cupid’s bow well defined and avoid smudges- it’s best to tread carefully with bright colours such as this, so that you don’t end up highlighting your mistakes. Lastly, with felt eyeliner, lightly mark a beauty spot on the left corner of your upper lip.

Light finger waves, one towards the top and a few lower down, will create the amazing Veronica Lake effect you covet.

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage that Timothy Dalton drove in The Living Daylights was an absolute beauty.

The smooth, shiny gun metal finish, the elegant curves, and the gadgets packed in by Q, make this car a modern classic. The optional extras, as Q stated, included spiked tyres for added traction, retractable skis, steel cutting lasers and land to land missiles. The gadget dashboard even included gadgets that weren’t used.

This is one of the classic Bond cars, with an interesting set of gadgets that fit well into the action.

Toyota 2000 GT (You Only Live Twice, 1967)

The Toyota 2000 GT has been called the first Japanese supercar, and has been praised as being extremely enjoyable to drive. It was perfect for 1967’s You Only Live Twice, which was set in Japan, and driven by Bond girl Aki. Just over 300 were made and they weren’t convertibles. The soft-top version shown in the movie was one of two produced specifically for the film. The special editions were made because Sean Connery was too tall to fit in the original.

Casino Royale was a reboot of the Bond series, going back to its roots.

The story was one of the major refractors, but the film also came with a fresh James Bond, director Martin Campbell and removal of ridiculous elements from the prior films.

Another welcome change was the Aston Martin, the DBS V12, which returned for Quantum Of Solace and Skyfall. The car didn’t have the usual set of gadgets, having only a modest few secret compartments for Bond’s gun and a defibrillator. A big change over previous Aston Martins is that it’s not only beautiful on the outside; it also has a great interior.

Learn to curb your attitude this week. If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

Lotus Esprit

(The Spy Who Love Me, 1977)

Bond (Roger Moore) escapes his pursuers by driving the Lotus off a pier into the Mediterranean Sea, where it transforms into a fully functioning submarine. Now that’s a car. Armed with surface-to-air missiles, depth charges, underwater sight screens and torpedoes, Moore was able to dispatch a team of underwater attackers and a helicopter before surfacing at a nearby beach. So popular was the Lotus Esprit that it was brought back for the next film, For Your Eyes Only, only to be blown up early in the film.

There are numerous ways one can start off on an acting career in Bangladesh, but the best possible way to seal the deal is to get experience or training in acting especially in stage plays. That is likely to make you stand out from the rest, in terms of acting. No amount of representation or marketing help will make you a star unless you have the talent.

The earliest possible training that you can receive is from your school, considering it has a drama faculty or club, which most schools cater to nowadays.

The younger you start honing your talent, the better you learn as it is easier for the brain to adapt to new techniques.

Focusing on your improvisation ability, speech, voice and body language, the training you get is a lasting one. Even if you don’t wish to make this your career, all this will help you in the future in your social life, workplace and other aspects in your life.

Among other schools, Scholastica is well known for the extravagant stage plays that are held almost every year. They are not only humorous and entertaining, but educational too.

Garnering rave reviews in the media, Scholastica has held productions in both

English and Bangla. From Shakespeare, Dickens to Tagore and Satyajit Ray, the students acting in the plays learn more about literature while learning to act on stage. Other schools like Sunbeams and ISD, to name a few notable, are also known for their stage plays, albeit to a lesser extent.

For people who are no longer in schools don’t fret. There are acting schools that can get you professional help. There are many theatre groups in the stage play scene in Bangladesh which have acting schools. Prachyanat is one of the most famous theatre groups and it also has a school of acting and design. Kazi Toufikul Islam Emon, a prominent actor and director working with Prachyanat says that they host a course of six months that consists of theory, practical application, a street play and a full-fledged stage show. They work on one’s observation, voice modulation, body language and teach improvisation techniques among others.

