HELLO. My name is KEVIN AKONGWE TAMINANG , I am a holder of a Masters degree in Architecture from the Institute of Fine Arts of Douala University at Nkongsamba in Cameroon. Ever since I came into contact with architecture I have nurtured the strong will to learn new things, a fervent desire to improve the living environment, and a passion to create cities and spaces of the future for the betterment of future generations.

I am open minded and this makes it possible for me to work well in a team. My bilingual nature, that is being able to express myself in both the English and French languages, gives me strong communication skills required for interractive communication with clients and peers.

01 PRIVATE RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS Residential Program Brief Conception, design and construction of a family residence comprising of 5 Bedrooms, 1 Family room, 1 VIP parlour, Bureau, Kitchen + magasin, Dining, and External terraces.

Role: Architect Job: 2D and Documentation • Detail draft all 2D plans (Floor plans, sections, elevations, details, furniture plans, projected ceiling plans, site plans etc.)

• Prepare presentation drawings • Prepare and set building permit drawings • Prepare technical specification documents and BOQ 3D and Visualization • Design 3D models to suit preconceived sketches from lead Architect while adding personal touches.

• Visualize and produce 3D renders and animations • Design interior views

THE PROJECT The project site is a 4177m2 piece of land in a residential quarter in Odza, Yaounde, Cameroon.

Although very big, the Client wants only 2000m2 to used for the project, both for the proposed building and its sorrounding landscape developement.

The proposed building only occupies a total surface area of 550m2 without lanscaping.

THE DESIGN The building is oriented following the steep natural slope of the terrain, living the main living spaces to enjoy the vista towards the rest of the town.

Its perculiar pyramidal form leaves the viewer in a trance. The pyramidal volume takes support on a squared floor plan each of the four angles of the square acting as support.

The Roof covering will be made of shingle or metro-bond roofing sheets, while the structure will be concrete.

PRIVATE RESIDENCE

However, the complex nature of this project forced the design team to review the project. Although the Client had already accepted the design, the design team thought it wise to scale down the project.

The following slide shows the changes.

THE DESIGN The building is oriented following the steep natural slope of the terrain, living the main living spaces to enjoy the vista towards the rest of the town.

The structure is a cubic volume cuting at right angles at intersections between the horizontal straight lines of the terraces, and the vertical lines of walls and pillars.

The Roof is a general four-pitched traditional system. The roof surface is covered with solar panels to help maximize the use of electricity.

PRIVATE RESIDENCE

A modern cubic volume. Void of extravagance, simple and straight.

HOTELS, GUEST HOUSES & LEISURE

THE PROJECT The project site is a 900m2 piece of land in the heart of the town in Yaounde, Cameroon. The building sits at the meeting of one major road along which are mostly mixed high-rise commercial and office buildings, and one secondary road leading into the residential quarters with mostly low-rise buildings and villas.

The limited surface area of the site is therefore a constraint to the design team. The Client’s main objective being to have maximum number of suites and Hotel rooms as possible.

THE DESIGN The project embraces the site with its main entrance and opening into the parking levels at the basement facing the main street. A secondary entrance for services and personnel opens unto the less busy street.

The main façade is symmetrically designed with sunlight reflectors letting only the required amounts of sunlight into the rooms.

SPORTS COMPLEX It is placed away from the classrooms reducing the effect of noice and distractions.

AUDITORIUM

It is centrally placed and binds all the spaces together therefore becoming an active zone. It is connected with the assembly hall having the view of the whole school. The amphitheatre is therefore the focal point of the project.

The library is divided into two parts; the Enclosed and the Semi-open parts. The enclosed part houses the book stack area plus the reading room. The semiopen functions as an outdoor reading space, an gallery for expositions.

The Auditorium is placed near the recreational zone where different seminars and ocassions can be held.
