Story and Photos by Pat Krause Bianca Rae, Local TV personality, Journalist, Humanitarian and founder of the Bianca Rae Foundation received the 416th Star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars on June 2nd. Over 100 people attended this star dedication. Many had chairs that were set up, and others stood or sat
by the fountain. Rae said she chose the location of the star because it was one of the first places she visited when she moved here. The Star in located near the fountain and the Sonny Bono Statue at 149 South Palm Canyon Drive. Rae is the youngest recipient of a Star in the Palm Springs Walk of Stars. Speakers included friends
KMIR Vince Marino Palm Springs, CA -The Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector control District says it’s expanding its search area for a mosquito -- capable of carrying the Zika Virus in Palm Springs. Palm springs resident Kevin Crain was at home Monday when he got a knock at the door. It was a man from Vector Control and he asked to inspect his backyard. “I said absolutely, have at it. I unlocked the gates, he walked around the perimeter, checked everything. We have a pretty big pool and a fountain he checked all that,” said Crain. The inspection was free and only took about twenty minutes but the reason behind it was more
than Crain expected. “Palm Springs has become the hotbed right now of Aedes Aegypti detections in all of the Coachella Valley. The detections there are growing faster, we’re finding more of these types of mosquito in more areas than any other place in the valley,” said Jill Oviatt, public information officer for the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District. Initially Vector Control believed they knew where the mosquitoes were concentrated. But after setting a few traps last month they were surprised to see how many of those traps tested positive for the Aedes Aegypti Mosquito.

The Miniature star who is usually given did not make the dedication and would be presented later. Proclamations were given designating June 2nd as Bianca Rae Day.
Bianca Rae spoke and said she knew as a child she was going to be Bianca Rae and would drop her last name Goutos but she is proud of her last name and her family. She thanked her fellow coworkers as they always have her back and support her. She Continues on Page 2
