OUR STORY

DFND Compression and Performance Wear is meticulously crafted to elevate the training and competitive experiences of all athletes, enabling them to push boundaries, enhance recovery, and accelerate performance. The genesis of our specially sourced, proprietary compression gear arose from a critical need within the U.S. Military. The founders, Jeff Herdman and Steve Burnett, recognized the prevalence of over training and chronic injuries hindering military readiness, greatly compromising soldiers ability to perform duties. Drawing on their background in performance apparel and product design they developed a revolutionary line of compression wear to help reduce injury and increase recovery during training.

Initially tested in the crucible of special forces training, our compression apparel proved instrumental in reducing injuries and downtime, earning it standard-issue status for those aspiring to elite special-operations units. DFND’s reputation extended beyond military circles, embraced by first responders, elite athletes across major sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and MMA.

It wasn’t long before DFND expanded from compression into other lines of training and recovery gear, offering it’s expertise in apparel construction and world-class fabrications to create state of the art garments. Today, DFND offers world class custom embellished training gear utilizing decades of research in fabric and fit. Aside from that, in its mission to protect those that protect us, DNFD also offers a “No Drip. No Melt” line of FR Performance Base Layer products to help protect the men and women of our Fire service departments worldwide. Last, but not least, in 2023 DFND partnered with Celliant to bring a revolutionary line of Infrared Recovery gear to market, helping to reduce inflammation and promote a more restful sleep to aid in the recovery process of athletes everywhere.

STEP 4

Depleted blood reaches the heart, where it is replenished with oxygen and vital nutrients and recirculated to help with continued exercise, or to begin recovery and healing.

STEP 3

Compression enhanced circulation allows for quicker filtration of lactic acid, blood lactate, lymph, and other waste materials, aiding recovery even during the continuation of exercise.

STEP 2

Compression helps deoxygenated blood overcome gravity and move more quickly toward the heart. Returning lymph to the bloodstream helps prevent the excess buildup of fluid – swelling -- in tissue and joints, which can limit mobility and increase recovery time.

Graduated compression design “squeezes” oxygen-depleted blood and lymphatic fluid from the feet and lower legs upward against gravity and through the circulatory and lymph systems.

Unlike blood, lymphatic fluid is not pumped by the heart, but squeezed through the vessels when we use our muscles, a process that is enhanced by graduated compression.

US SPECIAL FORCES MILITARY UNIT STUDY

DFND partnered with a Special Forces Training Command to help study the effects of DFND compression gear on enlisted soldiers . A few of the measured and recorded results were:

95% of the soldiers reported a reduced soreness in the quadriceps and hamstrings while wearing the Active Ax Compression Short during daily training.*

“The results of our study are consistent with a recent meta-analysis that reported that CG use can benefit recovery following strength training or eccentric exercise, and a randomized controlled crossover study reporting significant positive effects of compression tights following resistance training (Brown et al, 2017; Heathen et al, 2019). Our study findings align with another in a military setting investigating the chronic effects of CG use during a 6-week military training course, which reported findings of moderate benefits to muscle soreness and small physical performance.” (Edgar et al, 2022).

Hologenix, LLC, inventors of CELLIANT, formed the Science Advisory Board in 2011 to further establish itself as the leader in responsive textiles. Hologenix works in partnership with the Board to identify, design and execute rigorous clinical studies to further validate and substantiate the benefits in the field of infrared technology.

The Science Advisory Board works with primary investigators to rigorously test and validate the science of infrared and its benefits.
