wood or composite paddles. Experts estimate there are at least three million Pickleball players in the U.S. And more than 300 live in Hot Springs Village, according to the Hot Springs Village Pickleball Club. Give the game a swing today! For more information, go to HSVPickleball.org. BOCCE BALL The Bocce Ball courts are located across from the Coronado Community Center. The game of skill and concentration, rather than physical stamina, is fun and easy to learn. It is played on a flat surface (similar to a bowling lane) with the object to position game balls as close as possible to the target ball (pallino). All equipment is provided by the Village Bocce Ball Club.

TENNIS The Coronado Tennis Center is a 13-court complex with USPTA Elite Tennis Professional, lounge, and pavilion. Ten of the center’s courts are clay, and the remaining three are hard surface. The Hot Springs Village Tennis Association, with nearly 400 members, offers league play at all levels including mixed leagues, women’s / men’s doubles, and, junior tennis. USTA Adult Leagues are encouraged.

SOFTBALL The Senior Softball League is open to men 50 years or older and women 35 years and older. The league plays two sessions each year: Spring (Apr. - Jun.) and Fall (Aug. - Nov.). The games are played on Thursday mornings at the Boys & Girls Club’s field off HWY 7.

PICKLEBALL Pickleball offers some serious opportunities for exercise, team play, and a whole lot of fun. What exactly is Pickleball you may ask? It is played by two or four players on a badminton-size court, with a slightly modified tennis net, using a perforated plastic ball, and

LAWN BOWLING The Village Green Bowls Club is active all year. Lawn bowling is a game with moderate exercise. The game is played on a green with a target ball and is similar to regular bowling. However, the balls weigh only two to three pounds and are less strenuous on the legs and back. The object of the game is to get balls near the target ball. The balls are biased so they are rolled left to right or right to left making lawn bowling a challenge.

Splash Wine Bar

plash Wine Bar owner Cathy Caver is excited about her newest venture, one she refers to as “a ritzy, yet inviting wine bar” in the heart of downtown Hot Springs. Cathy is also the owner of Chrysalis Day Spa, which has been thriving in Hot Springs for 14 years. Splash Wine Bar has been a labor of love, literally 12 years in the making. When Cathy found an historic building, circa 1900, that was once a tile and plumbing business in the Ouachita Avenue Historic District, she knew she had found the ideal spot. Splash offers its own private label of wines. White wine lovers can select from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, as well as sparkling wines and white blends. For those wine lovers who prefer red, try the delicious Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Syrah, Malbec, Zinfandel, Sangria, or red blend.

Teen Challenge Arkansas

een Challenge Arkansas is a faith-based Christian discipleship program that assists males ages 18 and older who struggle with life controlling issues such as addiction. Located in Hot Springs Village, the program is non-medical and non-clinical. The biggest difference between Teen Challenge Arkansas and a traditional recovery program is the focus on Christ. The Teen Challenge Arkansas curriculum emphasizes the power of God’s Word to help students develop a stronger

connection to their faith. The entire Teen Challenge Arkansas staff, including everyone from the Executive Director to the Vintage Mall staff who manage and supervise a thrift store where students perform work detail duties, have witnessed that faith makes a huge difference in recovery. Executive Director Tim Culbreth and his staff at Teen Challenge Arkansas are aware of society’s massive struggle with opioid addiction and how that affects youth. Culbreth states his belief that “some of this is because of lax supervision from medical professionals. Some is because addicts know how to play the system. But much of this is because of a massive spiritual cavern in the souls of people searching for help and answers.” Teen Challenge Arkansas strives to help fill that spiritual void by implementing a holistic approach to recovery that helps restore a relationship with God and fill a spiritual void. 155 Walnut Valley Road, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909, 501-624-2446. Our door is always open. Teen Challenge Arkansas Vintage Mall Thrift Store: located at 1679 North Highway 7, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909, 501-624-2446 TeenChallengeAR.org

eed to pick up a few forgotten grocery items? Need some fresh organic produce? Feel like you want to change what you have planned for dinner? Craving some ice cream? Located in the east side of the Village, TJ’s Neighborhood Market offers the convenience and variety of food and beverage items that have not previously been available. Among the offerings are an ice cream parlor, as well as coffee and espresso. There are delicious baked goods, deli meats, and a selection of organic foods (including produce), gluten free, and dairy free products. “Ready to heat” casseroles, cheeses, milk, eggs, bread, wine, and other grocery necessities also line the shelves and coolers of the market. There are plans for future events at TJ’s Neighborhood Market as well. “In spring and fall, once a month, we’ll do a Jep’s fish fry,” Helberg said. “There will also be wine tastings on Friday nights,” she adds.

