RoDTEP Scheme Indian government launched the Remission Of Duty or Taxes On Exported Products (RoDTEP) program recently. It covers any duty or tax that exporters have to pay when they export goods from India.

This scheme will reimburse all duties and taxes that were collected at either the manufacturing or transport stage but not covered by any other schemes.

RoDTEP replaces Merchandise Exports from India (MEIS), which is not in compliance with WTO trade standards.

Who is eligible for the RoDTEP Scheme RoDTEP is an Indian scheme that applies to products and services made in India. It was put into effect on January 1, 2021.

Re-exported goods i.e. This scheme does not apply to items manufactured in India but shipped via India. The scheme is applicable to all sectors. The scheme covers all goods to maintain a balance.

RoDTEP is a benefit for merchant exporters as much as it is for manufacturers exporters.

The minimum and maximum turnover thresholds are not required to be eligible for the benefit of the scheme.

The scheme also covers goods sent via courier services to online commerce platforms.

RoDTEP scheme features

Refund of taxes and duties which were previously nonrefundable This scheme will refund all money, including Mandi, VAT, VAT, Coal Cess, Central Excise duty for fuel, and other taxes. The RoDTEP Scheme covers all items previously covered under the MEIS and the RoSTCL (Rebates from State and Central Taxes & Levies).
