Hind possesses an innate sense of creativity that has taken her to the forefront of entrepreneurial crafts in the UAE. After studying fine arts at Sharjah University, Hind started her own business ‘Designed by Hind,’ which focuses on producing collections of bespoke crockery. Designed by Hind has become one of the UAE’s leading brands of porcelain.

Her love of porcelain stemming from childhood, Hind has developed artistic works by fusing traditional Emirati elements with contemporary designs. Early sketches on porcelain which were intended to be just for her and her family flourished into the business she has today, with her work gaining a large following in the UAE market, as well as the GCC, since the launch of her first collection ‘Tuminah’ in 2011.

The Tumenah White on White collection is also inspired by the Tumenah ceremony and the shapes of traditional jewellery. It is however a more modernized and minimal version of the collection.

Instead of decorating the dinner set with gold elements, it is completely white matte with embossed elements. This white on white version creates a sophisticated look, sparking interest through both tangible and visual stimuli.

The Saba’a collection is a full dinner set that combines pure porcelain and crystal glass with platinum elements. The collection does not only harmonically combine different materials, but it also marries the old with the new, the traditional with the contemporary.

The gist of this collection is traditional shapes, patterns, and materials combined in original ways. Layers upon layers of culture, history and precision handiwork, have overlapped and intertwined to produce silver pieces. Yemen’s traditional shapes and patterns have been used in new ways, giving this dinner set a fresh and contemporary look, while honoring its roots. The silver and platinum elements, combined with the white porcelain and crystal, make this dinner set ideal for those who appreciate both traditional craftsmanship and luxury.

This full dinner set contains pieces made of white porcelain, marble, and glass, colored with shades of yellow, blue and silver brass. The bright and bold colors grant the Dots collection a dynamic and vibrant style.

Abstract artistic forms, that resemble an artist’s strokes on canvas, are combined with a common geometric shape, the square, inspired by the Arabic script. In Arabic calligraphy, there are several scripts, each of which uses a method of measuring letters by small squares.

‘Deewani’ script was chosen and brought to life, alongside the use of colors which represent ‘Alia’. Alia is Sheikha Hind’s mother’s name, the letters of which have been implemented in the Dots alphabet.

This unexpected combination creates an astonishing balance, while a different composition is used in every piece, giving each of them a unique character. With the Dots collection, you can have a dinner set where each piece is unique, while all of them work together as a uniform set.

To showcase the nation’s culture and traditional arts, the Bidwa collection has been inspired by the centuries-old Emirati handmade crafts of ‘talli’ and ‘safeefa’. It is an initiative by Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council, which seeks to modernize and develop the crafts for a wider global audience and empower Emirati ‘s craftswomen.

In addition, pieces made of palm tree materials compliment some of the porcelain pieces, showcasing the old, traditional, Emirati craft of Safeefa.

Through this, the important role palm trees play in the preservation, protection, and utilization of the country’s natural desert environment is celebrated.

The yellow-gold, grey and black colors on pure white porcelain, give this collection a luxurious feel. The design of the silver dallah (traditional Emirati coffee pot), with its unique porcelain handle, is not to be missed.

A collection ideal for a special occasion, that would also make your everyday moments a bit more memorable. It consists of a coffee set with dallah and fenyals and a full tea and dessert set.

While Hind’s inspiration is the structure of this great building, her work depicts the idea it represents. This idea is often overshadowed by the majestic pillars and colorful chandeliers that one sees on the surface.

In Hind’s own words: "In my collection, I have used 40 plates with basic illustrations to help underline the belief upon which the structure rests - a belief of modesty, purity and unity, much like our Late Father Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the mosque represents all that and much more." This is clearly shown in the collection, where each piece can stand on its own, while they also create a strong unity when combined together.

Traditional symbols and patterns from the Mosque are combined with floral elements, which are also inspired by the flowers that decorate the Mosque’s pillars. In this collection we have both symmetry and imbalance. Minimal line drawings, as well as more elaborate, detailed drawings. Single colors, as well as colorful illustrations. These different elements and styles complement each other, creating a dynamic dinner set. It would perfectly suit a traditional household, as well as a modern one, bringing an atmosphere of novelty.

It consists of three sizes of bowls, three sizes of dinner plates, coffee cups with saucer and Arabic coffee cups.

The bowls are decorated with bas-relief patterns, inspired by the leaves of the three desert flowers. The coffee cups and saucers are decorated with abstract shapes in golden color, while the Arabic coffee cups are covered in different designs made of more intricate shapes, inspired by different elements of the flowers. The third style includes coffee cups decorated with small, geometric symbols that are inspired by organic elements of the flowers, but rendered in a more frisky and simple style.

It will definitely win over the more playful souls. Finally, the smaller plates are covered in full line-drawings of the desert flowers’ blossoms, creating a nice balance with the more minimally decorated plates of other sizes.

AL NAD The AL Nad collection is the outcome of a collaboration, designed by Hind AlQasimi and crafted by Bernardaud, a world-class manufacturer of luxury Limoges porcelain in France.

The different forms that sand dunes take are illustrated beautifully in this collection, reminding of the free movement of sand with the wind.
