BEECROFT

Lorna Beecroft @ Artavita www.lornabeecroftartist.com

Lorna Beecroft lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada on a small hobby farm with her husband, horses and cats. Surrounded by animals she loves, including much wildlife, she will see an interesting behaviour, a tilt of a head, subtle expression, or graceful line and feel compelled to capture the moment and feeling in her art. The joy of creating for her is watching the subject materialize as if of its own will.

Lorna has had a life-long joy of creating with anything at hand. Her serious journey into art began in 2015 when she completely immersed herself in drawing and painting. She has followed her own selfdirected educational path, attending workshops with world-class artists, taking in-person courses, using online resources, and hours upon hours of practice

ARLENE BUSTER

Webcams and surveillance technology can generate an array of social dilemmas. Such social challenges compel Arlene Buster to create her paintings. Arlene’s compositions portray scenes that draw the eye to the ever-present surveillance culture and the erosion of privacy. By utilizing oil paints, brushes, and canvases, she leads us into a world in which society is viewed through the lens of a camera. Arlene uses a realist approach to construct her works of figurative art. She deliberately implements pixelizations and glitches, known as technological nuisances, into her compositions.

The Los Angeles area is home to the award-winning Cuban-American artist. The daughter of two Cuban exiles was born in 1969, in Hoboken, NJ. Her passion for painting was first cultivated through private art lessons she received as a child. She persisted in her painting endeavours and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from Montclair State University. In the furtherance of her development and a quest to paint in the tradition of the old masters, she pursued a formal education at the Academy of Art University. The education she received was, to a greater extent, a classical approach to painting and drawing. She learned to paint in a realistic style while integrating contemporary concepts in her work. Despite several physical health challenges throughout the process, she earned her Master of Fine Arts in Figurative Painting.

RICHARD

FERGUSON

“I have always used art to engage the viewer in a more comprehensive dialog than the purely visual. I use the image to draw the person into an inner discussion with the painting. Some of the comments I have heard offer surprising insight into my work and the viewers inner thoughts about it.

I believe that people enjoy this engagement and quickly move past the realistic vehicle to the inherent content it carries. Whenever possible, I quietly listened as viewers discussed what I meant to express. Sometimes they express the idea I had in mind, but more often, it’s a story unique to them and, inevitably, just as relevant to the work. “

RICK HURST

Rick Hurst @ Artavita

“My childhood refuge in Mississippi was to immerse myself in the natural world around me. This eventually led to a 1982 Bachelor degree and courses at Parsons School of Design. Not finding a job in the arts field, I joined the federal government and eventually retired in Washington, DC as a paralegal.

After moving to the Gulf Coast, I revived my interest in abstracts and my talents in acrylics and watercolors. I participated in art markets, artists’ co-ops, galleries & art shows, even winning awards and mounting a 6-month one-man show.

To satisfy my cravings for new avenues of creativity, I began experimenting with digital photos of nature and architecture, altering colors and combining images in multiple overlays. By the time I moved to St Petersburg, Florida in 2016, I was wholly committed to the digital art world.

Now I have new tools for expressing myself as an artist: I work with clean hands — no brushes, no splattered paints — and I can take new photographs and work digitally from any location.”

István Vágó @. Artavita

“I have been working with enamel painting techniques for nearly 25 years. Both the material and the techniques are magical. During the process of gaining the proper skills, the individual technique of the artist is forming and developing until they find their unique feature, which is like a fingerprint. Then the style is born. In my case, my attraction to history led me to the historical style, to the adaption of myths and legends. I like to visit the fields of the most particular styles and trends. It is a challenge, a kind of deepening to elaborate a topic in renaissance or art deco style or bravely mix the different styles like a collage.”
