Montoya TREEANA
INDULGE: Can you share your journey into the world of professional modeling? How did you get started?
TREEANA: I got started with my modeling journey when I was 13 years old. I mainly did fashion shoots and fashion shows between the ages of 13-18. Once I reached 18, I ventured into boudoir.
INDULGE: Who or what inspired you to pursue such a competitive career as a model?
TREEANA: Throughout my youth I was constantly bullied for my height and weight. Being made fun of for those things was very hard on my self-esteem so my mother suggested trying something to boost my confidence. I signed up for a photo event that came to Albuquerque, I didn’t have high expectations. After this event I was drawn into the world of modeling and wanted to see what more there was out there.
INDULGE: Can you share some highlights from your boudoir modeling career and any memorable experiences you’ve had?
TREEANA: Throughout my modeling career I’ve met so many amazing people and have made new friends from all over. I’ve gotten to travel and experience new things.
INDULGE: How do you approach posing and expressing emotions in boudoir shoots to create a comfortable and intimate atmosphere?
TREEANA: Typically the photographer and I discuss prior to shooting what it is we are going for. Whether it

be a more playful or serious type shoot. Posing wasn’t always easy for me, it sometimes came as a struggle. Over the years I’ve gotten more comfortable and confident with posing. I always like to have the input of the photographers as well as whoever else I might be working with.
INDULGE: Modeling often involves working with diverse teams of photographers, makeup artists, and stylists. How do you collaborate and communicate effectively to bring a vision to life?
TREEANA: Before setting up shoots that involve multiple people, the photographer and I usually come up with the basic ideas that we want to bring to life. After discussing our ideas we then figure out who would be best to bring on to help us with makeup, props, hair, etc... After this we usually create a group chat where we can all discuss what is expected and what we need from everyone involved.
INDULGE: What challenges have you encountered in the modeling industry, and how did you overcome them?
TREEANA: The main challenges I’ve had throughout my time modeling have been working with unprofessional people and drama within the community. When I first started modeling there was a “Blacklist” of photographers and other individuals to be cautious of. This helped myself and a lot of newer models when choosing who to work with. I’ve had my fair share of uncomfortable situations over the years. Once I got more into shooting I realized that a safe and professional photographer would have no issue with me bringing someone along for my safety. I’ve had a few people who have not been comfortable with that, so I never proceeded with shooting with them. I highly recommend taking someone with you to shoots and events. A good thing to remember is someone can be completely professional with one person but then go and be a predator with another.
INDULGE: How do you maintain a professional boundary during intimate photo sessions, ensuring a respectful working environment?
TREEANA: Before any shoots I always speak to whoever I’m going to work with about what they are comfortable with. Setting boundaries beforehand makes it easier to understand what is okay and what is not. If you ever feel
like you are doing something that might make anyone else involved uncomfortable, simply don’t do it. Also staying strictly professional during messages/convos is a big plus.
INDULGE: Have you worked with different photographers, and if so, how do you adapt to their unique shooting styles and preferences?
TREEANA: I have worked with so many photographers over the 13 years I’ve been modeling. Everyone is different in their shooting styles and their expectations. Discussing the way a photographer shoots is extremely helpful for both the model and photographer. Some people might like to take more control in posing, facial expressions, etc.... While others like to give the model the freedom to express themselves how they would like to. I’ve worked with people who have taken a thousand photos in a session, I’ve also worked with people that take 10 photos and are content. Everyone has a different way to do things, so being open minded is always nice.
INDULGE: Can you discuss the importance of body positivity and self-confidence in boudoir modeling, both for yourself and the clients you work with?
TREEANA: Being confident with your appearance is something that truly shows in the photos someone takes of you. Working with people who are open minded is not only beneficial for the model, but for the photographer as well. Having a diverse portfolio makes other models feel more comfortable and confident in shooting boudoir. A lot of people think that models of certain shapes and sizes should be the only ones to do this type of modeling. I think that everyone deserves to experience the style of boudoir modeling, it really opens up how someone may see themselves.
INDULGE: How do you handle requests for specific poses or styles that you may not be comfortable with, and how do you communicate your boundaries effectively?
TREEANA: I am always open to trying new poses or styles of shoots. It pushes me as a model to get out of my comfort zone and experience something new. As far as
something I’m not okay with, I have no issue letting the photographer know if something makes me uncomfortable. Being able to communicate how you feel is something you need to be able to do when shooting. A simple “I’m not okay with this, can we try something else?” is more than enough for the photographer to understand.
INDULGE: In your opinion, what makes boudoir photography truly captivating, and how do you contribute to achieving that as a model?
TREEANA: I believe that boudoir photography gives women the chance to feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. That is one of my favorite things about the style of modeling. I’ve seen older women who have felt so thrilled after their first shoot and seeing that truly makes me happy. I try my best to uplift other creators when attending shoots.
INDULGE: How do you stay updated on industry trends and continuously improve your skills as a model?
TREEANA: I try my best to keep up with new trends and styles that I find on social media. Working with new people also gives more ideas into what other people are doing and what seems to be working for them.
INDULGE: Can you share any advice for aspiring models looking to establish themselves in the industry?
TREEANA: My biggest thing is always making sure that you’re safe when shooting with anyone. As I mentioned before, taking someone with you for shoots/events is something you should always do. Acknowledging when someone is being unprofessional is also something to look out for. Trust your gut when you feel uneasy about something. Another thing to do is to reach out to models who have been in the community for a long period of time. Asking them about specific people is a good thing, asking them to attend shoots with you, asking for guidance, etc....
INDULGE: As a professional model, how do you utilize social media and other platforms to enhance your visibility and connect with your audience?
TREEANA: I try to utilize Instagram, X, Onlyfans and

Reddit to help promote what I do. It has gotten a little more difficult the past couple of years with the new algorithms but they can still be useful tools. Social media is also a good way to meet new creators and support others.
INDULGE: How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance while pursuing a career that demands a hectic schedule?
TREEANA: It sometimes is hard balancing both sides of my life. My personal life takes priority over my modeling career but there is a way to handle both. I try to schedule a certain amount of shoots for myself depending on what I have going on in my personal life, otherwise it can get overwhelming.
INDULGE: A little off subject… but I feel that music can often play a big role in our lives. What 5 albums or artists have made you who you are today?
TREEANA: I love music! I feel like music can really make someone more comfortable during a shoot and ease their nerves. A few artists that I really love are Amigo the Devil, Hozier, Alina Baraz, Deftones and Korn.
INDULGE: Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
TREEANA: If you’re thinking about trying modeling, you should definitely go for it! I am always here for guidance to anyone who is wanting to give it a shot. Please reach out to me with any questions you might have. Thank you!
