Journalists Killed By Desert Star Staff A gunman opened fire on a WDBJ news crew conducting a live broadcast from a Virginia shopping center on Wednesday, killing a reporter and cameraman. Police is chasing the shooter, believed to be a disgruntled exemployee, local media reported. WDBJ confirmed that reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were killed during the shooting.
The channel’s general manager appeared live on air to deliver the news. “It’s my very, very sad duty to report...that Alison and Adam died this morning,” Jeff Marks said. A video from the scene showed the crew being attacked in the middle of a live report at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Virginia. A reporter was interviewing
a woman at the shopping center when the gunman walked into view, firing what sounded to be at least six shots. The scene quickly cut back to a stunned anchorwoman who said, “OK, not sure what happened there. We will of course let you know as soon as we find out what those sounds were.” The incident happened at about 6:45 a.m. local time.
By Dan Marinelli LOS ANGELES – When a large-scale music festival like FYF Fest has one of its headliners cancel last minute, how do they recover? By calling Kanye West out from his Kardashian depths to drop an unforgettable, Yeezus-dominant performance, in front of a soldout crowd at Downtown Los Angeles’ Exposition Park this weekend. The most glaring problem at last, year’s festival was the lack of layout organization. There was only one path from the entrance to the festival’s largest stage, which also happened to be obstructed by long food truck
lines that created a big jam in the middle of the lone walkway. FYF fixed the problem the following day, but this year’s organization was smoother than a warm knife through butter. There was an additional path to the main stage that created a much easier festival flow. Also, going from Bloc Party to Kanye West – the two most popular acts on Saturday night – would have been an utter nightmare without the added route. If there was a theme throughout the festival, it was social media. Whether it was people blogging about what they were doing, eating or
seeing; or the large, blow-up Snapchat ghost and various emojis scattered throughout the grounds. On Saturday night, Block Party was scheduled to end five minutes into Kanye’s set. This left a lot of festivalgoers worried and torn between seeing the two best performances of the evening. To make matters worse, Bloc party arrived on stage ten minutes late. Kele Okereke, the lead singer of Bloc Party asked the crowd “Are you guys ready for Yeezy?” amid the bands’ performance. So he was

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe said: “We believe it was a disgruntled employee who fired at the TV crew. Not a case of terrorism. It is a criminal case.” Nearby Bedford County schools are currently on lockdown as police search for the shooter, ABC 13 reported. The Virginia Department of Transportation has reported a high-priority situation, announcing the closure of Route
122 in the area. WDBJ is a CBS-affiliated local television station serving the cities of Roanoke and Lynchburg. ‘I am numb’ Both Parker and Ward were in relationships to other people at WDBJ. Parker had just moved in with one of the station’s news anchors, Chris Hurst, who expressed his devastation
