This was a much-anticipated film as the Van Paten men have been in the Desert and part of the film was shot in the Coachella Valley. This is a real-life movie as Vince told this story and felt it should be made into a film. Local producers Kim Waltrip and
Denise DuBarry Hay played a big part in getting the film produced and distributed. The elder Dick Van Patten who passed away several years ago was a gambler in the real sense of the word and showed his boys how to play poker and bet on the ponies. Dick Van Patten was the star of, Eight Is Enough, TV show and has a star on the Palm Springs Walk of
Stars. He hosted a poker tournament here in the Desert several years ago with his family and lots of celebrity gamblers. The men in the Van Patten family continue in Gambling in one way or another. The film is a story of the Men and their life in gambling. Vince and his wife, actress Eileen Davidson-a TV star, were partners in this life. The cast of, Walk To
By Desert Star Staff Palm Springs, Calif. – The Palm Canyon Theatre (PCT) will become a pantomime of hustle and bustle as the regional repertory company presents Guys and Dolls January 18-February 10. Set in New York City in the 1940s, Guys and Dolls is about some big city gamblers and the women who love them. The Tony award winner for Best Musical tells the
overlapping stories of the lovable rapscallion, Nathan Detroit (Paul Grant), engaged for 14 years to Miss Adelaide (Se Layne), a headliner at the Hot Box Club and that of highroller Sky Masterson (Nicholas Sloan), who falls in love with mission worker Sarah Brown (Jamie Leigh Walker). Nathan runs a famous floating crap game, and an ongoing plot line involves his quest for a safe place for the
game as Adelaide continues her quest to convince him to marry her. Meanwhile, Sarah, mistakenly believing that Sky set up an illegal game at the mission, tries to fight her affection for the charismatic crapshooter. Vegas, arrived on the Red Carpet before the showing of the film. They came early and brought along the whole family, actors in the movie and friends. Cast members Vince Van Patten, Eileen Davidson, James Van Patten, John O’Hurley, Danny Pardo, Adam Weinraub, Steve Alper and more talked to fans and did selfies with them before photos for photographers.
They brought their mother and children onto the Red Carpet. It was a family affair. Another Celebrity that came and has been a family friend for years was Caitlyn Jenner and her friend Sophia Hutchins.