Such learning experiences will definitely prep up the aspiring actor in you, not only for stage plays but also acting in front of the camera. So pick up your acting swag and make way for a starry career! Baizid Haque Joarder

for Stardom The language of film With schools implementing annual dramas as a part of extracurricular activities, we shift our focus to a different, but closely related art form: film studies.

Universities in Dhaka, or Bangladesh, don't really have any programme that goes by that name. However, some are trying to broaden their range of courses and curricula in order to encourage those who are passionate about this field.

Dr Zakir Hossain Raju, Professor of Cinema Studies in the Department of Media and Communication in Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) tells TMAG about the future prospects for those concentrating in this field. In the context of IUB, he says that a student must have an idea about society, arts and culture before getting comfortable with this stream of media.

"The studies revolve around practical experiences." The "practice model" as he calls it, comprises of learning to make TV programmes, documentaries, short films and analysis of social sciences and culture studies.

The skill behind the screen

There are only two courses that specialise in theory; namely Language of Film and Cinema, Culture and Identity; the rest are based on field work. Scriptwriting is basically a writing exercise which facilitates students to write their own screenplays. Students majoring in this stream would have to write 5-6 screenplays which according to him, enhances their skills in creating stories.

They are also directing and producing an average of 5 documentaries and 3 drama productions per year. The courses are actually training these students to pursue a career in film by sending them off with equipments. Video editing is also a part of this training, and Dr Hossain feels that these courses are serving their purpose. “The study isn't just inside the campus or in the books, it's beyond that.

Students must be able to incorporate not just theories from text, but what they have learnt about the cultures that are related to the making of films.”

A film usually never spans more than three hours. But capturing these hours, giving the script life and presenting it to the audience, is one tough job. If you aspire to be a film maker someday, you need to know the whole process very well, from pre-production to postproduction, which includes casting, building up a skilled team for each sector and most importantly, editing.

Ten years back it was hard, if not impossible to find a film school in Bangladesh. However, the scenario is changing, now there are a number of universities teaching this particular field of study. At present, among all the existing universities, some are directly teaching subjects like film studies and some merging film with journalism and communication subjects. American International University Bangladesh offers a degree on Bachelors of Arts in Mass Communication and Media Arts, on the other hand Stamford University and Green University have a distinct department for film studies.

The Department of Media Studies and Journalism at the University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh concentrates on Digital Film and TV Production.

situation of film and film schools in the country “The Millennial Bangladesh’s cine-scene should not confine itself only within economic planning and “Digital Bangladesh” ambitions. It is high time to honour media education as a vision! A vision of technology with respect, pixels with people-power, shots and sequences with souls. I believe that the “mediaworld” in our country has been deeply neglected since our Independence in 1971. In fact, photography, cinema and television can bloom only with fullthrottle support and concern of the state and the elected governments. Private universities' media departments or Drik’s Pathshala are merely the instruments of mediocre pixel-business.”

He continues, “With 30+ TV channels and ever-growing foreign media competitions in cinema and journalism, it is time we approach with a different vision towards the film culture.

Bangladesh must have an independent Photography, Film and Television Institute on the university level. The Film and Television Institute India in Pune, India had implemented those things.

Our country is looking forward to such technological advances in schools that facilitate film studies as a part of their curriculum.” Saudia Afrin

Green on the silver screen While studying at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, in Malaysia, Ehsan Kabir directed a documentary named “Pursuit”, a film which explores the lives of Bangladeshi immigrants and their struggle to live a decent life in Malaysia. The film was nominated for the Astro-Next Generation Awards in the Kuala Lumpur International Film Festival as well as the Dhaka International Film Festival. He flew back to Dhaka, and founded Green Ink. Ehsan, director and CEO of the studio, began his journey of filming here, with budding talents like himself and otherssuch as Rashidul Karim, Rashidul Hassan, Christoph Neusiedl and Dewan Mohammad Ashraful Alam. RUBAB NAYEEM KHAN has a light hearted conversation with the creative minds behind the camera to find out more about their genre

What is Green Ink? Green Ink is a new media studio that focuses on directing documentaries that capture the reality of life. Aside from documentaries, we also direct music videos, films and hopefully next year we’ll be producing dramas. With the use of creative media, we want to send positive messages to the society. Green represents the environmental and ink is something that is used to reach a mass audience.

