Story and Photos by Pat Krause The famous only woman performer from the Osmond Family, Marie Osmond, gave a new type of concert at Fantasy Springs Casino on Sat. April 4th. Remember the Donny and Marie TV show a few years ago? Both Donny and Marie have had successes as solo artists. Marie brought this brand new
idea to her new show where she chronicles her life with both words and song. Marie started by saying this is her 5th decade in show business as she started at the age of 3. At age 4, she was on the Andy Williams TV show. At 12, she was just a gangly teenager and the only Osmond to ever wear braces. Marie continued with her life
story by explaining how she got her first #1 hit, Paper Roses at 13. Had a TV show with her brother Donny at 16 and traveled a lot with the family and the Osmond Brothers all over the world. Marie said Judy Garland had a big influence in her life and then sang Over the Rainbow. She said she fell in love at 22 and went on the
Story and Photos by Pat Krause The ANA Inspiration LPGA golf major held its annual Teen Champions Junior Challenge where 34 young women vied for a chance to play in the first major of the year, the ANA Inspiration LPGA tournament as an amateur. The Teens are paired with a LPGA pro during the rounds. The LPGA Pros were Nancy Lopez, Donna Caponi, Pat Bradley, Patty Sheehan, Amy Alcott, Betsy King,
Nancy Bowen, Sandra Palmer, Alice Miller, Kathy Whitwoth, and Patricia Meunier-Lebouc as Coaches and Mentors. All these Pros are big names in LPGA history and have won many major LPGA tournaments. The winner this year was Haley Moore from Excondido, CA with a fantastic 67 for the round. Haley has played in the tournament before and at 16 will be the youngest player in the
ANA Inspiration. Her Pro was Patricia Meunier-Lebouc who won this tournament in 2003. Haley said Patricia gave her valuable information, guidance and filled her head with positive thoughts when she got nervous. The first place winners were Donna Caponi’s team of Malie Eversberger from Palm Desert, Brittany Park from Fullerton, and
