A NATURE DEFINED ARTISAN

Molai Lydia, a nature defined artisan as she prefers to call herself. Born and bred in Zimbabwe, she realised her artistic gift at a tender age of 8.

The gift was nurtured to Peter Birch Art College in Harare for a Diploma which later landed her at Chinhoyi University of Technology for a Creative Art and Industrial Design Honors Degree. Over the years her primary strength only lied in drawing and painting nature related artefacts which is in- terpreted by most of her work.

After the four years grooming at CUT the writer is pleased to announce that the artist can also be called Lydia the industrial designer. Her present work now includes furniture design, painting on fabric enhancing to bring out a signature finish.The inclusion of stone sculpture and vase casting show how immensed the art devotee is. Creativity is shown in the designer’s painting design titled shades of blue and is used on a tub chair.

The designer hypes the girl child to pursue their dreams all they can for only the sky is the limit. In her words ‘no career is specifically meant for men im pushing and exploring ny dreams in the male dominated art Industry and appreciating the outcome by God’s grace ‘.A company named after the artisan Lydia Arts Private Limited was established in 2020 and has been keeping up with the trends since then. It’s vision is to become the powerhouse of all genres of art across the globe.
