OPTIONAL GCSE COURSE DELIVERY: GCSE Computing is taught in 5 lessons per fortnight over 2 years.

COURSE CONTENT. All Students will study the following units: Unit 1: Computer systems and programming. This unit covers the knowledge about computer systems on which the exam will be based.

Unit 2: Practical Investigation. An investigative computing task involving research, technical understanding, analysis of problem, historical perspective, and use of technical writing skills.

GCSE COMPUTING

Unit 3: Programming Project. This involves understanding programming techniques, being able to design a coded solution, creating a coded solution and testing the solution.

Qualification: 1 GCSE Examination Board: OCR Course No: J275

ASSESSMENT Unit 1: Written exam (90 minutes) Unit 2: Controlled Assessment (20 hours) in the ICT classroom. Unit 3: Controlled Assessment (20 hours ) in the ICT classroom. The exam is weighted 40% and the controlled assessments 30% each. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. The programming software that the students will use is Python.

Please note that the students who opt to study this course will also undertake the BTEC ICT Core course as well.
