K&K SKIN PRODUCTS
A Revolution in the World of Cosmetics Anya Sebastian
It was clearly a partnership that was meant to be. Two sisters-in-law, one a research scientist and one an artisan specializing in blending natural oils for skincare, came together to combine art and science in a revolutionary new line of skincare products.
DR. KRISTINA TRUJILLO, WHO SPENT OVER A DECADE as a biochemistry professor at the University of New Mexico, had come across a molecule that was to change her life. Similar to resveratrol, an ingredient derived from red grapes and often found in high end, anti-aging products, this molecule was even more powerful, with six times more anti-oxidant properties and ten times more anti-inflammatory properties than resveratrol itself. Dr. Trujillo immediately recognized this as an exciting breakthrough; the challenge was how best to maximize its potential. The answer came when Dr. Trujillo’s sister-in-law, Katie, invited her to come and help with the line of skincare products she was putting together. Based on years of research and experimentation, Katie had created different oil blends that had successfully cured her own skin conditions. That is when Dr. Kristina really began to understand and appreciate the scientifically proven properties of these oils. They could be anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-

inflammatory, anti-oxidant, calming, energizing, healing... and that is when an idea suddenly occurred to her. What might happen if Katie’s products were to be combined with the molecule she was so excited about? The rest, as they say, is history. After extensive research and impressive results obtained from well over 100 volunteers, it was abundantly evident that this revolutionary skincare product worked to dramatically reduce the appearance of wrinkles, stretch marks and scars. It even had a visible impact on psoriasis, eczema and rosacea. Just one product, the BioVer-X Anti-Aging Wrinkle Serum, contains the molecule, for which a cosmetic patent is currently pending. Produced in a certified organic facility in Taos, it does not have any harsh preservatives. “Most cosmetic products are water-based,” explains Kristina, “and since water goes rancid over
