Ioften hear conversation about preserving our culture and i wonder what is the culture.

Culture by definition is the customary beliefs, social forms and material traits of a racial, religious and social group. We so often imagine men and women in animal skin holding spears and bows.

Indeed our ancestors did thrive of the land. An example of that is a reflection into the rural lifestyle. They live a simple life by keeping livestocks and farming. Our culture is now corroded by the in-

fluence of social media or this new era of technology and globalization. Families are no longer what they were, with new dream of chasing the economy. Both parents are rarely at home. Children are now raised by older siblings, nannies or the internet. Information has become easy to access and people easily influenced by that which see.

Music videos, movies and social media are now The culture. They raise our kids. They teach them who they are and who to become. They tell them how to dress. They put them in box and tell how to think, how to act and simply how to become.

It is street vendors selling their vegetables and tomatoes.

I remember siting in a bus and looking around, i was saddening to witness that no one was looking up. Heads were all looking down to their phones, some had earphones but all were absorbing The Culture.

If you want to learn about our cukture, embrace your surrounding. Look up! Culture is everything around you. It is the people and their characters. It is street vendors selling their vegetables and tomatoes. It is how our drivers drive and how are buildings are build. Culture is you, embracing who you are.
