I am excited to introduce to you our programme of Luckley House Events, Masterclasses and Workshops for 2023/24 I look forward to working closely with our feeder schools to share the breadth of expertise afforded to our pupils by our specialist teaching team. Our talented and forward thinking teaching staff would be also delighted to work with you to provide tailored sessions to meet the individual requirements of your pupils. This could be in the form of lessons and events hosted at Luckley, or taught within your own school. I would like to start with offering the opportunities detailed within this booklet. 1. Dance workshop - an energetic 60-minute session with one of our resident dance specialists. 2. History workshop - a fascinating 80-minute lesson, studying under-water archaeology in sunken pirate ships, with Head of History, Mr Phillips. 3. Backpacking - Race Across the World - a fun workshop using basic language skills to ‘travel’ across France, Germany and Spain. 4. In addition to the opportunities for your pupils to experience specialised coaching and teaching, our sports programme offers valuable CPD for your own teaching staff. This programme will evolve over time as we add more classes and events, and we are very open to receiving suggestions from you as to what you would like us to provide. If you would like to book any of the sessions within this booklet or would like to discuss your own individual requirements, please contact Desni Luckin, Head of Marketing & Admissions on 0118 974 3215. Email: desni.luckin@luckleyhouseschool. org. Please do let us know if you require help with transport as we may be able to offer minibus pick-up for local schools. I look forward to working with you in the near future. Best wishes Areti Bizior, Headmistress

DANCE WORKSHOPS

Our resident dance specialists would like to present a 60 minute dance workshop for pupils in Years 5 to 8.

Pupils will learn jazz/modern dance style choreography and practice the routines, before delivering a fun and energetic performance.

DISCOVER THE TREASURES BENEATH THE SEA A FASCINATING PIRATE SHIP-THEMED HISTORY WORKSHOP FOR PUPILS IN YEARS 5 TO 8.

The coastline of Britain is a treasure trove of historical information; everyone knows about the Mary Rose, but there are more than 40,000 other ships waiting to be explored. The question is - how do we get that information to the surface? And once we have it, how can we use it?

In this 80 minute hands-on workshop, pupils get to see the difficulties of exploring historical sites that are underwater. They will also work with undersea photographs to draw conclusions about the past, and explore an online database of wreck sites that have been recorded by underwater archaeologists.

BACKPACKING RACE ACROSS THE WORLD USE BASIC LANGUAGE SKILLS TO GET THROUGH SPAIN, FRANCE AND GERMANY

In this fun one-hour session pupils will work in teams. The teams will be allocated the normal airfare to get to a country far away. They have to “travel” through Spain, France and Germany using basic language skills to buy food other essentials, such as train and, bus tickets. They would need to investigate the fastest and cheapest route.

YOUTH SPEAKS LEARN THE ART OF EFFECTIVE AND PERSUASIVE DEBATING!

The ability to deliver a convincing point of view or argument and to present your thoughts in a clear and articulate way is a skill which is valued highly in school and in the world at large. As such, we are delighted to offer students the opportunity to participate in this two-hour masterclass on public speaking. During the session, pupils will research a topic in small groups and prepare to engage in a debate on the issue, demonstrating their ability to frame a line of argument and support this with appropriate evidence. DELIVERED BY LUCKLEY’S ENGLISH DEPARTMENT

CHORAL WORKSHOP SING TOGETHER! 7 May 2024 We would like to welcome some 200 prep and primary school pupils from Year 5 & 6 to an exciting day of choral workshops culminating in a presentation to parents at 4.30pm.
