Escape Room Sensation “Breaks Out” in Hot Springs
he clock is ticking. You have one hour to use your brain to solve puzzles, discover secrets and unlock the clues necessary to escape. Though this may sound like a scene from the latest action adventure movie, it’s actually Escape Hot Springs, a live action-themed escape room attraction that is taking the Spa City by storm. Escape Hot Springs gives players the opportunity to accomplish a specific task such as escaping a locked room, solving a crime or even “robbing” a bank in a limited amount of time. “Teamwork and outside-the-box thinking is rewarded as you try to escape before the one-hour time limit is up,” says Josh Drake, one of the Escape Hot Springs owner. Escape rooms are popping up all over the United States and have become very popular in Europe and Asia. The games are set in a variety of fictional locations, such as prison cells, dungeons and space stations, and often used as
team building exercises. Drake, along with his business partners, Dan McDonough and T.J. Mahaffey, opened Escape Hot Springs in March 2016. The idea to bring an escape room attraction to Hot Springs came to Drake after he and his children visited a similar attraction while on vacation a few summers ago in Washington, DC. Currently Escape Hot Springs has two rooms available, with plans for up to five rooms with different themes. “The Bathhouse and Gambler” room is perfect for first time escape room participants, says Drake, while “The Cold Case” room’s plethora of clues will keep even more experienced escape participants guessing. Escape Hot Springs is located at 200 Spring Suite, #200 in Hot Springs. The cost is $20.00 per person and admission is by reservation, For more information or to make a reservation, call go to EscapeHotSprings.com or call 501463-6532.

Or opt for a more upscale experience at the Quapaw Baths. And when you are finished with your bath, stop by the Fordyce Bathhouse which serves as the Bathhouse Row Visitor Center. You can even stop in for a tasty beverage and pub food at the Superior Brewery housed in the former Superior Bathhouse.