Have you faced obstacles in your line of work?

Of course! Obstacles are inevitable, no matter what field you work in. There are many hiccups while shooting films in Bangladesh, because here, we have to work with various kinds of people and we have to direct them to help us direct the shoot. Sometimes we lose track of the members in our crew! When you are shooting abroad, all you need is a camera and a keen insight on what you want to deliver to the audience.

Is there a particular area of difficulty?

Shooting for music videos are difficult, because it takes us out of our comfort zone. Most of our work is documentary

based, and that’s something that our production remains constant about. Plus, we really enjoy making documentaries, compared to music videos because it captures things that are real, prevalent and inescapable.

What do you think about the current film industry?

The film industry in Bangladesh has gone through major improvements. Films like Chorabali, Udhao, and even the films of Ananta Jalil show that the industry has undergone a drastic change. The directors are stepping up to make a difference.

What other ventures are you affiliated with?

We are already media partners with Bangladesh German Chamber of Commerce Industry (BGCCI) and British Council. In fact we filmed the video for British Council’s Social Enterprise Challenge. We are also involved with the new cooking show sponsored by Walton, named “Golden Recipe” launched

by ATN Bangla. The shows have two seasons so far, and currently the second seasons are being aired.

Message for the readers The world is like a canvas, art has no limits, and hence an artist has no boundaries.

If you want to be in this kind of field you’ve got to believe in yourself. If you are passionate about filming all you have to do is go out there and find out what you want to capture.

Achievements The documentary “Pursuit” was filmed in 2010. It depicts the struggle Bangladeshi immigrant's face in Malaysia in order to live a better life.

It shows how a Bangladeshi was promised to have a better life, but instead he had to skip from one job to another and shack up with a number of people to save money, so that at the end of the day he has enough to send it back home to his parents. Amid all his difficulties, he still talks about the things he learns every day.

“The Last of Bengals” was a documentary done on the Sundarbans.

It has been selected in a prestigious German film festival NaturVision in July and has been screened at the festival in Ludwigsberg. It is the first ever Bangladeshi film to be featured

in Germany's oldest international environmental film festival. The documentary explores the threats the Sundarbans are up against with the rapid extinction of Bengal Tigers, it also sheds light on the struggle for survival between people and tigers. It also aims to raise awareness for the Sundarbans ecosystem, Bangladesh's only UNESCO World Heritage and the last refuge for the Royal Bengal Tigers.

“Folkumentary” for “Folk Nations 2013”" a music workshop organised

by British Council which featured 7 musicians from the UK and 8 from Bangladesh. The project connected musicians from both worlds so that they can learn from each other’s cultures, heritage and create new forms of music. The project comprised of artists like Arnob, Labik Kamal, Sam lee, Nobonita, Jonah, Francesca, Rob Fokir, Camillo Tirado, Arko, Jibon, Bart, Saadul, Shofik Miah and Jalal.

So Far Away “Hello, Papa!!” squealed five-year old Maisha as she saw her dad’s face on the laptop screen. She couldn’t even properly sleep last night when her mom told her that they will talk to her father on Skype the next day. “After so many days I can talk to Papa” said the girl happily before going to bed. And here she is now; talking to the man she has missed for so long.

The first few seconds passed in silence. Rashed gazed at his adorable little daughter, smiling with her pearly little teeth, looking straight at him with her bright twinkling eyes. “Hi sweetie pie. How are you?” Rashed finally asked, trying his best to conceal his sadness.

