01 / Frisco Performance Hall

How does a building’s design peak curiosity?

The Frisco Performance Hall is a theoretical design project that focuses around the concept of perceptual fluency of building composition in relation to the innate human sense of curiosity and the ability to invoke it. The building utilizes Neo-Classical forms and proportionality to achieve a feeling of grandeur and dominance, while also adhering to the old and historic feel of downtown Frisco, Texas. At over 30,000 square feet, the hall can accomodate approximately 1,500 occupants in its auditorium, for a variety of musical and theatrical performances.

The Frisco Performance Hall is an exemplified project that challenges my comprehensive architectural knowledge and ability to work independently. The project requirements revolve around meeting minimum standards for Frisco ISD’s architecture program. One major component is the complete freedom and design agency granted to myself as stated within the project requirements. In addition, the oversight provided by the project managers from Huckabee allowed for the basic integration of real-world architectural systems at a conceptual level

Iter Terra / “Journey to the Earth”

Iter Terra is an experimental design concept placed alongside the Trinity River levy in Dallas, Texas. The building utilizes aggregational-based modules for its main structure, with the usage of trapezoidal geometry creating a set of natural compressions and expansions as one moves through the building. By engaging the building within the levy, the building is utilized as a focal point and allows for a break in the normal sequence of the site, allowing a more complex series of interactions with the landscape.

Social and Behavioral Factors in Design: Understanding Green Space on Campus

Winner of the Texas A&M College of Architecture Fall 2024 Showcase - Voted Best Project

Within the architectural design process, there exists a necessity to maximize positive impacts of sustainable and human-based design. The Campus Outdoor Space Analysis is an empirical research-based project, inteded to better comprehend improvements to human health through design strategies positively correlated with psychological behaviors in humans. By using the environment of Texas A&M, the scope of the project is narrowed to focus on the outdoor spaces of campus and its specific impact of the health and wellbeing of students.

During the project’s introductory phases, we were allocated a research category, that pertained to overall human health and wellbeing. Out of this category, the team was able to begin specific research on green spaces, otherwise considered any landscape or area that includes natural plant elements, and how they are able to positively impact humans. By accumulating survey data directly from students, we were able to discover the architectural potential from potential redesigns of outdoor spaces, and its definitive psychological benefit on its users.
