THE NIFTY ’50s

1950 - JERRY
SCHMIDT and his spouse, Pat, celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on October 27, 2021. Jerry and Pat continue to attend many CC gatherings.
1953 - The Werewolf of Belmont Avenue, a.k.a. Vince Lee ‘53, made his appearance along with Tom Moylan ‘53, Joe McKevitz ‘53, Jerry Zdeb ‘53, and Jerry Dywasuk ‘53 at a Halloween luncheon on October 29, 2021, at Rocky’s of Northville. Good stories and CC camaraderie are always shared when these guys get together.

1956 & 1960 - ROBERT KLEIN and FR. DAVE KLEIN, CSB
went hiking together at Glacier National Park (Montana) in September 2021. 1957 - Members of the Class of 1957 gathered for an outdoor lunch at CC on August 19, 2021. The event was organized by Ed Breyer ‘57 and the CC Office of Advancement.

THE GROOVY ’70s
1977 - PAT BYRNES works for the cartoon syndicate, Cagle Cartoons, and his work has been published in The New Yorker. He was recently featured in an October article in the Detroit Catholic.
1977 - MARC RULLO came home to CC for a visit in August 2021. He was able to catch up with one of his old football coaches, too, Jim Gibbons ‘68. Marc lives in North Carolina and is Senior Manager of Business Development for Energy Network.
1979 - LANCE GOTKO, with many prayers to Mary, Alma Mater, successfully finished walking the 500-mile Camino de Santiago pilgrimage on October 18, 2021. His pilgrimage began in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France and ended at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain, which houses the remains of the apostle Saint James the Greater. It was hard but rewarding – the trek of a lifetime!

1979 - BOB LESSNAU is the Vice President and General Curator of the Audubon Nature Institute in New Orleans. He was recognized for his leadership in helping the zoo and aquarium weather the storm of Hurricane Ida.
THE TECHNO ’80s

and his father, John Cottrell ‘55, visited CC in November 2021. Mark lives in Texas and recently retired from AT&T.

1991 - MIKE
THOMAS is President and CEO of Impact Now Training and Left to right: Aaron Babicz ‘93, Kevin Glenn, Consulting, LLC. Tim Burke ‘86, and Mike Thomas ‘91 He recently came home to CC for a visit. Also, he and his teammates from the 1990 State Championship Football Team were honored and inducted into the Catholic Central Athletic Hall of Fame at this year’s Boys’ Bowl.

2001 - JOHN GOEBEL
was married to Hannah Crawt in September 2021 near Windsor, England. His brother, Brian ‘98, and classmate, Ryan Boudreau ‘01, were in Left to right: Ryan Boudreau ‘01, John attendance. John is Director Goebel ‘01, and Brain Goebel ‘98 of Finance for Elements Global Services, working out of the company’s London, U.K. office. Brian is an instructor at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Ryan is a high-tech engineer in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 2007 - KYLE BRIDGES married Alyssa Hauler on May 8, 2021, at Sweetest Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Detroit.

2008 - RYAN HOUSKA
married Katherine Johnson from Brisbane, Australia, on July 26, 2020. Due to Covid challenges, there was a small family wedding in Traverse City.
2009 - TONY THOMAS and his wife, Mary, welcomed their second son, Jack Robert Thomas, on April 18, 2021. Big brother, Dean, will be three years old in December. Tony is a Captain in the US Air Force and currently is an Associate Professor of Aerospace Studies/ ROTC recruiter at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
2009 - JOSH WALTERS and his wife, Sarah, welcomed their daughter, Evelyn Louise, on July 25, 2021. She weighed 6 lbs. 10.5 oz., and measured 18.5 inches.
THE CONNECTED ’10s
2013 - EDDIE TUREK married Rosa Mercado on July 17, 2021, at St. Joseph Parish in Harvard, Illinois.

was accepted into the University of Michigan Medical School Class of 2025 and received his white coat during a ceremony at Hill Auditorium.
2015 - SPENCER SOVA married Grace Bolt on October 2, 2021, in Springville, Utah.

2017 - BLAKE BUETER
is a senior at Michigan State University where he is pursuing a degree in packaging. He is also a member of the Spartan Football Team where he has earned three varsity letters Mike Carrier ‘06, Blake Bueter ‘17, and and Academic All-Big Ten Mike Meister ‘83 honors twice. Blake visited Catholic Central during the Michigan State bye week in October prior to the big game against Michigan.

THE SOCIAL ’20s
2021 - JOHNNY BRADY seen here at the 2021 Boys’ Bowl game with his dad, Michael Brady ‘91, and his grandfather, Terry Brady ‘58. Johnny continues to help and support CC and the community through his company, JB Productions, a DJ and photography company that serves many different types of events and gatherings, including school functions, corporate events, weddings, and parties. 2021 - PATRICK CULLITON, SAM GOMEZ, and

Jo Evangelista with Bob Santello ‘58 Mrs. Josephine Evangelista recently celebrated her 100th birthday on October 22. Jo worked at Catholic Central for 35 years as a secretary in the Attendance Office, Athletic Office, and Guidance Office before retiring in August 2007.
She is the mother of four children, three of whom attended CC (Doug ‘69, Mike ‘74, and the late Jon ‘67).
She also served as President of the Mothers’ Club in 1970-1971. Her grandson, Marc ‘95, is also a CC graduate. The CC Community congratulates Mrs. Jo Evangelista on her joyous celebration, and we wish her continued health and happiness in the years to come.