“I’m fine. Oh, Papa, do you know Uncle Rishad went to buy a cow for us today?

It’ll be so much fun when it gets here.

I’ll bathe it, feed it; I’ll even send you

a picture of it, ok?” “Ok, ok”, replied Rashed, slightly laughing looking at little Maisha’s excitement.

“Hey, Papa when will you come back?” she innocently asked.

Rashed had no other choice except to tell her the lie that he has been telling for so long. “I’ll come back next Eid”.

Suddenly Maisha started screaming, “Yay! The cow’s here. I gotta go.” She leaned towards the screen, kissed right on her father’s face and ran away saying “I love you, Papa” “I love you too sweet heart”, whispered Rashed, staring at the black computer screen.

A Modern Re-Telling of Pre-Exam Blues: My Teenage Years Ah, adolescence! Who does not miss it? I don’t really, sorry!

But really, everyone misses their adolescence. Don’t they, everybody misses those golden-kissed days of youth, summer, winter and spring when one could just go out with a cute, lanky boy or girl and savour those memories for the rest of their lives.

And most importantly, exams; Grade 11 and 12 with O and A level results announced in many parts of the world. For us South Asians, whether we follow the escalator method of direct admission to university and college and/or give our O/A level school exams, (whichever system we follow), it can amount to one thing: pre-exam blues.

So, what are pre-exam blues? Well, not to scare the crap out of you but pre-exam blues consist of tension, anxiety, mental break-downs and so forth while contemplating death and suicide every second. Well, it’s not that severe, but in all honesty, it’s not that easy either. Why, when you have been told all your life that your life depends on a handful of grades and their ability to transfer you to a god-damn university (and in some cases, college), then I bet your life … no, I bet my life that it will not be an easy process.

Of course it ain’t easy … and that’s where the problems lay. Deep down inside, before every exam of mine, I knew that I had to hustle it up. If I did not, then I knew my lack of an A (or rather, my lack of many A’s) would lead to a disaster at home. Disaster, in the sense that I would not be getting any

food or “bhat” anymore, which is not good because who wants to die of starvation?

No one.

Back to my pre-exam blues.

Well anyway, the night before my exams was hell-on-earth and usually the un-savoury thoughts began one to two weeks before.

“What will happen if I fail?”

“What will happen if I don’t get my desired grade?”

“What will happen if I don’t get into a top-rate university?”

The last option turned out to be quite interesting. In most cases, students want to get into a top-tier university and then assume they will do as well as they did there before they were admitted in. Not necessarily true. But as they say, to each their own choices.

And for me especially, exams seemed specifically lost like a death threat. No, they seemed more like a waiting execution exercise. Not because of the teachers or the length of the exams themselves, but of what was being taught and our evaluation criteria.

And now five letters.

M-A-T-H-S. Friends, do you like math?

You do?

Good for you.

Did you get an A for Grade 12 calculus?

You did?

Brilliant! Hey someone, give this academic elitist a prize.

No? You know that you are one.

Why no, no? No shaking of the head like that, you got an A in Calculus, for God’s sake.

That makes you an elitist … and you

should be proud of being one.

Just kidding, my friend. Your A is yours to keep.

It was the “A” kids I was always afraid of. They had the power to mould the world as they saw fit and rarely were they questioned. It was an interesting process to see how some of the kids would become their teachers’ pets and then become the “A” kids. One never dared to cross their paths or cross them in any way.

One never knew what arsenal they had (literally) hiding in their backpacks.

On the other hand, there were some pretty fantastic teachers out there who shaped their students to become exceptional human beings. Although my grades at their hands were good, I want to thank them, because other than teaching me good English and some amazing Geography skills, these teachers influenced me as people to become better individuals. In that, they were our real teachers.

However, this might sound a bit crazy, but every time I remember my exam daysand by extension, my high school days I always remember the school park. These days almost every day one hears about demolitions and forced land grabs in every city and town around the world … back then there was greenery.

