Cooling Centers in Valley

Service centers are free and provide a much needed break By KMIR News Staff RIVERSIDE COUNTY - With temperatures soaring for the rest of this week, The Riverside County Department of Public Health has announced the opening of dozens of cooling centers across the county, including several here in The Valley. The centers are coordinated by the Community Action Partnership of Riverside County, in conjunction with the health department, and are located in local libraries, senior and community centers. Light

refreshments and water will be available at some locations. The services at the centers are free and designed to provide a break from the triple-digit temperatures. “As the weather grows hotter in the summer months, it is critical that we provide residents with protection from the excessive heat. We understand that not all of our neighbors may have access to cooler conditions, so we are glad to offer this option for the safety of residents and visitors throughout Riverside

County,” said Brenda Salas Freeman, executive director of the Community Action Partnership of Riverside County. High temperatures can be hazardous for many people, especially for the elderly and those with medical conditions. Here is a list of the cooling centers in our immediate area: CATHEDRAL CITY: Cathedral City Center 37-171 W. Buddy Rogers Ave Tel: 760 321-1548 Time: 9:00am-5:00pm Continues on Page 8
