NEWS FROM LUCKLEY HOUSE SCHOOL

TEAM-BUILDING FOR YEAR 7 OAKWOOD CENTRE On Wednesday, Year 7 pupils embarked on their team-building day with great enthusiasm. After splitting into three groups, they set off to take part in various activities, including mountain boarding, archery, low ropes and high ropes. It was lovely to see this new year group working together, trusting each other and supporting each other in new challenges. Amani was particularly delighted to jump the leap of faith and Boh was brilliant at mountain boarding! It was amazing to watch one group complete the low ropes in total silence, which is no mean feat - well done! It was so nice to see the children thank the instructors at the end of the day, I was so proud of them!

FUN CHALLENGE FOR YEAR 8 AT HORSESHOE LAKE Year 8 pupils arrived to a glorious sunny afternoon at Horse Shoe Lake on Thursday where, after decorating their glamping pods, they set about dragon boat racing. A girls v boys race resulted in three consecutive wins for the girls, who were delighted! A late supper followed, made by Luckley’s wonderful chef, Emily, which was devoured as we watched the sun set over the lake. The evening finished with the telling of ghost stories by pupils, with hot chocolate by the camp fire. After a chilly night, everyone was up early, full of life and excited for the day of activities on the water, which included paddle boarding, kayaking, raft building and canoeing. Great fun was had by all! Esther Brown, Head of Section (Lower School)

MFL ESCAPE ROOM Last Friday, Year 7 pupils enjoyed a Languages lesson like no other, with all three Language classes coming together in the hall for an ‘Escape Room’ challenge. Pupils worked together to solve a series of puzzles and find hidden clues to crack a code. They were lucky to be helped by two of our Sixth Form students, Virginia and Isobel, and managed to break out of the escape room just in time to get their buses home! We were so impressed by the pupils and look forward to planning more treats in the future! Mrs Molloy, Head of MFL

IN LESSONS THIS WEEK: GCSE Food & Nutrition students made chicken goujons.
