With a 3-5 record, the Catholic Central basketball team has overcome early adversity to get their season back on track.

The unity of the basketball team is shown through the hard work and efforts of everyone, from the senior captains Brady Butcher and Landon Lodato and junior captain Cooper Craggs, to the newest members of the team, such as freshamn Chas Lewless.

One of the hardest things to do as a team during this pandemic is develop chemistry. To overcome this obstacle, these Shamrocks arranged and played street basketball during the summer and trained together over Zoom.

Now that the boys are back playing the sport they love, it is especially satisfying to watch them play.

Anyone who watches them will see a team that has a bench that is cheerful, ecstatic, and supportive.

One of their goals is to reach the regional finals, which is absolutely achievable.

In an interview with Brady Butcher, he said,

“Our greatest strength by far is the all-around unity and connection of the team. It really feels like a brotherhood. Out of the four years I have played basketball at CC, this team has felt the most connected.”

He explained further, “Hard work pays off. I’ve worked very hard and am honored to be the captain with my Shamrock up on the wall. It will feel good to look back and know I gave 110%.”

The basketball team has proven to be and will continue to be the epitome of “Faith over Fear.”