And how beautiful it was. The peace, the calm, the serenity … greater in quantity and quality. If there is anything I miss post 2008, it is that. That sense of safety may never come back again.

The star-studded heist flick Now You See Me is currently making waves as a refreshing take on crime movies. While the execution of the film has received mixed reviews, the concept of magicians-turned-thieves-turnedphilanthropists seems to have sparked a lot of interest. Except, it’s not really a new idea. Find a clarinet player, a flute player, a saxophone player, a trombone player, a euphonium and a trumpet player. You can mix and match, but sax and trumpets are your priority.

Start jamming

The more you play together and improvise together the better you will sound. Take a piece of music and make all the members improvise their way through it. Don’t aim for perfection and don’t aim for a show, just jam! Morale is important so keep that up. And if any members of the group start to refuse to practice then replace them as soon as possible.

Name your band

Don’t do this until you and your band have been practicing and have gotten to know each other well, which means not before 4-6 months at the least.

Search for gigs

Once you can play competently as a band then start the gigging process. Restaurants are always a good place to start. Make your mark and don’t do free shows. Get your name out there through social media and word of mouth. And lastly just have fun! sabiha mahmud sumi

Feelin’ the blues What happens when you have a random group of extremely talented musicians, with nothing but their passion in common, coming together and just jamming, live, at an open mic event? Magic happens. And just like that, after an unplanned-live-jammingsession at an open-mic night at Kozmo Lounge, Indigo was formed.

The open-mic event, organised by Shafkat Ahmed Dipto, was a night that brought together the jazz and blues lovers of the city. United by their passion for the genre, Dipto, who is also a part of the band - Oronno, took the stage as the lead guitarist and vocalist, along with Tarek Bin Taher, or more commonly known as Jibon, drummer of the popular band Bangla, and Sayed Ashraf Hassan, on the bass guitar. The trio jammed a refreshing yet random set of some of the best blues tracks, until a fourth member, Mirva Tuulia, came in to aid with further vocal works.

After a brilliant performance, the group decided to make this line-up a more permanent arrangement. Afterwards the band also took in Meiraj Husain as the second guitarist.

Indigo is a band purely driven by the tunes of blues, jazz, and funk rock. They are heavily inspired from artists such as BB King, Norah Jones, JJ Cale, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Muddy Waters, Freddy King, Beatles, etc.

For the time being, Indigo plans on focusing strictly on their live performances, covering tracks and playing live as a jam band. As for originals, since the band just formed

only a month ago, they’re still in their syncing and gelling process, improvising and adjusting their individual styles, as well as experimenting with the fusion between blues melodies and Bangla lyrics.

The band’s official first performance took place at the Westin last week, and earned the group immense appreciation from the crowd. Dipto, founder of the Dhaka Blues Society, aims to help spread the Blues community in Dhaka and Indigo is definitely the way to go with it.

Something Marvellous When Fox pulled the plug on a littleknown show called “Firefly”, they had no idea the opportunity they were letting go of. Snowballing through word-of-mouth and DVD sales and downloads, it culminated in a film, and even a decade since it was cut, it enjoys a massive cult following.

The show’s creator Joss Whedon continued from strength to strength, with his debut The Avengers breaking the bank and making history as the third highest grossing Hollywood blockbuster of all time. Now he’s using those credentials to merge elements from the geek bible Firefly with everyone’s favourite superhero mashup to bring us Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The show, which is set right after the events of the Avengers movie, moves away from the Avengers

themselves and focuses on the organisation that brought them together, namely, S.H.I.E.L.D, and specifically, one tactical team. Helmed by Agent Coulson, the team comprises a kickass operative pulled out of early retirement, one lone-wolf type field agent, a pair of ultra lab geeks, and one hacktivist kidnapped and talked into joining up.