It is obvious that customer service is very important to Helberg and Thibault, and their goal is to meet the customer at the door with a smile. “If there is something you’d like and don’t see it, please let us know, and we will try to get it,” Thibault pledges. Filling a Special Niche in the Village

ears ago, Trisha Jones read a book, Annie’s Rainbow, and today she is fulfilling the dream that story inspired. In early June, Jones opened Artfully Baked & Brewed, a special gathering place that offers coffee, tea, baked items, breakfast, and light lunches. As a first-time entrepreneur, Jones is excited about what she created and believes that its uniqueness and warm atmosphere fills a void in Hot Springs Village. Located near the east gate at the corner of Ponce de Leon and DeSoto, Artfully Baked & Brewed offers a cozy bistrolike ambiance with small 2-person tables, a comfortable

area with a fireplace, plus board games encouraging people to just sit and enjoy themselves. As a lover of the arts, Artfully Baked & Brewed features various local artists in a variety of art forms. When asked about the staff Joan said, “It has been gathered by karma,” indicating that wonderful people just showed up with the expertise and experience that was needed.” Find us at: 1398 DeSoto Blvd, Ste. Gastronomy in Little Rock

Bar and Table is a one-of-a-kind dining experience, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with this team at a restaurant that offers a creative and internationally-inspired menu,” said André Poirot who recently assumed the role of executive chef over restaurant, banquet, and catering operations. The full-service restaurant is located inside the Clinton Presidential Library and features an unparalleled view of the lighted pedestrian bridge. The menu includes daily specials: The 42 Chicken Sandwich, a superb concoction of fried chicken, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato on a brioche bun. The Fried Egg Bagel features American cheese on a cinnamon bagel. There are also daily soups including Chicken Corn Chowder, Spinach and Asparagus Bisque, as well as a beef stew. Entrees include Herb Provencal Pan-Seared Salmon, Thyme Braised Veal Osso Bucco, Bone-In Pan-Fried Pork Chop, and Pepper Grilled Beef Tenderloin. Whether your favorite libation is a locally brewed draft beer, a signature cocktail, or a quality bottle of wine to share, 42 Bar and Table has you covered. Dine at 42 Bar and Table for a “Presidential” culinary experience. 1200 President Clinton Avenue (In the Clinton Presidential Library) Little Rock, AR 72201, 501-537-0042, 42BarAndTable.org

ining at Cache is all about savoring. Savor small bites that have a big taste: Hummus and Hearth-Fired Pita, Fried Calamari, Shrimp & Grits, or Blackened Tuna Wontons. Enjoy traditional pizzas, such as the aptly named Carnivore (Marinara, Pepperoni, Salami, and Mozzarella) and the Herbivore (Pesto, Crispy Brussels, Mushrooms, and Mozzarella). For dinner opt for a land selection or enjoy an offering from the sea. Tantalizing entrees include New York Strip Steak, Blackened Shrimp, Lobster Tail, Scottish Salmon, and Chilean Sea Bass. Desserts are graceful and elegant like Tiramisu and Crème Brûlée. What really sets Cache apart from other restaurants is the fromage. Pick an international cheese and complement it with a glass or bottle of your favorite wine. It does not get more elegant than that. 425 President Clinton Avenue, Little Rock, Arkansas 72201, 501-850-0265 CacheLittleRock.com

ithout a doubt much time and detail went into the design concept of 501 Prime. Oyster lovers will appreciate the full oyster bar that is nothing short of top of the line from Chef Matt Fuller. 501 Prime has a fine (and ever ex panding) wine selection, and you will discover liquor and beer offerings rarely seen in this part of the country. General Manager Jeff Falls has picked an outstanding selection of beer on tap (Guinness, Yuengling, Stella Artois, Blue Moon, Sam Adams, and the exceptionally rare Boddingtons Ale, and Fuller’s London Porter.) Local buzz from those “in the know” is that the scotch and bourbon assortment from Matt’s stash may surprise even the most accomplished connoisseur. As for the dining experience, customers typically have several absolute favorites including the grilled oysters, the Brie & truffle soup (you will sop every drop up with your bread), and the scallopor lobster-deviled eggs. Feast on perennial customer favorites surf and turf, Hawaiian ribeye, or cooked to perfection smoked prime rib. Complete your 501 Prime dining experience with a classically delicious dessert like creme brûlée, bread pudding, or cheesecake. Enjoy an after dinner hibiscus margarita or amaretto sour. 215 E. For those new to the Sushi experience, Sashimi is thinly sliced raw meat: usually fish, such as salmon or tuna, and it is served without rice. The hibachi dinners have earned the reputation as being some of the best in the Hot Springs Village and surrounding areas. Try lunch from the Hibachi Lunch Grill: select from chicken, steak, salmon, vegetable, or chicken teriyaki, among others. Your selection is served with fried rice and vegetables.
