New Academic Staff 2023 GRANT WOOLER - DEPUTY HEAD (ACADEMIC) Following the retirement of Mr Ian Vallance after eight years of dedicated service, Mr Grant Woolner has joined Luckley House School as Deputy Head (Academic) from Shiplake College where he has worked for the last five years as Master of Scholars and Enrichment and Head of Theology and Philosophy. As Master of Scholars, Mr Woolner developed Shiplake College’s Scholarship and Oxbridge programmes. Mr Woolner is a long serving academic leader whose experience also includes being the Head of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the Perse School, time teaching at the City of London School and three years as Assistant Housemaster in a co-educational boarding House at Bedford School. In addition to an MA in Divinity from the University of Edinburgh, Mr Woolner also holds a PGCE from York, St John. His interests include diverse and adventurous travel, alongside running and avid reading.
DAVID ROSE – HEAD OF BOARDING With Mr Chris Hill’s promotion to Deputy Headmaster of an International School, Mr David Rose has joined us as Head of Boarding, from St John’s International School in Belgium. Prior to that, Mr Rose worked for over seven years as a Housemaster, Deputy DSL and Teacher of Business Studies. For most of his career, Mr Rose has worked in school boarding houses and has extensive experience. He also has over 20 years’ experience of teaching Business Studies. Mr Rose’s wife, Zoe, has joined boarding as an Evening Nurse and Pastoral Tutor and their eldest daughter has also started in Year 7 at Luckley.
FIONA LENNON – HEAD OF DT AND HEAD OF CAREERS After four years, Mr Scott McNaughton leaves Luckley to work at a Prep School closer to his home. Mrs Fiona Lennon has joined Luckley as Head of Design & Technology and Head of Careers from Bohunt School where she worked as Head of STEM and Subject Lead for Design and Technology. Mrs Lennon has over 20 years’ teaching experience, primarily gained at Archbishop Holgate’s School, where she worked for over 16 years. As an extension of her Design and Technology teaching role, Mrs Lennon studied for and gained a Level 6 Diploma in Careers Advice and Guidance and was awarded a Level 6 Certificate in Careers Leadership. This enables her to advise students through the transition to higher education, including the preparation of UCAS statements, apprenticeship applications or work-related documents