Together they roam the skies in a special plane, tracking down superhumans and dangerous weapons of mass destruction, and neutralising the threat to humanity.

movie roles on offer, to whether or not you’ll step on people, or work your way up. With pretty 2D graphics and tonguein-cheek entertainment references and parodies, this is a fun game for the film geek. Intended to be a social game, unless you can get a lot of friends to join in, progress is slow, because you run out of energy points pretty quick and have to wait for them to recharge. Another possible peeve is that sometimes the game takes forever to load on a tablet.

Overall, this is an entertaining, thinking game with a storyline, and definitely worth a try.

Smoke and mirrors Magic is all razzle dazzle so the thing about movies about magicians is that they fall flat if they are all style and no substance.

Call it being a bit jaded by what used to be known as “movie magic.” Nowadays they tend to induce a “so what?” reaction from the younger viewers who have more fastidious standards when it comes to special effects. We know that you can show just about anything on screen. And “Now You See Me” shows four smart alecky magicians – none of them pleasant enough to want to know in real life – tour with their act, in the process robbing banks with a detective hot on their trails. How, does a movie with a cast that includes Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine fall flat, you may ask. It does because the story is so thin and predictable it could have been written on the back of a matchbox. The Oscar-winning actors fax in their performances and Jesse Eisenberg turns in a performance that makes his version of Mark Zuckerberg in “The Social Network” seem like a friendly guy. Admittedly, magician movies are really hard to make well. Movies are illusion in the first place, and to take actors, throw in some special effects and hip Ocean’s 11-style editing isn’t fooling anyone. An almostromance between the loserly Ruffalo and the beautiful Melanie Laurent will have you scratching your head in bewilderment though.

Other than that, you’ve seen enough 21st century heist thrillers to know where this is going. “Now you see me” is a good way to make two hours of your life disappear.

Dear Diary,

October 5, 2013 I decided not to go out with anyone after the break up but it’s just my head talking. Who am I kidding? My heart is still with my first boyfriend for whom I used to have dreamy days and sleepless nights and till now, nothing has changed.

So, last night when he asked me for dinner, I agreed. At dinner I was devouring my favourite cheese cake while he kept sneaking a peak at me and flashing his oh-so-gorgeous smile. Who knew what he had up his sleeve, for some reason I couldn’t wait to find out.He presented me with a small velvety royal blue ring box and took my hand. I could feel my ears burning from all the excitement. Right then, he looked me into the eyes and laughed like a maniac. I was befuddled and very hurt. Could he really be playing a joke as major as this on me?

Without a moment to spare he realised he was being insensitive and hurriedly slipped the ring on my finger. That final gesture left me breathless. It was no ordinary proposal ring but something which had so much more meaning and value. He gave me a promise ring to renew all the unmet/ broken promises from the last time when we were together.

And now takes on the romance! Drama Queen

I am an aspirating artist. I love sketching and doing canvases and was lucky to have a girlfriend who shares my interest. People started buying my drawings and suddenly my girlfriend, started getting more and more distant from me.

Maybe it was the fact that her drawings weren’t getting any recognition. She broke up with me saying that I was too ambitious for her.

I can’t believe my girlfriend would go behind my back again. I forgave her the first time, but it seems like she can’t stop finding someone to fool around with. I finally called it off because the hurt was too much to take.

I was trying to get out of my guy’s house, but every time I tried getting out, he kept pushing me back. Angrily, I started bickering with him so that he would let me out, when suddenly his mother entered through the door.

Turns out he was trying to hide me from her.

My girlfriend’s landline has a parallel connection which goes straight to her parents’ room. Her mother overheard an intimate conversation between me and her and has been eyeing me in a weird way, every time I go to her place.

I asked my friend to shape my eye brows and she literally butchered it using a trimmer. My eyebrows looked like a pair of crooked “U’s.”

Its not in me to be with one person for too long. I get bored of guys very easily and I need someone to be extremely entertaining for me to stick to them.
