challenge the norm in order to succeed? Making assumptions is something we all do in many areas of our lives. An assumption is “something taken for granted or accepted as true without proof.” In other words, it is belief without proof. One example that immediately comes to mind is the assumption that you are what you do. Statements such as “I am a doctor” or “I am a lawyer” are examples. Your are not a doctor or a lawyer, you just happen to practice law or medicine. According to Dr Moses, as illustrated, society's language reinforces this false assumption. The truth is that we are more than what we do. In one lifetime one can be a lawyer, a doctor, an engineer and an entrepreneur all at once. I happen to know a few people who have such combinations of qualifications. They are people that have not fallen for this assumption. Another common assumption is that of thinking having more money will solve your money problems. Ask the guy who inherited a million dollars and lost it all in a year or so whether it sorted out his problems. Knowing how to make money, make it grow and learning how to invest it wisely are part of the answer. Having more money is not the answer, but financial intelligence is the answer. How about the assumption that having your own business is risky? Many would agree to that no doubt. Having a job is the more secure thing to do.

Dare, Don't Be Afraid to Make Mistakes Don't worry if you make mistakes. Only people who dare, try, and persevere, complete tasks and achieve success. It is so comfortable to be passive, make no effort, and stick to the familiar. However, by doing so, we allow external influences shape your life. According to Remez Sasson, daring, trying new things, and making changes, seem intimidating. It is more comfortable to suffer, complain, and stay in the same place. Why Daring Is Intimidating? You afraid you might make mistakes. You are afraid to look ridiculous. You want to avoid criticism. There is a lack of self-esteem. There is a lack of self-confidence. If you wish to let the above list intimidate you, and therefore, be unhappy, complain, and stay where you are, this is your choice. However, if you want to live a greater life, you should consider taking a step beyond your fears and start daring. It is not so difficult to do. It is a matter of attitude. It is a matter of changing your mindset. As the saying goes, 'it is all in the mind'. After the first step, it would seem less intimating to dare, even if you make mistakes and bad choices. All people who achieved success, any kind of success, dared to try. They did mistakes, and they failed over and again, but they did not give up. This depends on you. It is advisable to start with minor matters, and as you gain confidence, do bigger things.

The two-member team had 9 days to complete the 4,800-km distance

NASHIK : In a first for the nascent sport of ultra or very long distance cycling in the country, two doctors from Nashik--Hitendra Mahajan and his younger brother Mahendra- completed the 4,800-km Race Across America (RAAM), which is considered as world's toughest cycle race. The Mahajan brothers, aged 44 and 39, crossed the finish line at Annapolis, Maryland on the Atlantic Coast, 8 days, 14 hours and 55 minutes after being flagged off from Oceanside, California on the US West Coast, according to the official website of the RAAM. Unlike the

Tour De France, which is a stage race, RAAM is a multi-day event where the participants have to cycle continuously for hours together, which tests them physically and mentally. In their successful finish, the anaesthetist-dentist duo cycled at an average speed of 23.36 kms per hour across the course. The Mahajan brothers are the third Indian team to attempt the race, after Bengaluru's Samim Rizvi and Alibag's Sumit Patil, both had attempted it in the solo category. "It is a cruel race where all the hostilities conspire to test you. This is an extremely proud moment for Indian cycling. Finally, after four attempts, we have the tricolour fluttering across the finish line officially," Patil, who participated in the last year's competition, told. After starting from the pleasant climes of California, the riders enter the demanding Mojave Desert, deal with the high mountain passes in Colorado, brave the winds in the prairies in central US and get tested one last time in the Appalachian Mountains before reaching the finish line on the East Coast.
