Bubble on the Horizon? Current Mortgage Rates The cost of borrowing money is going up… again. The Federal Reserve decided to raise its benchmark rate by a quarter of a point this month. So what does this mean for you? Your credit card rate is going to be a full percentage point higher this summer than it was two summers ago, before the Fed started to raise rates. Some good news: the Fed’s action should not affect mortgage rates for people looking to buy a home. In fact, the average 30year fixed-mortgage rate loan is still under 4% right now.

Summer is almost behind us, football season is here, and the housing market around Orange Tree starts picking up steam this time of year. Inventory remains extremely low in the Orange Tree area. On the cover is my newest listing located at 11636 N 60th Street priced at $1,735,000. This 5,000 SQFT home was completely restored and updated and sits on one acre, located on the 6th hole of the Orange Tree Golf Course. Nearly $500,000 in upgrades were spent in the backyard. Some so-called experts are predicting another housing bubble, although I don’t see it happening here in Arizona. Slightly more than half of American homeowners – 58 percent – say they expect there will be a “bubble and a price correction” within the next two years, according to the latest numbers from Value Insured’s Modern Homebuyer Survey. Many consumers believe that real estate is reaching the top of the market. Because of that, 83 percent surveyed said now is a good time to sell their home – up 9 percentage points since last quarter. But confidence in buying may be getting a little shaky. Many buyers surveyed expressed concern whether a property they bought now would hold its value. More than 50 percent of American owners believe homes in their area are overvalued and that current prices are unsustainable. Despite their concerns, nearly 79 percent of respondents say that homeownership is an important part of their American dream.
