CREATIVE EXCHANGE AND MODEL CONDITIONING UMEA AND MANIPAL UNIVERSITY 1ST – 4TH YEAR

HUMAN-CENTRIC AFFORDABLE DESIGN SITE AREA: 35922 SQM BUILT-UP AREA: 53226.4 SQM LANDSCAPE AREA: 22165 SQM Shatabdi colony is being designed to accommodate 300 families of Indian railway staff and employees.

The focus aspect of this project is the development of the master plan, site services, and landscape features along with the colony’s affordability.

SHATABDI COLONY RAILWAY COLONY (WORK IN PROGRESS) GOKULAM, MYSORE, KARNATAKA 2023

Type – II, III, and IV quarters with a community space and guest house should be designed to be interactive to its users.

The sensory perception concept of color theory and landscape is the main element in the planning and designing of the Shatabdi colony.

Mivan construction technique is being used due to its faster construction time which tends to be more affordable than typical construction technique.

MASTER PLAN

3 entry and exit points with 175 parking for users and visitors have been well planned within the colony.

Landscape features blended within the colony planning are canopy outdoor seating, bicycle, and jogging track, playground, and rainwater reservoir.

Vehicular roads made up of poroelastic surfaces and bicycle tracks with asphalt vegetable binder both are sustainable, cost-effective, and ecofriendly.

Site services such as sewage treatment plants, solar panels, transformers, and generators have been implemented.

GOLDFINCH CITY, MANGALORE, KARNATAKA 2022

Project Legacy is a mixed-use development project for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) 200 employees.

The objective was to develop a project including a commercial zone, office space, and residential complex along with a clubhouse, open gardens and tracks, and recreational zones.

Hierarchy in the provision and design of flat based on employees’ credibility was to be understood and implemented.

Compressed stabilized mud block walls were raised for the retail store due to their lower carbon emission.

Jaali work is provided at the façade of the office area for sunshade and to reduce heat gain.

ENERGY EFFICIENT STRATEGIES Jaali work is installed in front of the curtain wall of the commercial spaces that act as a double skin façade which reduces the daylight intake and keeps the space cool reducing the EPI.

The objective was to develop a model plan for the Raichur Gram Panchayat, Karnataka.

The Kheda pravas model plan comprises office space, an Anganwadi center, an e-library, and a guest house, a blend of public, private, and semi-private zones.

Integration of alternative building materials and technology with respect to the climatic conditions of Raichur ( hot and dry ) as a climate-responsive aspect.

The EPI method was used to evaluate the panchayat building energy efficiency.

CLIMATE RESPONSIVE FEATURES

Services provided are soak pits, electrical room, and overhead water tanks.

The western façade is treated with the help of Jaali wall and flooring made up of perforated tiles.

Orientation of buildings is done in a pattern to reduce the heat gain on the southern side but also provide efficient daylight to all the spaces.

The courtyards are used as a technique for proper ventilation, daylight, and reduction in heat gain and transfer.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY MEASURES To reduce the value of the energy performance index (EPI) hollow clay brick has been used for wall construction.

Filler slabs are provided with terracotta tiles and air gaps to reduce heat gain and provide user comfort.

Stucco plaster finish on the exterior and interior walls for a cooling effect.

CAMPUS DESIGN SITE AREA: 8000 SQM BUILT-UP AREA: 3082.50 SQM The project is designed to provide adequate training in market-relevant skills to the region’s youth and improve the scope and space for the underdeveloped sector.

The academy was designed and inspired by the bishop tree branches and contrasts were created with the blend of wooden architectural features and color palette.

Design planning incorporated landscape and renewable energy features.

LANDSCAPE A shelter belt of Sheesham trees was planted for air purification and noise cancellation.

Filter strips are designed right below the shelter belts for groundwater recharge.

Outdoor seating spaces, open terraces, and green roof all plays an important role in creating an interactive space for the users.

Gulmohar and mango trees were used for shading due to their dense and wide foliage.

LUXURIOUS LIVING DESIGN Residence design was the initial stage of the architectural study The Oasis is a G+1 structure housing 6-8 users.

The objective was to create a user-friendly experience and interactive planning with landscape integration The feature was to utilize software such as Revit for designing and Twinmotion for rendering.

Oasis is a traditional load-bearing structure made up of red clay brick masonry.

The exterior façade is treated with limestone chipped blocks.
